Cackoss 10 Posted February 18, 2010 Hi everyone, I have a big bug with Arma 2 (patch 1.05). Nearly each time i want to exit the game i have a grey screen, alt+tab or ctrl+alt+suppr do nothing, the only way is to reboot my pc. I don't know what to do, it's very boring. If anyone has a solution... thx
76 0 Posted February 18, 2010 If you use 'Ctrl+Alt+Delete' in Vista or Win7 and nothing happens then I would say its making your machine hang.... go to Dev-heaven and do a search for your issue, if you can't find one create a ticket (new issue) and report it with as much valid information as you can :)
[aps]gnat 28 Posted February 18, 2010 I get the grey screen some times as well when I close ArmAII, but my CTRL-ALT-DEL works and I simply close the un-responsive ArmA2 exe. You didnt say what system you have. I have Win7 64Bit 4GB Ram, ATI 5700
thales100 10 Posted February 19, 2010 Yep, same grey screen here some times.

Cackoss 10 Posted February 19, 2010 The ctrl+alt+del has worked only once for me so far. My systeme has a fresh install with WinXP 32 bit. ARMA2 patch 1.05 WinXP 32 bit ATI Radeon 4870 Kingstone 2x2 gb Now, i prefer to "alt+tab" then "ctrl+alt+del" to close the game rather than the normal "exit". I don't know if there is a risk of malfunction to exit the game that way. I hope a futur patch will solve the problem that is -for me- a major bug (apparently many people have this bug). schaefsky 0 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) Just noticed this too, seems to happen when I exit editor and then game quickly (without much delay before hitting exit). Running XP 32bit, Arma2 1.05 german, NVIDIA 9800GT 1.82.50. Trying to open taskmanager via Ctrl+Shift+Esc and then killing arma2.exe works sometimes, often not (does not respond to any keyboard inputs then). Quite anoying when you are debugging scripts and have to exit-restart Arma2 for every change you make *hint hint reloading scripts (or pbos) from inside Arma2 would be really nice* Edited February 20, 2010 by schaefsky Forgot a patch
Tankbuster 1744 Posted February 20, 2010 *hint hint reloading scripts (or pbos) from inside Arma2 would be really nice* FACT!! For this year alone, Marek owes me over 3 hours. If it wasn't for my super 1337 fast starting SSD, it'd be even more.

Dead3yez 0 Posted February 20, 2010 I've had this a couple of times since 1.05. But when I get it I can't seem to CTRLALTDEL. I generally end up switching the power off button on my PC.
An Fiach 10 Posted February 20, 2010 I've had it too but managed to ctrl+alt+del to get out of it. Apparently the game causes a system hang on exit sometimes
Rough Knight 9 Posted February 24, 2010 I get this on one of my windows 7 machines. Never saw the issue using XP Professional. Has anyone had this issue with XP. Maybe just a vista or win7 issue.
kridian 33 Posted March 6, 2010 Yesterday I installed Windows 7 64bit on a fresh drive and I have just experienced this problem. I just tried to update some keybinds and then quit the game. Gray Screen. I couldn't end the .exe in the processes manager because I didn't have a cursor. Ugh. Wierdness.
scars09 9 Posted March 6, 2010 i have the prob with xp 64bit, most of the time i can kill the process by pressing alt-tab, shift - tab, delete, left, enter. blind fly mode :)
Tankbuster 1744 Posted March 6, 2010 and then quit the game. Gray Screen. . Ugh. :mad:Wierdness. How did you quit the game? I find this problem is worse if I Alt F4 and even worse still if I do so from the editor.
kridian 33 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) I didn't successfully quit the game upon pushing the exit button. Gray-ville. Then I did the ole Control + Alt + Delete to get into the Task Manager where I couldn't end the ArmA2.exe because my cursor was not operational. Going to try some things. ------- update ------- For what it's worth. I ran the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer and it added a file that I thought I had. I turned off transparency from Aero (Win 7) made sure the Steam Community option was turned off (Steam\Settings\In-Game Tab). Maybe something with that(?) --------- update 2 --------- Scratch the above, it still did it, just once in a 2-week span. Still a mystery(?) oldbear 390 Posted March 6, 2010 I have also the problem on XP SP3. I believe it's related with the new "modules" we get since last update. It happens on an irregular base, I have not be able to reproduce at will so ...
Victim ZSU 10 Posted July 16, 2010 I've always had it, occasional hang at a grey screen on exit - only fixable with ctrl-alt-delete -> task manager -> ArmA2.exe -> end task button. While it is only a little thing it is damn annoying.
ast65 10 Posted July 16, 2010 Well, from my experience this only happens if you exit the game too fast, that means while it´s still loading the background- menue- movies. When you´ve returned to main- menue just wait 10 secs before exiting game.
Victim ZSU 10 Posted July 19, 2010 Thanks I'll give it a go... As an aside, I already know that there's a way to prevent cinematics on the main menu when you first start ArmA 2, but what about on subsequent returns to the main menu after playing / editing?
