Don't worry, you're absolutely right. I think an override config should be enough to force RH weapons to use HiFi or ACE sounds in case someone wants this. It's up to Robert to decide, maybe his ACE pack will not use his sounds for what is in ACE already (M4, M16, M249 etc.) while the regular pack will.

Don't tell me about the sounds, I use them a lot for actual tactical choices (as most people do), they're as important as visual data (anyone against this try and play the game with no audio).

Plus..sometimes I have a hard time deciding what sounds I like the most (e.g. M4SD and M249 sounds..both HiFi and RH made good sounds for them, in my opinion).

I'll leave the sound stuff to the sound guys, although I would think the ACE-compatible version of RH stuff *might* end up using ACE sounds for the sake of uniformity.

Love the CQB sight treatment, might we see something similar for OpFor weapons? I'd been thinking I might have to revisit O2 and try a proof-of-concept ArmA1 MLOD + CQB sight >>> ArmA2. All weapons with magnifying optics (including sniper rifles) should have a CQB sighting position.

Thanks Defunkt, I am working on the mgswp pack as we speak (or rather, write!).

I just finished setting the CQB point of view for the old weapons in the pack (Custom M4s, M4 SIRs, SCAR-L, SCAR-H) and I am now moving to the new entries in the pack!

That's great, I love your weapon packs, its gonna be awesome to see an update soon!

Also I have a question and request.

Is it possible to have the CQB functionality without installing ACE??? (I know its good, It's just not everyone's cup of of tea). Kind of just adding the CQB scripts to the RH weapons pack so we can have that amazing feature with this weapons, only by installing your mod.

Are you planning on adding an MP5SD with an Aimpoint? Cause I would really, really, love to have one ingame. :)

The CQB functionality is activated via an additional script file, called ace_sys_attachments. It is indeed a requirement for the ACE-compatible version of RH's packs.

The ACE attachment system then requires the weapons config to be changed accordingly, but the system itself is quite nested with other scripts and that one alone is pretty complicated.

I suppose one could re-write an ACE-independent CQB script and then put it in a pack. You can't just strip the ace_sys_attachment out of ACE itself because that would hardly work - and would be pretty unethical, too - of course.

You can actually do it without any scripts by configuring the CQB sight for specific muzzles. You then need to decide if you want to duplicate all fire modes (semi-auto/burst/full-auto) for both sights or associate a particular fire mode with a particular sight/muzzle. The later works quite well in most scenarios, if I'm using the CQB sight I'll almost always want burst/full-auto and for the optic I'll always want to be in semi-auto.

Exactly. It's definitely possible, just not by ripping ace_sys_attachments but by making a specific modification. That's pretty much it. Defunkt's idea is pretty straight-forward and should work fine.

Download Mgswp update v1.2

Download Hk416 pack ace version

Download M4 pack ace version

If you want non-ace version use cfg from normal folder and don't use both cfg files in the same mod folder - normal and the ace's ,

choose only one , that you want.

It wasn't clear if the mgs pack was converted yet, since it didn't say it was an "ace" version. But I finally got the download and I'm glad to see it is.
