Eh, while arma3 was a new experience I think I'll go back to arma 2 OA for the time being.

Now to not be a smartass, I'm hoping we'll start to go from the "holy shit insurgents holy shit holy shit oh god oh god -- oh wait, we were never in danger" back to super powers in a conflict that could escalate into a world war. A la ofp.

I wouldn't mind if arma3 took place in the 80s to do it.

China as OPFOR Vs U.S and allies as Blufor, maybe a Tiawan grab by China or possible China VS. Russia with U.S. intervention,I wonder who's side we would choose in that one?Or maybe an India VS. Pakistan war or possible second Korean War.As an American,I am proud to say we would stick our nose in any of these situations.:D

Or an Isreali war Vs. everyone else in the Middle east that hates them. That could easily turn into WWIII with the U.S and Nato backing Isreal and Russia siding with the Arab nations to protect thier interests in the region, that could get real nasty and it is fortold in the Bible so we should be seeing it soon.Better make ARMA 3 quick before the Apocolypse.;)

I would like to see an african conflict, one possibly based on Sierra Leone, i think it would do well considering that Isla Duala was an african map and it was probably the most played community map for ArmA 2, but if BIS did an african map, then there would be far more support for it.

Just think about it, great vast savannah's with bush here and there and a big capital city with smaller towns and villages around it.:)

how about a map of the world, click a country and quick battle and it generates a war there just for you.

Now we all know if they do that it will at least take 10 years to make

If it had to be any faction i would suggest IRAN ties in brilliantly with current events, say the BLUFOR US and the UK (america wont go to war without us) invade IRAN to remove the aspect of them gaining tactical nuclear weapons.

With the way things are you could bring a few more factions into it, germany, netherlands, estonians etc for BLUFOR who have moved up from the afghanistan deployment to the US attacking from IRAQ. Russia and china siding with IRAN.

Just an idea.

Considering that BIS have now implemented procedurally generated terrain and villages into Arma2 (OA), I think your idea may not be that far-fetched. If they continue to enhance their procedural generation techniques, so that they generate realistic clutter and objects, then we may even be looking at maps of truly infinite size.

This would even add the possibility for people to create simple procedurally generated maps without any kind of modding experience, simply by defining regional properties that the generator interprets into map and object data. (These maps would obviously be inferior to custom created maps, but at least they would be relatively unique and easy to make.)

Wasnt there a statement b4 the release of Arma2 that tis will be the last military release by BIS?

Dont wanna spread rumores, as i am also not able to post the source.

But i am almost sure i read that b4 ArmA2 release.

Well however, why speaking about an ArmA3 if ArmA2 is still more than interesting and rockin.

i believe the statement said BIS wanted to have a look at other genres of games (case and point Carrier Command) as they wanted a break from military simulators but said they may go back to them in the future

personally id like to see aSHTF scenario in korea, not in the real world of course. but in a sim. arty barrages on a capital city, fighting defensive withdrawals with millions of civvies fleeing along your supply roads. massive waves of air support.

wait same could all be said for a major european war.

but on the game engine side, phsyics and ai path finding, would be kinda cool.
