Ideas for the next flashpoint upgrade

Ideas for the next Flashpoint upgrade, add knives and handguns. Add flamethrowers. Add hovercraft. Add vans and lorries. Add submarines. Change that big blue kill-zone into decent water, like in Delta Force etc; which allows diving and swimming. (Imagine that shooting down a helicopter/ sinking a boat then swimming down to the bottom and examining the wreckage!wink.gif Harpoons and Divers should be added. A giant transporter plane should be added. A two person fighter jet. A civilian jumbo jet plane. These are all essentials, plus upgrade the graphics engine for all the islands not just for the new Resistance island.

Ideas for new addon Campaigns. Add a prequel to Red Hammer, (where you fight in Afghanistan) the career of Gastowski and another unique one where you play General Guba.

Then try to make some official modifications, one featuring World War 2 and another the Ancient World (Romans, Greeks, Norse, Egyptians and mythology)

These would make Flashpoint far better.

By the way a strange ommision from Flashpoint was women (excluding Guba's secretary) and children (they will be in resistance won't they with the motorbikes? Add a schoolbus for the children)

I would put my money on that thought.

For the 1.47 upgrade we demand

* WW2 mod + campaign

* Afganistan mod + campaign

* Starwars mod + campaign

* Actual smell of war (this should have been implemented

ages ago - my monitor just smells like polymer plastic and

of the pizza I ate yesteraday)

Wrong forum I think Dawdler, this is not Flashnews, this is General Discussion.

Actually they were ideas aimed at Bohemia Interactive to look into

and design new campaigns like the Red Hammer Campaign addon, (Not all in one patch as I had initially intended for the first line of suggestions, but some of the weapons at least. For only they can rewrite the code of the game.)

I wanted them to change the giant kill zone into something which resembles water.

Even though some of his ideas may seem crazy to alot of you, a few have potential, especially regarding how OFP handles water. I can remeber someone posting and April fools (ive got a feeling it was Gimbal but i cant remember off the top of my head) and it got a fair view views and replys from people who would love the addition of useable "frogmen".

Unfortunatly, not of those suggestions would not be possible with the current game engine, like the water or melee wepaon that could be needed for mods and this is unlikley to change in the near future. As far as i know, the planned expantions like "Resistance" only has a slightly modified engine to cope with the enhanced textures and things, but i doubt it would support anything as drastic as the changes suggested.

Sorry to put down the suggestions but atleast you know why people imidiatly diss alot of them.

Do you honestly think a soldier with a LAW/AA launcher, or a machine gun on his back can swim? He can't. It's the same reason why there isn't a jump feature.

Sorry Dawdler if you had posted in news, but it has now been moved into General Discussion.

As for those of you who think this is an April Fools joke, it isn't and I find it very rude to call it one since they are very constructive comments which some, many people have suggested in the forums of almost all Flashpoint sites. I just wanted Bohemia Interactive to take note and to make new sequels, patches and addons for the game. I know the present code does'nt support many of these features! But Bohemia is revising the code for Resistance, or so they have claimed, and I dare say they will change it again after that too, so we will have decent water (which can be dived into and swum in), melee weapons flamethrowers, more than 12 people per group etc and the like. The purpose of my message was for someone from Bohemia Interactive to read and see what we want in are addons, patches and upgrades which they release and they will undoubtedly do it.

BIS can't keep giving free addons. And the engine is created/modified to suit the project at hand, not whatever everybody would like it to be. Also you almost make it seem like they aren't doing anything right now, and also as if it only takes 5 minutes to implement the huge list of requests from everybody.

Well you have specified several ones. Remember that BIS may decide to do something different in the future. Even if they are going to make a sequel, it may not be immediately, but in two years or so (begin on it, not release).

They are making a V.B.S for the public now they announced the otherday and they are also making Independance Lost and lets not forget Resistance.

I agree on the water, that it would be very cool. I was just a bit sceptical about the part of knives, large transports and two seat fighters.

The answer to that question is yes. At least for machine guns and assult rifles. I did part of my military service with A-dyk (swedish attack diving unit) and we used to carry Ak4s (modified G3's), Ak5's (modified FNC 80), Ksp-58's (FN MAG's) and Ksp-90's (FN Minimi) underwater. The AK5 could actually shoot under water. For the LAWs - I don't know, we didn't carry any and it is possible that they are not water resistant. There is however no need for divers to have anti tank weapons.

And I can add that it really sucks carrying a machine gun under water. The diving suite is by default balanced so you keep a certain level at a certain depth. Carrying the machine gun ruins all that, and you tend to sink. Carrying mines is worse however.

i've never tried to swim with a full combat load on me but i would imagine it would be just a tad difficult

as for flamethrowers...this isn't RTCW

pistols...slightly useless in the OFP environment

knives, easier to just shoot them

subs...this is a land infantry game, i don't think many people will go for "3 sonar get in sub" all you would really do was blow up the LST or launch some TLAMs

Some of the Dionysis ideas are actually good, if not all of them! The only problem is that they gonna be really hard to implement

But I would love to see Medieval Mod!!!! tounge.gif

What are you talking about?

I've seen dudes jump 200+ pounds of gear.

By jumping I mean jumping HIGHER than 5 cm biggrin.gif I really don't think that with 200 pounds of gear you're gonne jump very high. Be realistic.

I don't see any picture of those guys SWIMMING with that gear. I just see them walking around in water with that mg. For all you know they got there by using a small boat, or a zodiac or something like that.

This is not a patch idea, but more of a sequel story line.

I'd like a campaign to take place in the states. Possibly involving nukes having taken out half the east coast, and the enemy invading. The characters could be stationed at Fort Hood, TX and both the 4ID and 1st Calv divisions would be mobilized to take out the threat. The joy of using Fort Hood is that the 2 divisions have planes, helicopters, more tanks and arty then you'd care to count and then all the supporting infantry and vehicles.

I think this could make for an interesting story line and game play. The only problem I can think of is who the invaders are and where. I'd say after nuking the northeast and eastern coast, they'd probably want to try the south or southeast. However, due to PR and political issues...who would the invaders be?

I'm in Bosnia working for the military as a civilian contractor, it would be nice to drive my tank to Dallas and give the wife some sugar. haha
