Is reading and understanding of context that difficult for you ? Who ever said that i was being forced to play this game, all i did was tell the OP about some of the flawes in the game he/she can expect when playing this game in multiplayer.
-
It has been some time since the OP posted this topic so he/she probably bought the game or didn't. To the people above me, the OP was asking about multiplayer not asking for advertisement for the game, if you post such a question on a forum you also want to know what is bad about the game and not just what is good. But just to reply to your last post, v-sync is mostly set to 60 fps and above, when your game has 30 fps with v-sync on v-sync does absolutly nothing. As for the 10.000 people that are playing the game, most have accepted the low fps they get in multiplayer and learned to life with it, however it should not be a reason for anyone who thinks about buying the game to not be told about its major flawes.
-
For the OP, dont listen to these people, they probably think that playing with a average of 40 fps is good and do not know any better. Arma has had fps issue in multiplayer for years and it might have improved a little it still is there. If you play on a empty server with around 5 or so player you probably wont have it, however when you play on a server with around 50 or so players you are going to have fps issues, you will have a average of around 30 to 40 fps which is to low to really enjoy playing a game no matter how good or bad your pc is, the engine will be the bottleneck. But you can of course believe the people above me that would most likely say "ah 40 fps is fine its more then enough , you only need 24 " or some bullshit like.

When you buy it you should know that you buy a mediocre product with poor support for multiplayer, the performance you will have in multiplayer will be far below what you would expect from any game.

ArmA 3 Rotorlib flight model locked server side
Daisai replied to oshydaka's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Now all they need to do is expand their filter so you can search on these options before you join a server. -
When i play Arma 3 i have issues with the side of my screen, even though the aspect ratio is set properly to support my 3 monitors it seems that the field of view does not really work to well. As you can see here http://cpdv.home.xs4all.nl/2014-11-08_00003.jpg the sides of the screen are completely messed up. Unlike you see here http://cpdv.home.xs4all.nl/dcs%202014-12-07%2020-19-33-36.jpg where the sides are shown in a proper way and here http://cpdv.home.xs4all.nl/eu4%202014-11-16%2011-27-21-77.jpg. Changing the field of view to for example 60 or 150 does not work, since it only seems to effect the field of view on the middle monitor and not the side. A game like Euro Truck simulator 2 by default also has this issue however that has a file where you can edit the field of view on the sides. --- This also happens in the current dev. build of Arma 3.

Some help with this issue would be appreciated, it has been 5 days now and not a single reply from someone at Bohemia.

ArmA 3 stops recognizing joystick as controller
Daisai replied to logitrust's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I also have this issue with testing 2 different joysticks, it seems to only happen when you acces the menu while already playing and not in the main menu. -
What kind of memory ? But i would say the HD might be an issue but with Arma you never know, the engine is pretty much the bottleneck on most systems.

Tutorial: Installation & Configuration of ArmA3 Dedicated Server
Daisai replied to terox's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Well now i have the same problem as i have when i use TADST, when i try to join with my other pc that pc is stuck on this screen http://cpdv.home.xs4all.nl/arma3test.jpg .... It can't really be a port issue since that problem does not happen when i launch the server.exe directly and get the default settings. -

Tutorial: Installation & Configuration of ArmA3 Dedicated Server
Daisai replied to terox's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
I have followed your guide and like i said before and was pretty clear in that, i have also tried using a 3rd party tool, that does not say that i have only tried using a 3rd party tool to host the server. I have a install of the server and everything that is needed, just like the guide said you should so thats what i did and it still is not working. The problem is with the .cfg file not being loaded when i use the shortcut that i made, even though i have made it exactly like in the guide. The server.exe is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma3Server and also the .cfg file which is named server.cfg is located in this folder, just like in the guide. The parameters of the shortcut are: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma3Server\arma3server.exe" -profiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma3Server -port=2302 -config=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma3Server\server.cfg -world=empty Which is pretty much the same as what the guide says, i have also tried doing : -config=server.cfg , however that did not work either. Firewall settings are all fine and all the ports are forwarded, because i do get a connection to the server the settings are just not being loaded. -

