Pulverizer 1 Posted February 27, 2010 (edited) It's wrong to wish good luck? Anyhoo. I haven't heard of anyone who has succesfully got a refund from an activated, fully working Steam game in the EU (which Poland is a part of). If the game doesn't even start and you bought it from Steam store, you might have a chance. Edited February 27, 2010 by Pulverizer

Save your money mate. It's not bad but there is far too little of it to justify shelling out $50.00.
icebreakr 3159 Posted February 27, 2010 Err I still don't understand folks who won't pay for a game that costs like a simple dinner out or they even spent a whole lot more on smokes or alcohol :) SP is one of the most intense experiences (play Marine on Hard), but this game shines in MP :) Can't wait for DLC (levels)... Because it isn't worth $50.00 IMHO. It took me less than 3 hours to finish the SP and the MP kept me occupied for another hour (maybe 2). I don't see myself playing it again, it has 0 replay value. The MP maps are pathetic and uninspired. Most of them are just nondescript, symmetrical "arenas" (copied and pasted from the SP game). They really illustrate the lack of creativity these devs have. It's all about being able to justify the cost to yourself. You like the game, and as such, you are happy with the money you spent. I don't like it and see it as a big (and ongoing) cash grab using a popular IP, therefore, I can't justify the $50.00. I bought Napoleon TW the other day and I've already played it for over 10 hours. That game was worth my $50.00 (and I can see myself playing it a lot more over the coming weeks). Edited February 27, 2010 by BangTail

vilas 477 Posted February 27, 2010 Poland, Belarus, Slovakia, Lithuenia... half of East Europe, Russia except big cities, India, South America in some countries etc. 50USD for game is not much maybe for 10% of people over the world in some countries PC is too expensive so we don't have them in community nor addons, cause they cannot allow PC

vilas 477 Posted February 28, 2010 (edited) to get refund is simple : "sir it not works on my PC unlike rest of soft i have, there must be something wrong, i won't be buying new PC just for this game *, please change it for something in your shop, i don't want money back, just other product" of course later someone may have problem with install :( but they will give him new CD key so no problem (if game registered by CD key) guys who work in shops sometimes don't know what they are selling, what needs register, what not (if in your stand/shop/bazaar guy knows - your luck, most of sellers i met "just work here" cause you want get good seller employee for lowest salary job which is shop job) just like 90% of sellers knows "it is good" and nothing more go to any photo shop and ask "sir what is difference between Canon and Nikon autofocus" , maybe 1 of 50 sellers will say "-0.5 EV vs. - 1 EV Nikon better in the nightime and red-warm tones" for rest "all cameras are good" i know shops where works beauty girl, why ? she has no clue about PC and soft, but her look brings customers and they buy thinking about chatting her up maybe on west sellers are specialists, here they are "i couldn't found better job but i have nice legs and smile" , cause noone other will work for 200-300 EU 12 hours day by day, half of them are part-time workers, students etc. who piss on boss and refund, cause "customer is my lad, so not fu*** who not pays me" :) i know few people working in shops temporary and they have such attitude cause hate company brainwashing "sale meeting motivation team integration anthem" when shop keeper acts like it was sect if it was AutoCad i would not get refund ;) if it is "just game" i can * BIS products are only in the world that i buy new PC for , only worthy ;) Edited February 28, 2010 by vilas
Bulldogs 10 Posted February 28, 2010 Don't get me wrong. I loved the single player and enjoy a quick bash on the multiplayers occasionally, but the single player was way too short, the multiplayer is repetitive after 1 hour, and even though they are going to release DLC to extent the life of it, they'll most likely charge for it. If they don't I'll be happy, but I doubt it. It seems like they deliberately released a game that couldn't keep you interested for more than 10 hours tops (including singleplayer and multiplayer DM and skirmish), knowing that once you wanted more they'd release more as DLC for an extra $10-$15. I wouldn't be so upset by that fact if it wasn't for the fact that the game costs AU$100 in store over here, but I bought it through Steam at which I got it for US$65 (just shy of AU$75), that's more than games usually cost on steam (usually US$50). That said, they seem to have changed the policies for Australians. Most games released lately are coming out on Steam at US$70-US$90, knowing full well that Australians don't really have many alternatives to work with. (only cheap place you can order online has about a 1-2 month delivery time)
vilas 477 Posted February 28, 2010 can you deliver for example Russian version or like this ? i have people selling on stand things from Russian market (the same CD with music bought in Grodno costs 1/4 than in Warsaw) i often try to buy Russian CD, DVD or now i found that also in Germany CD are cheaper
Bulldogs 10 Posted February 28, 2010 We can but most places have large import costs, and the ones that are free can take up to 2 months

