TovarishMimino 10 Posted June 30, 2010 go with sprocket instead. It's slightly cheaper and you support BIS a lot more. I was also trying to decide between SProcket and Steam. I went with SPRocket for this reason + it's cheaper. Downloaded at around 1mb/s, I think Steam has slightly higher download speed but it mostly depends on your connection. I dont like the fact that Steam forces you to use their client every time you launch the game, even though there's ways to go around it.
MavericK96 0 Posted June 30, 2010 Steam for me. Sprocket was going to be at LEAST $7 more for me here in the U.S.
Dwarden 1125 Posted June 30, 2010 sprocket price is with VAT if you not in European Union you pay 20% less

Placebo 29 Posted June 30, 2010 OA is showing as 29.99 Euros on Steam for me and Sprocket's OA is 29.90 Euros
pineapple-yetti 10 Posted June 30, 2010 As a steam user i would say DONT USE STEAM. as already stated in this thread everytime there is an update everyfile that is changed has to be fully downloaded again. This differs to the BIS patch that is able to rebuild the files and you only need to download part of the files.
MJK-Ranger 0 Posted June 30, 2010 Well, why not BIS and STEAM do a little chat and be agree to use beta patch/official patch via DLC in STEAM. Steam offers gamers in-game downloadable content. Steam offers gamers in-game downloadable content Press Releases - Valve 17 Mar 2009 March 16, 2009 — Valve, creators of best-selling entertainment products and advanced technologies, today announced the arrival of in-game downloadable content to Steam, their massively popular PC gaming platform. In-game DLC allows developers and publishers to use their own games as a platform for selling additional content to gamers. The first game to take advantage of this new in-game DLC capability is The Maw, by Twisted Pixel Games. Their first DLC releases are levels entitled The Maw: Brute Force and The Maw: River Redirect. Each DLC level expands The Maw storyline by fitting in-between the original levels as "deleted scenes." Twisted Pixel CEO, Michael Wilford, says "We're happy that we can now offer Steam customers significant expansions to the Maw story, delivering more Maw directly to gamers while they're still playing the game." DLC can now be added to any game on Steam, regardless of whether it was originally purchased via Steam, at retail, or via other digital outlets. It is also a feature of Steamworks, the suite of free tools and services available to game developers and publishers.

nedley 10 Posted June 30, 2010 I'd love to purchase this from Sproket but for the last 24 hours I have not been able to access the website! (From the UK). Maybe someone has the direct link to purchase screen, instead of trying to click through the heavily stressed site.
svo 10 Posted June 30, 2010 What you talking about its 24.99 on steam and 29 and change on sprocket. $39.99 on Steam for me. That's one reason I went with the combo for $46.99 through Amazon. However, it has been quite painful reading the boards knowing that my game is not scheduled to be here until the 7th through the 12th. :(

D00mbuggy 10 Posted June 30, 2010 I want to get it off Sprocket but the prices only show in Euros, is there anyway to pay in US dollars?

D00mbuggy 10 Posted July 1, 2010 Yes there's a dropdown on the right hand side? Hmmm, two dollars more on Sprocket than on Steam.
Amuro 10 Posted July 1, 2010 (edited) It's almost 10 USD cheaper for me to buy from Sprocket (Steam $39.99, Sprocket €24.92= $30.4257). Just remember to pay in Euros and let your credit card company do the conversion. Only downside is that the download speed is very slower (I'm in Asia), so better burn the files to a DVD or blu-ray afterwards so don't have to worry about having to redownload it again. Placebo 29 Posted July 1, 2010 Only downside is that the download speed is very slower (I'm in Asia), Download speed shouldn't be slow any more for anyone, if it is PM me and I should be able to help out :)
inkle 0 Posted July 7, 2010 Hi all, I'm planning to buy the digital version of ARMA 2 : Combined Ops. So my major concern is with the patches/updates. Which store have the better patch support, server download stability & less DRM hassle?? Which one is better? STEAM or Sprocket? Thanks.
Placebo 29 Posted July 7, 2010 Sprocket gives more back to the developer and it would seem is the simpler way to combine the two packages. You're outside the EU so you don't pay VAT to Sprocket, not sure if it's the same for Steam but that makes the Sprocket price 33.33 Euros ($49.67US)
liquidpinky 11 Posted July 7, 2010 Sprocket FTW, BIS gets more and it makes life simpler for yourself come modding and integration time.
inkle 0 Posted July 16, 2010 OK, i just bought ARMA 2 CO from Sprocket, when i use the Sprocket downloader, the speed is only 30KB/s, so i have to resort to direct download. Is there any difference between using Sprocket Downloader and using direct download? I'm located in SE Asia.
