kiptanoi 10 Posted August 6, 2009 (edited) For the second time arma 2 is craching after this 1.03 patch. (the photo is just to show you how everything look like after the crach.) When arma2 run, it just crach in a second, pow, then arma2 is not responding, and I need to force arma2 to running. I hade no problem with 1.00 and 1.02 patches with graphics, and no problem in other game. Yesterday steam installed latest patch (1.03) 10 minutes after that I got a crach when I throwed a smoke, And graphics after that was wierd, everywhere (see photo) Today I got a graphic crach once more in arma 2. I shut down arma 2 and open Internet Explorer, here is the resault of that. 376 kb All images are looking like that after this arma2 craches, and a restart of computer is needed to restore graphics. I do not have any problem with graphics before the installation of patch 1.03 And it is ONLY arma 2 that craches and get me this graphic failor. So whats up with this patch 1.03 ???? kiptanoi 10 Posted August 6, 2009 After a restart of computer all is good and fine, but when I play arma2 with 1.03 patch and it craches it look like my first post. =/ But now after the restart of computer, all is fine again. And temps on my card is 50 C, so no problem with temps. And computer have ATI Catalyst 9.
Snowwhite 10 Posted August 6, 2009 Hmm, doesnt look to shabby The game might stress the card too much. If you are running overclocked try running at default speeds. I highly doubt this is software related m8. Corruption (artifacts) like this are usualy RAM related (mobo or vid) Reboot is fine because you aren't running anything yet and system cools down fast. Again, I think it's a stress factor. Good luck though m8!

My graphic card is not overclocked, and this is the first time I have this problem, spooky it came after the installation of 1.03 patch, and I got no problem in other game, or I have no problem before patch 1.03. And I play the game daily. Again I had no problem with graphic before this patch. Ans this is the second crach in arma 2 since yesterday after patch 1.03. Odd. 4 IN 1 0 Posted August 8, 2009 (edited) Your gfx card is totally busted, might be over heating or some of the electron on the borad stop functioning (mostly capacitor), this is what happened on my old 8800GTS and i am not playing arma2 when this happened Edited August 8, 2009 by 4 IN
kiptanoi 10 Posted August 8, 2009 (edited) I dont know what to say, but cant you read ??????????????? I had Furmark standing for 2 hours, temp on card 70-75 When craches in arma2, the temp is 55-60 on cards. The card is not overclocked, and the cards work fine. I can play all other games without craches. I could run arma2 fine before patch. Not a single crach in arma2 since I changed maxmem to 2047 And this happens for the first time in my life 20 minutes after I installed this 1.03 patch. here is proof for my cards not overklocked. 313 kb ---------- Post added at 11:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:33 AM ---------- ehm, can i resize image in somehow? Sabbath 10 Posted August 8, 2009 Have you uninstalled the game and then installed it and tried running it with 1.01 or 1.02 and not 1.03 just to see if it is OK with the original then the first patch. If so then you will definately know it is patch 1.03 that is causing it.

If so then you will definately know it is patch 1.03 that is causing it. If you have read all, you can se that I am using steam. You cant download arma 2 with patch 1.02 then. But yes, I deleted the game yesterday and redownloaded it. Got kraches today... I have now deleted and uninstalled the whole steam, and are downloading the game right now one more time. Then I am going to try to play with one G-card only to see if crossfire is the problem.

Rexxenexx 0 Posted August 9, 2009 (edited) I'd turn Aero back on, since that didn't do anything, and wait for the next driver. From what you are saying you've narrowed it down to something new in 1.03. You can try one more thing. first make a copy of arma2 -so you can go back to 1.02- and install the 1.03 patch. Run msconfig and do a diagnostic startup. Then try. Other than that I only can think the driver needs to be updated by ATI. Also put the "-maxmem=2047" switch in the exe. For me that made alt-tabbing instant so it should ease memory a bit. You have the ram for it. Edited August 9, 2009 by Rexxenexx
kiptanoi 10 Posted August 9, 2009 (edited) I am allways use "-maxmem=2047" exept for today when testing all things out, and the new driver are comming at the 15:th this month, strange that it is only me who got this prob. Many in my clan run similar system like me, and they dont have this problem at all. First I am going to copy that folder, then patch my none steam version to 1.03 and test, then I am going to test other graphic drivers, 9.6, 9.5, 9.4 any of them, I am going to read some about them first, then I am going to try other sound driver (I use Realtek HD Audio 2.29 7/Vista now) But first lets test out none steam version arma 2 game with patch 1.03. ---------- Post added at 05:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:04 AM ---------- Now we got a new turn, it looks like the none steam game of arma works fine with patch 1.03. So what in steam hate my computer? Steam - Arma 2 run nice and good with patch 1.02 Steam - Arma 2 with patch 1.03 hate my computer. What is diffrence in this none steam game and steam game, (inside arma2 folder.) Copy paste this none arma2 to my steam folder? ---------- Post added at 05:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:12 AM ---------- And back to test steam version.... maybe a dream I had that it would work, but no, still got crach, its like my entire harddrive is stop to work for a micro second, it just take stop, the next thing my drive is doing is to colect data to this problem. So something in steam version of 1.03 is not right. The none steam version with 1.03 is working. This is my latest windows report I got, for this crach that I just have in steam version 1.03 I changed the language to english in windows, and now I got one report in eng. kiptanoi 10 Posted August 9, 2009 (edited) tried use -maxmem smaller than 2047 ? like 1023 , 512 and not using maxmem at all ? tried use -winXP switch ? Not with new patch, but I have tried to run game with one single card, but I still got this crach... And I have tried to not use maxmem at all to. But not any smaller number then 2047. And just now I run it with ATI catalyst 9.6, still craches... What is diffrent in 1.02 patch and 1.03 patch, any diffrent in use of raid in harddrive? any diffrent in use some other stuff that has to do with motherboard or something else? I can run the game with 1.02 patch with no craches, so ther must be something in the latest patch that not is in patch 1.02 that is doing this. I could try to install windows XP and try the game out just to see if it is working or not, in other hand that would not fix this particular problem. (U cant tell people to use XP in future when they have problem) Edited August 9, 2009 by Kiptanoi
Rexxenexx 0 Posted August 9, 2009 You'll have a lot of latency between devices in your comp setup with the multi-cores, the X2 vidcard, and raid. One hickup and boom-goes-the-dynamite. Which is probably what's happening. I haven't checked what was updated in 1.03 that would make it more sensitive but you might want to look into that. Keep the -maxmem=2047 in all your tests. Make sure you have a bunch of space on your harddrives. Defrag your harddrives. Run in diagnostic...hmm that might not let the raid driver go through... Try to run in diagnostic mode, that usually stops background stuff from pausing the game for a millisecond once in a while. You can also Check your memory using Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Memory Diagnostics Tool or monitor when playing using Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Reliability and Performance Monitor. See if anything is filling up and up and up until crash. Also that XP install wouldn't hurt either! ;) Do it on a spare harddrive if you can so you don't have to rape what you have now. Good luck with it. If all this fails then compare whatever is different you your buddies systems.
