Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 9, 2002 Fallen Paladin, this thread is not realy a useful thing. Only germans can sign it! It is german law and only germans are legal members of the state and can enjoy the right to sign/revolt against a law. Aehmmm, I think Wolfenstein now got banned as well In germany (corresponding to gamestar). In the game we didnt shoot nazis cause there were none. All symbols were taken away and substituted by ordinary Wehrmacht symbols. I dont see the problem with banning CS, we gonna get Counterstrike Condition Zero soon anyway. And in the meantime you can play Global Operations or Ghost Recon

Joe Porta 0 Posted April 9, 2002 Crock'o Shit is getting banned! well its for the good of the Fatherland. If they say computer games promote violance what the fuck was Hitler playing! But I see your point Paladin if they ban CS, OFP will probably be next. But look on the bright side its realy easy for you to purchase hardcore porn while its next to impossible for me to get were I live This ultra-censorship should be feared because it might spread through the rest of Europe. All it takes is for some crackpot to go on a killing spree dressed as a FIA soldier and then blame it on OFP when his trial goes to court, thats if he lives ofcourse. Soback 0 Posted April 9, 2002 All I have to say is there's a lot of ways to express yourself. Violence is one of them. So if someone wants to play a game that has violence then he or she should be able to do so, and not anyone, especially the "big brother" should be able to tell them what or what not to play. What's next, they are going to tell you what to drink (In CA, this BITCH, wants to put a tax on soda, can you imagine that, her reasons are teenagers being too fat. WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT FAT? *sarcasm* hould get our money together and pay for liposucktion for everyone who wants it? *sarcasm*). So protest this form of control anyway and everyway you can, because it can and will spread from games to something else and then before you know it you will have a chip in your head and all you are going to be is a tax cow for the government. IceFire 0 Posted April 9, 2002 This doesn't seem like a way to charge people of money to me. It seems reasonable. The German govt doesn't think that it is good for their people to play violent games. There's nothing wrong with that. I don't think at all that violent games promote violence. But I do think that it desensitises people to violence. That is not good. People should not be getting used to over the top violence. It is not a normal thing. Another thing. What or who exactly is the bpj whatever? Anyways, I actually love CS. It is my most favorite game. Too bad I lost the CD. Anyways, Fallen Paladin, when is the decision supposed to be made? Be sure to tell us when the decision to be made. And I don't see how any of our signatures could matter. Only few of us may be German citizens. And I don't our vote matters if we are not German citizens.
Beagle 684 Posted April 9, 2002 I don't understand the whole problem... "indiziert" doesnt mean unavailable, it just means that there is'nt any advertisment for this title. You can still buy it, you just have to ask for it...! It's the same with some books, like Major v. Dach's "Gefechtstechniken" Band IV, or Hitler's "mein Kampf". These titels are still available, you just have to ask for it...! So this is no "bann" of CS, it's just a "bann" for CS advertisment...!

Do I smell another world conflict ?<span id='postcolor'> psssst, it is still a secret! We have thousands of underground bunkers where we produce our new AI tanks of the Hirsch class, which have the new impulse weapons and low distance microwave disruptor and the armour is no longer made of steel but high-density ceramics (harder than diamond). The new satelite system Galileo is used to interrupt you GPS satelites, it is up in space 2005. So the war of the future will be fought on ground again.  Planes will be blind! The problem right now is not that we are not prepared to face the US but we have learned our lesson to fight the whole world at once. So first we start to create different opposing parties in the world. Step one was our support of muslimic extremists. Mohamed Atta was trained in Germany, but you probably knew that. Step 2 is to prepare the European union to become independant from the NATO. Step 3 is the ultimate war...like you have never seen it before... Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 9, 2002 I dont realy know! I didnt play games like this when I was 12 or thirteen. I cant judge on that. But we are grown-ups and see world in a far more experienced context. But I can imagine a 12 year old, how he grins in a sadistic way when in Wolfenstein the bones are flying across the room. And if I imagine them talking in school about it: the bloody mess you can make with grenades. I dont have a good feeling with that. It reminds of when I was young and children in school talked about the forbidden Horror-movies they watched. After a few years those children became famous for their perverted minds and somehow it found a way into their grown-up character. If there are games or films children wanna watch or play. They get them whether they are 8 or 18. Except if they are banned or modified!

