  3. I am also curious about this. I have had issues gifting on steam in the past and do not want to waste 30 bucks, if i have to start a new steam account for it I will do it. Is it a retail CD key that you get, or do they want to know your steam account so it can be "gifted" from BI? Confusing situation...

    Well I finally found a link to download the old updater, yet with gamespy going away in a couple of weeks it seems as if that is going to be a useless program (six updater) before too long.

    OK so it seems as though a repository is what I am looking for... but I don't understand what a .yml is, or how to go about creating one. Or, what the exact process is for setting up a repository in A3Sync. I looked at the wiki but it was vague, at best. I have a website where I could host the mods, and grant ftp access, just not clear on how exactly to set it up. Six support returns a google doc when searching for repo support. this is what it tells me: Repo management / Hosting This still needs to be done with SIX Updater until we complete the new Repo Manager. After launching SIX Updater, make sure Advanced Mode is enabled, then open the Repo Manager. So it seems as though Updater was the old program, and for the life of me I cannot find "advanced mode" anywhere in the current program. I am completely befuddled by this...

    not sure what you are saying? explain a little so I can explain to them for the sake of ease?
  7. Can it be done? Looking to add mods to the server and have an easy way for people to download them. Some of the guys in the squad are less than savvy and doing command line stuff just isnt within their grasp.

    Ahhh this I was definitely not aware of. Do I have to have individual @<addon> folders for each addon, or can I add the .pbo's directly to the /addon/ folder on the server? Im assuming individual folders for each (I have his HMMWV mod also) so they can each be added to the command line?

    Pardon the noob question, but how would I go about adding this content to my dedicated server? Is this a daunting task, or something that could be accomplished rather easily? Kinda new to all this, but I do have a clue as to how it works. Despite that, I can find no info on how to specifically add stuff like this to a server that is not running on my computer.
  11. Hmmm, good point. Not really a key issue at this point, but gladly I am month-to-month right now, so if they don't allow it, could always move to a dedi box if it turns out we did need it after all.
  12. Wow... what resources. The head, it hurts. I have PBOManager, got Mr-Murray's guide, and now my brain is nearly at the melting point on KK's blog haha. And all I wanted to do was spawn some extra vehicles and weapons...
  13. Not sure we would want a persistent server, but in the event it came to that could I use an off-site database? I have an sql server on my website host; would it be possible to redirect it to that? Apparently there are some versions of wasteland that support persistent bases and characters, but there's a mod that could be used (iniDB) that I already have on vilayer. Not ready to go that route yet, still trying to figure out how to tweak the mod to the settings we would like but it would be a good thing to know, I suppose.
  14. its mission.sqf correct? the one thats inside the .pbo? i saw well over a hundred entries in code, with lat/lon coordinates for entity placement for each one. was hoping there was a 3rd party gui tool that I could use to place them... actually *just* found the arma 3 tools in steam and I am downoading them now to see what i can do with them.
  15. I'm not entirely sure this is the correct forum for this, but it seems relevant to be here. I would like to do some editing of objects and placement for the wasteland mod I am running on my squad's server. Right now, we have A3Wasteland straight from GoT's github, but most guys want to see more vehicle spawns and weapons/ammo/etc in buildings than what the stock mod offers. I spent a good deal of time last night searching, but could not come up with any definitive answers. Much was confusing, heh. Essentially, I would like a TL;DR version of what tools are necessary, and what files I'll need to be editing, for starters. Something to point me in the right direction to get me started, and allow me to ask more detailed questions. Thanks guys!
