Will the Operation Arrowhead use Multicam instead ACU(UCP)?

This news reports U.S. Army is about to dump ACU pattern (UCP: Universal Camouflage Pattern) and use Multicam pattern instead and some of units are currently using Multicam in Afghanistan.

The soldiers will receive the Multicam in late this summer. They say Multicam is 21% less detectable than UCP.

I want to see Multicam and SCAR in Operation Arrowhead. :yay:

It should since Takistan is pretty much Afghanistan, thats where those camos are going.

I wouldn't mind if they werent in though by BIS, modders are already working on them as we speak.

You will get your fix one way or another. ;)

Yes, but BIS quality is always best. And getting something like that right out of the box is so much more satisfying than having a modder use his energy to make one.

I'm just saying... :rolleyes:

@OP

I verily doubt it.

@Flash Thunder

I don't know when the Takistan conflict is supposed to start, but doesn't Harvest Red take place in October 2009? It wasn't that far in the future when ArmA 2 came out. Assuming Operation Arrowhead also takes place in the near future, say, in less than 12 months from now, would most troops have multicam?

According the official OA website the story of OA begins 3 years after Harvest Red.

And as for the OP question.. I'm not sure if I remember it correctly, but didn't BIS face pretty much the same situation with the first ArmA? I believe that there was also a change of camo pattern in the US Army and BIS reacted quickly back then - created the new camo and used the old one for the resistance faction. So I guess it depends on how far they are in the developement and whether the people responsible for this have a lot of more important work to do.

Anyway, different camo patterns isn't something the community couldn't do by itself, look how many different armies we have already. It would be nice to have it in the stock game though.

the first screen shots of ArmA featured US troops in the old DCUs, which were then re-tex to UCP, with woodalnd vests

maybe well get the same thing again, troops with MC uniforms and UCP gear ;)

edit: just had a thought, if BIS puts MC units in, it will put them way ahed of the game curve, and it will save us from whining that the UCP they put in game is way too light

I hope you are right! Would the design pattern of the uniform have to change?

What´d be cool if they´d give you the option when installing to either have Multicam or UCP Units in the campaign, but have both available in the Editor, even though that´s probably a lot to ask.

I´d be happy if they went with either of the two, though seeing as the US soldiers even get fancy things like SCARs in the game, it´d probably more logical to also give them new Multicam ACUs.