advocatexxx 0 Posted April 10, 2002 I'm inclined to agree. Many reports and studies have come out stating that violent games, movies and lyrics in hip-hop music have nothing to do with evil deeds that youngsters do, but I disagree. A child who lives in a safe neighborhood, goes to a good school, and has loving, carying parents should have a good childhood. Yet when they listen to music portraying people getting shot, heavy use of drugs... When they play games where more blood = bigger smile... When they watch movies where men with big muscles who blow stuff up and shoot a lot of bad guys are the ones who get all the chicks and fame.. Well you have to think whether these government studies could perhaps be purposely affected as Hollywood, Music, and Video Game market is very profitable, and plays a major part in the economic development of this country. To prove that these things cause youngsters to grow up as criminals might cause problems.

Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted April 10, 2002 Thank god i live in Holland where no game gets banned nor changed because it is too violent. Doom and carmagedon both where at a discussion here, but the one complaining about this was just a pathetic little stinky weasel. A guy that doesn't like computergames himself and doesn't want other people to play it. That guy was a swine. A vulgar little maggot. Doesn't he know he is pathetic? He is a  worthless bag of filth. As they say in Texas, "I'll bet he couldn't pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the heel". He is a canker. A sore that won't go away. I would rather kiss a lawyer than be seen with him. He is a fiend and a coward, and he has bad breath. he is degenerate, noxious and depraved. I feel debased just for knowing he exist. I despise everything about him. He is a bloody nardless newbie twit protohominid chromosomally aberrant caricature of a coprophagic colossal parasitic pond scum, and I wish he would die soon. He is a putrescence mass, a walking vomit. He is a spineless little worm deserving nothing but the profoundest contempt. He's a jerk, a cad, and a weasel. His life is a monument to stupidity. He is a stench, revulsion, and a big suck on a sour lemon. He is a bleating foal, a curdled staggering mutant dwarf smeared richly with the effluvia and offal accompanying his alleged birth into this world. An insensate, blinking calf, meaningful to nobody, abandoned by the puke-drooling, giggling beasts that sired him and then killed themselves in recognition of what they had done. I will never get over the embarrassment of belonging to the same species as him. He is a monster, an ogre, and a malformity. I barf at the very thought of that person. He has all the appeal of a paper cut. Lepers avoid that guy. He is vile, worthless, less than nothing. He is a weed, a fungus, the dregs of this earth. And did I mention that person smells? If He isn't an idiot, he made a world-class effort at simulating one. That snail-skulled little rabbit. Would that a hawk picked him up, drove its beak into his brain, and upon finding it rancid set him loose to fly briefly before spattering the ocean rocks with the frothy pink shame of his ignoble blood. May he choke on the queasy, convulsing nausea of his own trite, foolish beliefs. He is weary, stale, flat and unprofitable. He is grimy, squalid, nasty and profane. He is foul and disgusting. He's a fool, an ignoramus. Monkeys look down on him. Even sheep won't have sex with him. He is unreservedly pathetic, starved for attention, and lost in a land that reality forgot. He is a waste of flesh. He has no rhythm. He is ridiculous and obnoxious. He is the moral equivalent of a leech. He is a living emptiness, a meaningless void. He is sour and senile. He is a disease, that puerile one-handed slack-jawed drooling meatslapper. On a good day he is a half-wit. He reminds me of drool. He is deficient in all that lends character. He has the personality of wallpaper. He is dank and filthy. He is asinine and benighted. He is the source of all unpleasantness. He spreads misery and sorrow wherever he goes. I cannot believe how incredibly stupid he is. I mean rock-hard stupid. Dehydrated-rock-hard stupid. Stupid so stupid that it goes way beyond the stupid we know into a whole different dimension of stupid. He is trans-stupid stupid. Meta-stupid. Stupid collapsed on itself so far that even the neutrons have collapsed. Stupid gotten so dense that no intellect can escape. Singularity stupid. Blazing hot mid-day sun on Mercury stupid. He emits more stupid in one second than our entire galaxy emits in a year. Quasar stupid. Nothing in our universe can really be this stupid. Perhaps this is some primordial fragment from the original big bang of stupid. Some pure essence of a stupid so uncontaminated by anything else as to be beyond the laws of physics that we know. Maybe later in life, after he has learned to read, write, spell, and count, he will have more success. True, these are rudimentary skills that many of us "normal" people