GSP167 1 Posted November 9, 2014 Simple Hyperbole. Most modders aren't affected by this or won't care very much, anyone who does decide to boycott modding over this is being foolish anyway, only person getting hurt by doing that is the player. And BI doesn't make money from mods. And Island life will keep on using the work no matter what you say.You really don't understand how server hosting works do you? Bohemia has zero control over which servers run what, privately hosted servers are handled by private businesses that don't have any association with Bohemia at all. The best you could do is get the Arma 3 life servers taken down on an individual basis, but that would take weeks and Arma 3 life could simply find a new host every time. You're seriously overestimating the amount of "pull" Bohemia actually has. I've been talking about the serverlist and how BIS can prevent people from acceding certain servers with it. vegeta897 13 Posted November 9, 2014 I'm laughing that there is "no proof". Where'd you get that quote? I didn't say or imply there was no proof. I was asking you if you were saying proof didn't matter, because you responded to a post saying there needs to be proof with what looked like laughing at the idea of needing proof ("Need proof...heheh..."). I didn't understand your meaning, which is why I asked. Then you proceeded to ask what the point of BIS's licenses were if people could break them, as if the guy you were responding to didn't agree that if there was proof, action should be taken. war_lord 934 Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) I'm not even saying there isn't proof, what I'm saying is the only way you're going to galvanize BI into legal action is if you can provide evidence that Pay-to-Play is still going on. BI sees the piracy as out of their hands as long as it isn't on the forum. Only way you'll get them to act is if you can prove the allegations that donation for perks is still happening. Alternatively, you could report the models jacked from other games to the companies affected and see if they'll issue a cease and desist. tonic-_- 53 Posted November 9, 2014 and we're on 154 sigs - contact your community members this week to sign it too - please ask them to comment there and make their feelings known.when we reach 500 I will save the sigs to a pdf and send them to Marek Spanel. It is on the front page of my website so it is likely to spread like wild fire in the next few days. Obviously some people disagree with the petition and why some of us want BI to take further steps on things like this but what the large majority of people don't realize is that you do not know how people such as myself as a content maker feels until something that you've spent months upon months on it is taken from you and commercialized and then Bohemia just slaps them on the wrist and are told like a child not to do it again when we all know how the internet works and that they will always do it again. What it promotes is that anyone is free to do the same exact thing until they are caught and by doing that it will discourage people such as myself from working on or releasing any future content to the public. Whether it's content you like or not other people will feel different about and when it gets to that point where none of us are wanting to produce content to the public for your enjoyment then well you will have a dead game. And this is not just solely about addon makers because I am not a addon maker per say. The work that I put out to the public has been missions as I have not had motivation to do any sort of mod for the public but the point is allowing behavior like this to go on will only discourage us and without mods or missions well lets face it the game would be dead. The modding community has and will always make Bohemia and their products successful. Games without mods have a life span of around a year or two where as games that support modding and has a healthy and happy modding community last for up to 6 years minimal. And for the love of god would people stop making this about Bohemia fighting directly and legally for content makers because if you have not read already they can't, they have absolutely no legal pull so stop going back to beat that dead horse of a conversation because this is not what it is about. eggbeast 3684 Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) Proof is in the petition description now so let's not discuss whether there is or is not any evidence any more, as clearly there is, and we have documented it there for the late-to-the-party posters. - BIS could seek damages from A3L team (mike baxter, caiden, zannaza) as they have likely earned something in the region of $10-50,000 from this commercial project. - There are still 10 or so A3L guys who are welcome members of the BIS forum... and able to participate in the work undertaken here in good faith by the community of modders and mission makers. If it was up to me I would have culled the lot of them when Caiden got banned. http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?110356-Caiden (BANNED) http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?142622-Delgado (FORGIVEN) http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?69014-Tisor (FORGIVEN) http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?97281-Phelps (FORGIVEN) AT LARGE http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?110915-Zannaza http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?237041-mbaxter http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?127957-Hem http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?86504-Pr0mthesus http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?132141-Brobropopo http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?136327-Kurtt420 http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?177990-Schultzit - As for the rest of us we can choose never to co-operate with the A3L team members on anything, and ensure our license agreements prevent them using our stuff - watch this space - I'm working on a modification to the license to support this. Barotall 10 Posted November 9, 2014 My time in A3L was both a blessing and a cursing. The natural raw talent I've got to meet over my time there was incredible. A3L at one point had amazing developers who could make things out of scratch. Modelers such as Christian, Hem, and a few other drag along s. These guys are talented and