Vicarious 10 Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) Hi guys, I'd like to present my second Single player mission for Arma2 combined ops Operation Sandstorm - "You are to lead a German KSK team behind enemy lines to investigate possible war crimes and eliminate a Takistani Colonel". This mission was designed for single player play but will support up to 7 players for co-op, just bear in mind it may be to easy as its balanced for SP. As with all my missions I recommend using Zeus AI Combat Skills & AI Spotting modular by Protegimus, although its not a required addon. Operation Sandstorm features; -Detailed Breifing including photos -Working task hints -Hose patrol script (thanks to Wolffy.au) -save radio button (for those who like to play on expert) -UPS patrol script for random patrols (thanks to Kronzky) -Bullet time script (activates when you kill the target) -Mortar support Required addons; Arma2 combined operations It should take around 2 hours to finish in SP and I'm not sure in co-op, probably half that.Again i would appreciate any feedback that you have the good and bad and I hope you enjoy the mission!! Credits & thanks; designed and tested by Vicarious (please report any problems) Thanks to all those who write scripts for us mission makers ( Kronzky and Wolffy.au in particular)and thanks to all those on the BI forums and to BI themselves for the Arma / OPF series of course!. and to armaholic for their first class hosting!!! turin turambar 0 Posted July 14, 2010 Nice mission. Good work in the briefing, the map, calling for extraction, the mortars, and possiblity of doing the mission on foot stealthy or with the armed jeep. But it's a bit easy. I would increment the enemy numbers by 20%, in general, put two-three squads more around the "edges" of the combat zone so the player can't just go around instead of using the main road evading everyone, and in the finale in the extraction point i would create more squads (over time, so you aren't attacked by everyone at the same time), so that the m113 coming feels like your salvation, or at least a helpful allied, instead of just a glorified taxi. Vicarious 10 Posted July 14, 2010 Cheers mate, thanks for the advice I will take that on board for the next update, About the difficulty... that's the thing I struggle most with I either feel like there are too many OPFOR or too few, that's I rely on feedback because I'm the only one who tests my missions. I'll implement both those suggestions in my update and I'm glad to see you enjoyed it
Toasticuss 10 Posted July 15, 2010 (edited) You need to resize your image to below 100KB other wise you will receive an infraction. Just a forewarning. Its at 275KB right now. Cool looking mission though, I don't have Combined Operations only OA :( Edited July 15, 2010 by Toasticuss

Vicarious 10 Posted July 15, 2010 Very nice mission IMO, well balanced. Good work. Thanks mate I'm glad you enjoyed it, but therein lies my dilemma again... some say balanced others unbalanced ... I guess I just cant please everyone (each to his own), but I'll give it a shot , Thanks again!!

Well, guess it's a matter of taste, but i like missions where parts of it are quite easy and recreative, and other parts are tough. That's what i found here, so it's okay for me :)
Jonn 10 Posted July 17, 2010 You're missions are awesome man, keep up the good work :D
Craig_VG 20 Posted July 17, 2010 I enjoyed it very much as it was well balanced for single player with hard parts and relatively easy parts. Keep up the great work!
Vicarious 10 Posted July 17, 2010 Thanks guys glad you enjoyed the mission, I've decided not to update this mission as after the majority of the feedback has been good, and there are no game breaking bugs, also I personally love just the way it is ;). So thanks for the feedback guys and keep a look out for my next releases.
paolo2015 10 Posted July 17, 2010 I'm sorry that I'm bothering everybody. First again, I installed OA and then Arma 2 1.07, so now inside the Bohemia Interactive folder I have two folders, one for OA and one for A2. I put the pbo file into the missions folder in OA and tried to play this mission, but when I select it and click play, it starts loading and then it stops and says that a "downloadable content has been erased.caweapons_ammoboxes" Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Vicarious 10 Posted July 18, 2010 Your problem is your installing OA first so its not integrating with arma2. Uninstall them and Install Arma2 first THEN install OA when you go to install it it should automatically detect your arma2 directory and select it as the installation location for OA.... install it in that directory so in the end you will have only one Bohemia interactive folder and both games will be installed at the one location. Then you will have installed Arma2 combined operations... now place the .pbo in the missions folder and enjoy!!
paolo2015 10 Posted July 18, 2010 Thanks mate, I'll try it.
Dagobertii 10 Posted July 18, 2010 I've also have the problems, but I've bought OA from Steam. Is there anyway to solve this? When bought through steam OA is placed is a folder beneath Steam, not with the other Arma2 files. (Arma2 I bought on DVD).

Bulldog72 10 Posted July 19, 2010 How does one "gather info"? I go to the US checkpoint, go to the officer at the table and then...? Nothing happens, what am I supposed to do?
Vicarious 10 Posted July 19, 2010 @bulldog72 When you approach the officer behind the desk, look on the table for a folder then an action will become available in your action menu (mouse scroll) called "Take Intel", just select that and you will complete the objective, then don't forget to check your briefing for the updated information ;). If you have any trouble just PM me and I'll help you out. @ AP Arma 2 O FAN Thanks mate , glad you enjoyed it.
Bulldog72 10 Posted July 19, 2010 Ty, got it now! No clue why but on my first approach to the table this "Take Intel" did not appear - maybe I was standing in a blind spot or something. A reload fixed it. Finished the mission now, worked great for the most part. However, I had on several occasions some of my AI squad members become "stuck": not obeying any orders anymore and refusing to move at all. Only way to "unstuck" them again is manually taking control of the AI unit; and when I did that I noticed that I could not move either until I go prone and stand up again... however for the most part there are no visible obstacles present at all when this happens. stun 5 Posted July 19, 2010 (edited) Great mission! I felt you got the balance spot on for a spec op mission, just the right amount of enemies. Keep them coming! Edited July 19, 2010 by stun
warriner 12 Posted July 20, 2010 Very good mission in my opinion. I played it through twice with no bugs or problems. I would definitely like to see more from you. (I especially liked the burning wrecks that would wash out my Night vision)