take for granted that everyone has an easy time of mastering. But we sometimes forget that there are "challenged" persons in this world who find these things more difficult. I wish him the best of luck in the emotional and social struggles that seem to be placing such a demand on him. P.S.: He is hypocritical, greedy, violent, malevolent, vengeful, cowardly, deadly, mendacious, meretricious, loathsome, despicable, belligerent, opportunistic, barratries, contemptible, criminal, fascistic, bigoted, racist, sexist, avaricious, tasteless, idiotic, brain-damaged, imbecile, insane, arrogant, deceitful, demented, lame, self-righteous, Byzantine, conspiratorial, satanic, fraudulent, libelous, bilious, splenetic, spastic, ignorant, clueless, illegitimate, harmful, destructive, dumb, evasive, double-talking, devious, revisionist, narrow, manipulative, paternalistic, fundamentalist, dogmatic, idolatrous, unethical, cultic, diseased, suppressive, controlling, restrictive, malignant, deceptive, dim, crazy, weird, despotic, stifling, uncaring, plantigrade, grim, unsympathetic, jargon-spouting, censorious, secretive, aggressive, mind-numbing, abrasive, poisonous, flagrant, self-destructive, abusive, socially-retarded, puerile, clueless, and generally Not Good. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 10, 2002 Wow, you realy hate guy (as it appears to me) ! Anyway, Damm, you are all so pragmatic! It is not about "children become violent and shoot someone"! It is not about that! It is simply the question if "violence in films and games" have a negative pedagogical impact! Noone in Germany would tell an 18 year old what he should watch and what he should play. He would not be accused of playing banned games, even if it would against the law. But an 8 year old developes his character and temperament based on the input (media) he consumes during his childhood and teenager life. Whether he becomes a criminal or not is not part of the discussion in Germany. Damm dont be so insensitive. Children can easily be influence and they have a hard time to disgest all the stupid fucking media they are bombarded with. Children always want to watch scary horror movies and once they did they cant sleep for a week and want to sleep in their brothers room cause they are scared. Furthermore is there no necessity for children to play cruel games. The gaming industry is full of good agression-free games! I mean look at the damm Skater-pro games, they rock! (Medal of honour is doing a good job too (without blood patch) whether you like that game or not but you dont see a single drop of blood) You are absolutely right about the fact that it is the parents obligation to watch after their children! But are they capable to? No always do they do a good job nor do you know what you children are allowed to do when they visit their friends home. The cases of school-shooting in the US should have shown to you how miserably parents can fail and what paedagogical ineffiences they had! In Germany noone realy cares if teenagers drink beer or have sex! That is part of their life and doesnt realy influence their developement badly. But living without brutal games untill the age of 16/17 should be possible no?
Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted April 10, 2002 I play aggresive computergames from the age of 8. Before that age i used to play outside and play terrorist with friends. I watched violent movies from my 5th age. Yeah, when Aliens appeared on tv the first time, i also was scared shitless. Also i watched Return of the Living Death at the age of about 8 or 10. I had piles of shit then, but i wanted to watch only horror movies and violent movies. I am not aggresive, but an overall nice guy. The games/movies don't make you the guy you are, but i blame think on the parents. I myself have great parents, and they allowed me to watch these movies and play the games at that age. All my brothers are just like me. I like to kill people on the virtual screen, and kill animals. I like watching movies where the blood spills richly. I want a lot of red pixels on my monitor. But when my father accidently drives over a duck or a rabbit, i don't like it. When i see a person (i saw it three times before my eyes now) splattered by a train i feel sick. If computergames or movies made you aggresive, i don't think i would feel sorry for the ducks/rabbits/splatterdpersons. So it is NOT the movies/games that make people aggresive. You have to know the difference between reality and a program whether on the computer or on TV. I must agree that some persons don't see the difference as there was once a TVshow where the guy said who presented the show, that u should set the couch on fire. The next day there was a little guy who set the house on fire because he was told by the TVguy. These things happen, but overall most people have their sence and wouldn't do something stupid. I mean, criminals also existed during the year 1300. How did they become aggresive??? Because of the opera's and show they had.
