darkxess 60 Posted August 25, 2011 I'm pretty sure you can do what you're after in the fast_rope addon version of the taxi scripts - take a look here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73336&highlight=fastropeThis addon uses an older version of the taxi scripts so I can't promise you its going to work perfectly as BIS have played around with chopper behaviour since it was last updated but the fast-rope part should work fine. Oooo thanks man, didnt know the older version was still about. IF I could get a new version done and with fastropes etc, maybe like Lanzfeld said with an escort too, do I have permission to release to public.. (again IF I do come up with anything) thanks. @Lanzfeld its most likely why its not working right non scripted! though non scripted version have you tried a trigger to delete chopper once it his that area ? that could always work as you was saying it wont dissapear at the end of its run, the rest im not sure about. kremator 1065 Posted August 26, 2011 Hey Norrin ... good to see you mate. I was under the impression that you had left us! I'm glad to see you are still here ! Can't wait to see what is planned with AAW..... any hints ?
norrin 9 Posted August 27, 2011 Can't wait to see what is planned with AAW..... any hints ? Kanga (who you may know better as SoldierX) would no doubt kill me if I let the cat out of the bag - but what I can say is that there's new vehicles, new functionality, plenty of fixes and out of the box vanilla or ACE compatibility, which automatically loads depending on what mods you have loaded. If you're interested you can see some very early work in-progress shots of the vehicles, which you may have already seen, here: http://www.ausarma.org/forums/showthread.php/186-ASLAV-PC-W.I.P @DarkXess - I'm sorry mate but at the moment I still have updates/plans for these scripts so I'd prefer to keep them in-house at the moment - I'll try and get some work done on them over the next few weeks and I'll be sure to add some chopper escort functionality. Kommiekat 11 Posted August 27, 2011 I was wondering if the chopper for the taxi can be replaced with OPFOR?
darkxess 60 Posted August 28, 2011 Oooo well thats ever better! didnt know you were still working on them so id rather wait then! thanks :)
norrin 9 Posted September 1, 2011 NORRN_aerialTaxi04.utes Here's the promised update to the scripts: http://norrin.org/downloads/OA/HeliTaxi/NORRN_aerialTaxi04.utes.rar (The revised readme is in the mission folder) Changes/Fixes in version 0.4 * Added the escort gunship option to the scripts * Numerous fixes - replaced almost all waitUntil commands with while, further fixes to dedicated server compatibility and chopper respawning code Let me know if you find any bugs but in my rather simple tests everything seems to be working fine in both SP and MP/dedicated server missions. As long as nothing serious is found I'll update the fastrope taxi script to the latest non fast rope version norrin

manzilla 1 Posted September 2, 2011 As long as nothing serious is found I'll update the fastrope taxi script to the latest non fast rope version norrin What do you mean by this? Will you release an updated fast rope script if there's no bugs in this one?
adamcarolan2290 0 Posted September 3, 2011 this is fantastic works great if u r abil to do this is it possible to have a A10 on a runway and have it work the same way call it in and have it land back were u spawn it just like the chopper support ???
norrin 9 Posted September 5, 2011 What do you mean by this? Will you release an updated fast rope script if there's no bugs in this one? Yes mate - exactly. Adding the revised taxi/escort code shouldn't take long but I've always had a dream that one day I'd get round to revising the fast rope code to make it less processor/server intensive so I may do that as well. @adam - Although I quite enjoy flying them I've never worked with fixed wing aircraft much adam. Anything's doable - its just a matter of time and patience, unfortunately dealing with all the possibilities that can happen when a script is used can take quite a lot of time, something I'm not really blessed with at the moment - I'll have a quick look at it and see how much work it is. norrin
kremator 1065 Posted September 5, 2011 Not to hijack (but as norrin hasn't played around with fixed wing) you could try Drapers RUM Assets (use search). It does exactly this. Now about that revive script .... :) will your eyes be passing over that one in the future norrin ? See, told you I wouldn't hijack ;)

vengeance1 50 Posted September 6, 2011 Hi NORRIN, Been playing with your escort script, really like it! I would recommend however that you give the AH1 some distance as occasionally it collides with the UH60. Other than that as always WELL DONE!
norrin 9 Posted September 9, 2011 @Adam Here's a beta version of the mapclick Close Air Support script: http://norrin.org/downloads/OA/CAS/CAS_01.rar There's 2 test missions in the rar file one on Utes and one on Takistan. It works in pretty much the same way as the chopper taxi script however the aircraft don't respawn. CAS script Its currently set-up for a flight of two aircraft only - A10's seem to work best for the blufor side. When CAS is called via the action menu the planes will take-off and fly to the marker point selected on the map. They will then engage any enemy units they come across for a period of approx 3 minutes or until all the targets they are aware of are destroyed. Then they'll land at the base/airport, taxi round until they reach the end of the runway and wait until the next CAS strike is called. The scripts are set-up to work on a dedicated server but I haven't done much testing on a dedi so far. If you try the missions you'll see 2 markers on the Takistan map designating enemy positions and one on the Utes map. When the CAS action appears just use it and click on the map at one of these enemy markers and the ball will start rolling... Camera script I've included my simple camera script in the 2 missions so you can watch the action from various view points. Cam script can be enabled in the action menu. Once you've enabled it you can scroll through various views using the W and S keys The camera choices are: 1. 3rd person 2. Topdown (use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out) 3. Fixed front/side view 4. 1st person 5. Rotatable camera ( camera postion can be zoomed in and out with the scroll wheel and can be rotated around the unit using the click and holding the right-mouse button near the centre of the screen) 6. Fly by camera You can swap camera focus between units using the A and D keys. Future plans * Add the ability for aircraft to use bombs * Add a cancel CAS strike function If you give it a try make sure you let me know if you come across any problems. Thanks, norrin @Vengeance - thanks for the suggestion mate - will do.

supergruntsb78 67 Posted September 23, 2011 i noticed a little thing dont know how to fix it my self so ill ask here i get in to a chopper called slick1 then i select my destination the chopper and gunship (escort1) fly me over there no problems this far then i complete my mission and call for extraction. The choppers arrive nice and clean , i board the slick and select RTB , the slick returns to base, but the gunship remains on station. Even after waiting a long period back at base (the slick reported waiting for orders ) no gunship returns it denys my ability to call for insertion and extraction with the slick because it seems to be waiting for the escort also i noticed that the choppers have to be calles slick1 and escort1 or the script doesn't seem to function ? (had a chopper called helo1 and nothing happend) ps. is it possible to have the gunship come to your location wait until the player deployd a green/red smoke and then land on that position ? (the airfield support script and medevac addon, have that ability so maybe you can look at that as a example if you dont know how)
sowens 71 Posted September 26, 2011 is there a way to initialize it after death? Works great for the most part. The things I found, and I could have caused it, is that -after death, I can not call for extraction -AH 1 keeps coming back and killing after the bird has left for base I have the player setVariable ["NORRN_taxiHeli", slick1, true]; in a client int file. Any idea on how to set that to a specific player and get it to work after respawn? Much thanks!
supergruntsb78 67 Posted September 26, 2011 -AH 1 keeps coming back and killing after the bird has left for base as i said.. the gunship doesn't return to base with the transport. It indeeds keeps at station and attacks everything RED. After a small time the gunship is suddenly landing (at the current position)to turn of the engine and right away starting them up again and trying to fly off to kill more resulting in the Gunship crashing in to buildings / trees / etc.
