Why was this not Included in a BIS Config?

I realized after playing the PMC campaign that I saw a woodland m113. So I decided to open the PMC Campaign mission and I found it. Here's a picture of all three m113 textures:

I'm just trying to figure out why BIS would not put this in as an official config for a US Army Woodland vehicle. People could use this in MP...

Does anybody else know if there are any more textures for units hiding within the data files?

Please add that in with the patch, BIS. If it's not too much to ask, add a desert version of it as well please.

Oh and please an EAST version of the KA-60. Can have the same black skin without any markings, but would be super useful already!

Yeah, I asked what was that when the patch was released but no one answered. There is a Woodland Bradley then? :yay:

They already have one in russian camo, actually i didnt even know there was a black textured version of it before i checked ingame and found out that its a updated version of Sebastians ( Sebastian Müller aka Joey Lemonade ) never released OFP Kasatka.

The man was ahead of his time quality wise :)

Now, can we please get those as properly set up units in the editor in the next patch, BIS?

It's really painful that there is no way to change a units side affiliation via scripting. If there would be an option, we could simply change the KA-60 from Independence to EAST for specific missions and be done with. Of course you can edit the mission file, but this will only work for vehicles that are not crated or respawned at run time, like in Warfare. Currently, putting a friendly crew in a vehicle belonging to a different faction will always make it show up as hostile on the radar.

I would love to have this set up in the editor as well; having it in the game but not available to editors and players seems odd, like a waste of work (why would you make a texture if you're not going to let anyone use it?).

If there would be more textures for other units as well, that would make me (and lots of other people I bet) very happy indeed. If only they would be available in the editor, mission makers would have so much more freedom to make missions without the need for community addons (by which I don't mean disrespect to the community addons at all, I just mean to say that without those addons, there is less of a hassle to get into missions that would otherwise need them, ie not having a dependency)

Seeing as BIS been on this forum far longer than most of us they must have realized including one or two woodland M113's would have generated hundreds of threads like this demanding more content as the the community works nowadays.

I'm sure they made the wise decision this time.

Combined operations should have had both Woodland/Desert camos on vehicles in the first place. I'm glad at least BAF did.

Well, it's not a very big surprise (at least not for me) as when I tempered with ArmA 1's models and textures, I've found a lot of unused character textures (some for RACS, a lot of for an FIA-like faction), and you have some existing, but not configured models/textures discovered time to time by the community (McNool's M4A3 ACOG's are an example, but not the only). If you happen to find them, then give it a try and make it available, nobody's going to hold back you.

Hi,

New vehicles is good, when you can use it...

My favorite map is Chernarus for many reasons (Location, size, posibilities).

Unfortunatly, almost everything usefull from OA (BTR-60, L-39...), because the camo dosent fit in the map, can't be use.

Hopefully, great things (T-55, BTR-40) came in plain green and we can use it for many sides.

Compatibility is very important... for me. :)

A new vehicle = available for sides who should have it in right camo.

Exemple: T-55 Plain green/CDF/RUSSIA/Takistani army

BIS should think about that... It could improve a lot the game.

I find it really funny that this thread touches the same topic like this one, currently running in the suggestions forum:

In general, I think there is a big hope in the community that BIS will bring ArmA2 and Arrowhead more in line in the future, treating them as a combined product and melting away the partially artificial borders between the two.

This includes ArmA2 units' inability to use backpacks, different camo sets for woodland and desert, new Arrowhead units being made available to ArmA2 factions with respective textures, but also adding missing variations of units that are available by other factions.

This and overall game balance and equipment standardization, like offroad speeds in Takistan vs. Chernarus, different ammo slot sizes for similar ammo of certain weapons like SMAW vs. MAAWS, lack of Thermal imaging and built-in NVG on some vehicles, etc.