Bulldogs 10 Posted February 28, 2010 I'm guessing that there's no laws in place for different DRM's and activation systems, so anything store bought still works under the general software laws, meaning that regardless of it's activation or anything you can still return the software under law. When you purchase MMO's you get a card with a serial number under a scratchy. There is a disclaimer saying that when you scratch it you can't return it. As far as I know that's just a policy and no laws apply to it (it's not an actual contractual agreement, so it shouldn't stand) That said, once you do return it, the store would contact the company running the MMO and they would cancel any account linked to that Key. In both cases where STO was concerned, it took some arguing with the rep but they did finally acquiesce and STO was removed from their Steam list (I'm assuming the key was disabled). That isn't the only time I've heard of people getting their cash back, 4 guys on here got their cash back for Global Agenda IIRC. D2D can be a little harder. I got into a fairly big argument with them concerning Alone in the Dark and I had to go as far as threatening a chargeback to get them to refund the money. vilas 477 Posted February 28, 2010 We can but most places have large import costs, and the ones that are free can take up to 2 months i do it following when i buy CD with music from Russia or Germany (cheaper than in Poland) i make e-mail "sir bank wants 15 euro for transfer money for disc, can i send you a cash in letter" 2 guys agreed cost of CD with music 4 EU, cost of shipment by usual letter 5-6 Euro i pay 8-10 Euro for CD with music if i would have to buy it in Polish store, i would need to give 15 Euro if i done money transfer by bank - such transfer cost is 10-15 euro depending on your bank (in Poland) so ... i put 10 EU bill into letter, 2 weeks later i have 2 CD with music on my shelf :) and i am happy :) it worked for me twice , i never bought like this anything more expensive, but worked AvP 3 for PC in Poland cost 99-120 PLN depending of shop (ca. 25-30 Euro) Russian or Belarussian AvP3 probably costs 10-15 Euro, letter goes 1-2 week in Europe of course would be good if you could have bazaar stand with guy who sells orginals bought abroad - i have such guy
trickster1982 10 Posted February 28, 2010 Anyone else playing this game (PC version) getting random moments of lag in single player? The game seems to be running great, then all of a sudden & even when theres nothing going on it just pauses for a few seconds before carrying on as if nothing had happened, its similar to when it does an in game save, but its just at random! Its not my rig as far as I can tell because the game is lightning fast at all other moments other than these random lags!
Bulldogs 10 Posted February 28, 2010 I've seen that issue in some random games caused by either Hyperthreading or SLI/Crossfire. If you have neither of those then try running the game from Directx9 mode (Dx11 mode is very buggy right now)

vilas 477 Posted March 1, 2010 Anyone else playing this game (PC version) getting random moments of lag in single player? yes, when going out from cave to open ground (Marine), than lag taken 10-15 seconds
trickster1982 10 Posted March 1, 2010 What BD said :)The DX10/11 client is fux0red at the moment (at least it is for Nvidia users). Thats my problem then I think, I got a GTX275 a few weeks ago which has been great with Arma 2 & all my other games, yet this one even though it doesnt look like it should seriously challenge my hardware seems to be suffering with this random lagging, very odd! Im getting really brassed off with PC games being released buggy & unfinished, and then having to have intrusive online software (steam) chugging away in the background to let me play them! Bulldogs 10 Posted March 1, 2010 When it was released, AVP had a few random crash issues, especially under DX11, then Steam forced a patch on us that broke sound and made more crashes and other random issues with DX11. Since then they haven't released anymore patches (guessing they learned from the mistake with the first patch that rushing out another patch could break even more things)
icebreakr 3159 Posted March 1, 2010 New patch is coming today. http://www.ggmania.com/?smsid=28582
trickster1982 10 Posted March 1, 2010 Good hope it fixes the problem, the game seems pretty enjoyable especially as the Predator, but the pauses every couple of minutes were really starting to get my goat last night to the point where I switched off a new game after an hour or so's play, which is something I never normally do until im struggling to keep my eyes open with a new one!
