separate zoom function from Lock target function
Killbert replied to tremanarch's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
It's already possible. Don't remember exactly, I think you need to unmap the "lock or zoom", and have lock separately to mouse2, and use something else for zoom. -
I was testing choppers today, and came to opposite conclusion. DAGR seems too powerfull, or there are too many of them. Those things one shot destroys the APCs, and there are 24 or them. Is that a mistake? Looked up DAGR, and those things appears to be quite big...

One thing I noticed in regards of the darkness, is that overcast seems to have exaggerated effect at dusk and dawn. It's a nice feature, but maybe too much IMHO. As for the sea being too blue, I think the Mediterranean Sea is known for being really blue.

I get lot of LOD switching as well. I was trying to see some PhysX effects, but couldn't really see anything new. Is there something on config files that I have to turn on to enable?

What is fundamentally wrong with the underwater combat?
Killbert replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I don't think in real life it would be possible to stay in that stance you are showing. The upright position while stationary is what happens naturally I believe. You would sink in to the bottom, unless you actively maintain your depth. I haven't ever dived with equipment, but I think the way the vest floats you and weights on your hips keep you under, you would go to upright position. -

Well let's hope they provide us with options then :) Buy it from Sprocket, activate on Steam or Sprocket when the game is released. -
Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!
Killbert replied to royaltyinexile's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I hope if pre-purchase is required for the alpha, it won't be sprocket only. I'm willing to pre-purchase it from Steam, but not from Sproket. I bought Arma 1 from Sprocket, and had pretty bad experience with it. -
Who is publishing the UK release and will it be on STEAM?
Killbert replied to gimpymoo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
ArmA 2 is now listed as Coming soon (July 7th) in Steam. But it does not have a Steam page yet. -
Latest ArmA2 & ArmA2:OA Press Coverage | NO discussion here!

Indeed, the 505games has the release date: 26th June 2009 -
Black burning tank is fine with me, but for downed choppers and planes I would except little more deformation than in ArmA1. They should break into pieces when shot down.

Quad core processors are at the moment under utilized by most programs. All Suma said was that they are able to use those extra cores somewhat. This is nothing but positive, it won't take anything away from people using 2 cores. 2 core system is infact the best value to run ArmA2.
-
Maybe. If they were not planned to be in the game, then you shouldn't be surprised if they are not in the published game. And I think this thread is not a "suggest a load of new features" place. The suggestion forum has been around a long time, and it has pages of good suggestions. There is atleast the carrying the founded and suppression fire features that BIS has implemented, and some AI improvements also. Graphics and sounds are also improved. It would not be possible for any team to implement all the requests the community has made, there's just too many. However I'm hoping to see something more that what has been shown so far. All I have seen so far is Arma with very nice looking new map and units.
-
Why couldn't consoles use the custom mission too? If it has the same island and units, shouldn't be a problem.
-
They should put one core for physics.
-
I would prefer less micromanaging, and more general commanding. If the AI is smart enough, there shouldn't be need to hold their hand all the time. For example when setting up an ambush, it would be great if I could just tell them to "Ambush here, expect enemy from south". That would lead the AI to seek a good ambush position. The micro AI should at least make it easier to get the AI to go exactly where you want them to, if nothing else.

I never had this problem. I'm driving with keyboard arrow keys, and use trackir to look around. I have default config settings AFAIK, not sure why it works for me and not for some...
-
I think thats what we got with ArmA. Missions and the campaign seemed pretty hastly done. Hopefully we get something playable as well with ArmA2.
-
Grass looks nicer, thicker but shorter. Hope it doesn't mean low fps.
-
Do you have a 2 core CPU? I'm not sure if the ArmA server can use 2 cores, but if it doesn't, 50% will be the max you can get. That means the core that the arma process is running on is maxed. You should propably see more than 50% though, with the other processes added.
-
I have assigned them Keystroke z and x. Works fine for me.
-
Seems like a very nice story driven campaign. Nice prologue and story building. I got to mission 8, but that mission is unfortunately little too heavy for my computer. Nice job though, if only I had the hardware to run it.
-
Currently I only have 1, the Sprocket version. I'm planning to get the gold version, if it's released.
-
Those are fan made I believe, not part of ArmA. Well nuts to me. Very well done though I must admit. Yeah, those were well done, the second one was really good actually. Unfortunately the quality of the actual news reports in the original ArmA was not as good. I think couple of parked cars here and there would make some difference already. But I think the streets in Sahrani towns are actually too narrow for parkin. Game 2 was supposed to have civilians in it, and the player was supposed to be able to interiagate them about near by enemy etc. I'm not sure if that's still in.

Yeah, I would not recommend the sprocket version, that uses the softwrap. But the DVD version does not use softwrap, does it?