eager to learn and that was an experience I'm glad I got to witness. Like any other community, A3L has both good and bad developers. The difference is who's in charge. When I was one of four project leads with A3L, I championed a new and creative experience that users have never been introduced to. Steaker having been another Project lead agreed with me that we should do an entirely new experience. This would have involved new coding, new buildings, and created a generally new experience. This was our dream. When you look at all the videos in which I've been involved in, you can see it taking place. Steaker and I pressed hard for new and original content. I noticed some of you bringing up the weapons pack, and according to Caiden who did all the contact with external developers, we were allowed to use them so long as we gave credit. So if the developers never gave us permission, then I would like to apologize because me being a PL, I should have taken the time to ensure that we did in fact have permission instead on having to trust Caidens word entirely. Note this is not an excuse for what we have done. I believe in credit going to where it belongs. As for the donations, I agreed they were necessary for our survival but I didn't agree with how they were handled. I didn't and still don't agree how some of the decisions over there are made around money conscious decisions. In our PL meetings, we often discussed how to proceed about releasing the content. Caiden instructed me that anyone who donated a certain amount should be allowed to have access. I said fine but as long as I was allowed to bring in regular active members on our forums who hadn't donated in which I often was limited to 25-30 people who had to be approved by him. A3L is money oriented, and that is a shame i'm sad to have had my name tied too. I could have stood up to him, but I didn't and that is a responsibility I now have to deal with. Now I know none of this excuses me from any of the past transgressions I may have committed. The only responsible thing I have left is to apologize to those I may have wronged. Caiden and I had a huge fallout and as such I have been banned for whats about to be four months. Steaker has since left after having been told that all his hard work is being removed and Caiden instructed the switch over of our economy focused mod into a altered version of Altis Life which it currently is. Months of progress destroyed because a few devs got lazy and just wanted to essentially screw around. Any admin who has supported me has been phased out by people who agree entirely with Caiden. A3L is in no position to change its current course, and any decision made over the past three months reflect entirely upon his and a few others administration in which I take responsibility for as well because some of those who now screw people over I had put into a position of power such as Zoo. A3L was a mistake on my part but now I have to live with the consequences that is has on my reputation and self worth. So I'm sorry. Nothing else I can say. I thought this was going to be a revolutionary new mod in the life of ArmA but instead I helped establish a monster that puts power into those who have influence (youtubers) and not the common man like I had been myself at one point. I wanted a mod anyone could have enjoyed, but instead I got bit by the monster I helped establish. I hope you all can forgive me. +1 mate nice one. :)

Tisor 17 Posted November 9, 2014 Hi. I have to say I'm no longer involved with A3L since months when I see those stuff going on there. Please, remove me from that list as I don't have anything to do with A3L since they started their new adventure with Tonics mission... check their forums for that. If I need to contact with someone from BI for proof, please write me a PM. Regards.
ProfTournesol 956 Posted November 9, 2014 Yeah, it would be better to check if those forum members are still active members of A3L before throwing their names to public condemnation.
Tisor 17 Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) I have to add that Phelps also left the A3L same time as me, a long time ago. On those time, we were the addons developers and we were making our very own addons, which I have proof of. Please, take this in mind. I'm an active member of A3 community and I don't want to get ban from an activity of 16 olders making money of something they don't know what they are doing. If anyone need more info, my private inbox box is open. --------------------------------------------------------- Edit: Conversation on steam with Caiden, I think this is enough proof: Edited November 9, 2014 by Tisor
GSP167 1 Posted November 9, 2014 "That thread is full of shit" lol man you mad beacause we're calling you out? And with the amount of "donations" he got, he's obviously making money, BI should go ahead and make a request to paypal to know how much money he's earned as "donations" from his server. eggbeast 3684 Posted November 9, 2014 ok Tisor thanks mate - am just trying to determine the team members who support the mod, with little other info available. at the end of the day, it would be a BIS moderator who might be asked to question the individuals. not just issue a ban willy-nilly. sights narrowed: http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?110356-Caiden (BANNED) http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?142622-Delgado (FORGIVEN) http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?69014-Tisor (FORGIVEN) http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?97281-Phelps (FORGIVEN) AT LARGE http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?110915-Zannaza http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?237041-mbaxter http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?127957-Hem http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?86504-Pr0mthesus http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?132141-Brobropopo http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?136327-Kurtt420 http://forums.bistudio.com/member.php?177990-Schultzit
schultzit 65 Posted November 9, 2014 Just a quick peek as I don't see why I should be involved in this: I took Applegate Community Project as it was released to the community, ported it to A3 and heavily edited that to make the map version A3L is using. I don't see any problems in that, do you? Anyways, I am currently developing a map from ground up.