There seems to be a problem with this guide, i have done everything exactly like in the guide ( apart from the install paths ofc ) and my shortcut does not want to load the server.cfg that i have added to the shortcut. It keeps loading the default one with the default setting, i have tried using a 3rd party server tool like TADST however when i use that and i try to join with a other computer on the same network i am stuck on loading it, a problem i dont have with the default settings. -
That tutorial is for arma2 though and not arma3 and even if it is for Arma3 it doesnt say anywhere that it does.

Linux Dedicated Server feedback
Daisai replied to dazhbog's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Does anyone know how you can configure your server in ubuntu ? I have got the server running now and have put all the info needed from this tutorial http://erictgrubaugh.com/play/games/arma/installation-and-configuration-of-an-arma-3-linux-dedicated-server/ in the server.cfg file however when i launch the arma3server from the install it still gets the default settings. Do i have to use the start.sh to launch the server? because that one doesn't launch the server. -
Yes i have tried out that satellite and the idea is that you control something like that however from the control room. I am not really that great in making a drawing of the idea that i have but so i hope you can picture it a little, the idea is that you use a camera just like that however with a larger screen and more options. For example, to scan for water or heat or to see incoming storms and take pictures of intresting objects, like for example this where you can see traces of where there might have been water. With the expanded result menu from the analyze probe this would be a great addition. The main idea is to give the player more influence of where to land the rover and which to scan first and to assign missions to him/herself and not just go to a random rock because that rock is special.
-
Is it possible within the engine to be able to control a satellite which is orbitting mars to check for possible places to investigate and/or check for incoming storms ? There is already a view from above in a menu, but a bit more control with this could be intresting. I know that the current map is of course limited in size ( although its still rather big ) so you probably won't be able to view everything. This satellite can perhapse also progress through time, upgraded with different sights which allows you to detect places where you can send your rover or lander to. This also to give the players the option to assign missions to themselfs. - Example : You fly over a crater and use a sight which gives you a vague signature that you might want to investigate. One of your rovers is close by and moves over there to scan, gets results ( through the scan result window which is w.i.p.) and this awards you money for new research.
-
Yes like i thought it would indeed take up alot of time to make a detailed map of a complete planet, thats why it could be a idea to put the sattelite in a geosynch orbit and give it a smaller scan range for gameplay purpose. So you end up with a sattelite each sector which uses a scanner that has a range of something like 10m2 or less depending on which scanner or camera you use, with this you then scan different rocks or area's. I am not sure but don't rovers need a geo synch sattelite anyway for communication with earth ?

Going by the lack of reply on this suggestion i can safely make a conclusion with regards to the development of this game.

Take On Mars Development branch discussion
Daisai replied to felthat's topic in TAKE ON MARS - GENERAL
It only worked for 20 seconds when it was launched so..... :p You could make it a sightseeing object from it, shows the lander and the capsule like it would be today. -

Tutorial: Installation & Configuration of ArmA3 Dedicated Server
Daisai replied to terox's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Well considering that linux is the most stable OS for servers it would make more sence to first make a dedicated server software for linux and after that make one for windows. Also linux is free, so you dont have to buy a other copy of windows if you want to set up a server pc for this game. Which then would result in more people having dedicated servers. -
There seems to be a problem with installing Arma 2 through steam, i have now tried reinstalling the game several times even after deleting the settings files. However sometimes the game just starts up only then after some time you join a server you get a error that Arma2:reinforcements stopped working and the direct 3d 9 error. I have already reinstalled directx and dont have any mods running. I have reinstalled the game several times now so that doesnt solve it either. I am running both steam and the arma2 games as a admin. So far non of these things have solved the problem. It also isnt a hardware issue.
-
Like i said, i already installed the directx that i need... I said that in the first post that i made.

I reinstalled 9. Already had 11 installed.
