What are the most important sounds for you while using JSRS?

    • The weapon sounds!
    • The vehicle sounds!
    • Environmental sounds!
    • Explosions, Soniccracks, Bullethits, the sound of danger!
    • The script features like the "distance sounds"!
    • Everything combined! The whole Mod itself is important.

Oh, sry Guys, I toke a day free yesterday, so wasn't online. Yah, thanks Bigpickle :) Yah, Minigun! That was the one I almost forget, yah, I wanted to do that Animal, comes with the next Patch than.

The default MLRS is only on US side I guess? USMC works fine? Than is there a new "requirement" for the other MLRS... I make a new Config for ya...

The required M230 error (you cannot edit or play this...) is because of the new Ah64 from the BAF dlc. So I should make a new config extra for the BAF content. I have no Idea with the M240... the sounds are there, Im sure... did anyone else get this error? Ok, two of you said that already... hmm... is that only with the WC DLC? Than it could be that the sounds not included in the M240.pbo... because the configs are the same.

To that M1 engine: Its nearly impossible to get an nice sound! I was really close to the RL with my new one. But I guess you are right, I should maybe pitch it done a little bit. Or did anyone else an nice YT Vid of an M1 Abrams on moving? Its hard to fine them.

I edited 14 new weapons for the new DLC... sounds really interesting, only problem is: I wanted to make this "YT Mod" as some of you may know. But I was reworking the sounds already so much, that there is not many from the YT Vids... so I guess it will be a complete new style. I will make an Video for you, so you can see what I was talking about. I love these sounds already and was playing with them some rounds. I think, in my opinion, these sounds are awesome!^^

Yah, to all of you, who playing Arma 2 Alone without OA, here is the list with the AddOns you have to delete to get this to work fine (anyway I only can say: Get this OA! Its worth it!)

I was trying to do that, but the engine was not so kind to support my project. I was trying to add an sound, that the rocket comes and than makes an real loud flyby...so sssssSCHHHOUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.... :D:D stupid^^

Im trying this with some other things, but no promises, but yah, show me your Vid. Thanks Mate.

About the MLRS..it's indeed only us.

I fired some artillery rounds and I noticed just before impact you could hear a "swoosh" (when firing from long distances that is).

I was wondering if you could maybe also edit those into more realistic ones like this one:

N°12 artillery sound3--> I don't mean the explosion but the incoming sound.

Just to give you an idea what I mean..If it's even possible to change the sounds.

Thanks, I gonna test the the incomming sounds for morters, but for this I have to make a whole new Explosions.pbo... means: It will be BIG!^^

So, after wasting my time on YT and so on I found

Someday, may mod should sound like that :D:D

I don't think Arma has a mortar that small.

Btw, Jarhead, that 10 minute video I posted that you liked has some heavy mortar fire in it that would be good for inspiration, if not samples.

I think ACE_SM makers watched that video for theirs, actually. :p

Yah I saw that. And yes, gonna rework the A10 and Gau8... make the A10 a bit lower in volume while the Gau needs to be louder! Got it!

Jarhead, note that the primary weapon sound in the beginning of the seconds video isn't the gun but the impacts. 30m rounds hitting the ground at such a high rate of fire sounds very unique.

Noticed ;) Rework the Gau8 completely than....^^

And I hate to keep harping on the distant sonic cracks, but they really aren't there yet. I heard a new one that was distracting me the entire firefight.

I think it's for 7.62mm rounds and it is clearly a double sound. It's like two bullets instead of one, which can work for impacts but is very annoying for sonic snaps.

I see what I can do. and to those Distant soniccracks, I dont know what you mean? They are there! And I think they are fine, so that my opinion... haha and what the fuck is so important that you only hear one sound instead of double? ^^ Hell, always the same... YAAAAAAAAAAH, I check this and see what I can do... so I need to rework the Soniccracks too...

Its up to you, you making the next Patch bigger and bigger :D:D

Remember how BI handles them?

If the bullet is close, you hear a snap. If it is far away you hear a quieter pop.

The engine lets you have two sounds for sonic snaps, AFAIK. One nearby and one distant.

And it's that pop sound that I would really like to see done as well as the other sonic snaps. They needn't be so loud and scary, but they are very immersive and distinctive, as those three videos I posted showed.

I know about the engine mate! I have close and far sounds... but it seems they're not good enough... well, I come never out of this :D

Ohh, I apologize Mate! I saw some game minutes ago, that I was packing the wrong pack of soniccracks (have 4 different Versions) that was the old one! I have already a new one with nice popping sounds... lol, my fault!

I'd love to see this JH, for my experience the sounds of mortars reasonably close do sound like a huge crash just like in your sound mod, especially after the latest update.

But over a larger distance say 500m + they change and have sort of a CRUMP! noise, I don't know if you can have a distance sound set for mortars but if you could it would be wonderful.

This one may have the incoming woosh you are lookin for

This is for where I operated from in Iraq, the guys sound Danish probably from DANBAT, also operating from the COB.

Anyhow the first impact is a 103mm rocket and the second impact is the mortar hit.

Its actually the sound of supersonic bullets in flight breaking the sound barrier, and not the impacts on the ground.

I don't think so. Were really far from line of fire, it's similar to the sound ACE_SM uses for the impacts, and you can see youtube videos where that sound is heard in conjunction with 30mm explosions hundreds of meters away.

And how on earth would a sonic snap be louder than hundreds of 30mm explosives going off? Because there was no other sound, besides the muzzle report. I've yet to see an A-10 video with three sounds, as this would put the photographer in mortal danger. There are, however, videos where GAU-8 impacts occur in under 200m and you get that same sound.

I never changed the the AV-8 or F35 or even the Su-34... and I never wanted to do that ... sry ... yah, I said I want to change all vehicles with placeholder sounds ... but ... I have no time these days... and really want to work on the DLC's for some time...

I think about this all tomorrow or even later. Need some rest now... thanks...

Err, really?

One thing about this mod is that vehicles can be heard for hundreds of meters around. Maybe a bit more volume wouldn't hurt, so long as it didn't translate to the sound carrying farther.

I know, i hope that the volume can be raised without having the sound travelling longer distances. Anyway from my personal experience army vehicles, especially tanks, are very loud. I have yet to come across a sound mod that has the right volume for them even though this one comes close.
