Archamedes 10 Posted January 12, 2010 Just a quick question. I am really looking forward to arrowhead when its released. However i understand its actually a standalone expansion and that doesn't need arma 2 in order to play. So will my current mods be compatible such as ACE, SLX Flir, War particles etc... or is it back to the drawing board again
[frl]myke 14 Posted January 12, 2010 There are no clear information out yet but let me do a wild guess: OA will probably be the same way to ArmA 2 as OFP:resistance was to OFP:CWC. So OA may offer new possibilities but i guess the major of addons/mods will work "out of the box". But as said, not much more than a wild guess. This guess is based on the fact that the timespan between ArmA 2 release and OA release is IMHO too short for significantly major changes on the engine. By the way you wont need to br bringing SLX FLIR over... OA is supposed to have the FLIR simulation ported over from VBS
joey_45 0 Posted January 12, 2010 The devs [ or beta testers if the decide to have some ] can always try and run the MODs with OA and say to the MOD makers it don't work.... Just a thought though.

So will my current mods be compatible such as ACE, SLX Flir, War particles etc... or is it back to the drawing board again It depends. Short story short, if the inheritance of the new class are based on the BIS base classes (which should be the same for OA as it is for A2), yes, those should. Same goes for mods using scripts, since the language will be the same. But i reckon some adjustments would need to be done to some components of some mods/addons
eble 3 Posted January 13, 2010 I'd imagine FLIR will not work with current arma2 mods, as yet we do not know what in the addon will create the FLIR image. Arma1 to Arma2 conversion was straight forward enough, I'd also imagine OA would be almost a straight port, maybe with some small CFG changes for versions etc.
max power 21 Posted January 13, 2010 In the FAQ they say that FLIR is texture based, so ArmA 2 units will require FLIR textures.
sic-disaster 311 Posted January 13, 2010 They had better be, considering there are now Dutch troops i want to use them to make Camp Holland!
icewindo 29 Posted January 13, 2010 To what degree do original ArmA II and Operation Arrowhead interact? For example, can Operation Arrowhead units be used in ArmA II and can Modifications be loaded in Operation Arrowhead with copying them all to a new directory?BIS: ArmA II content can be used in Operation Arrowhead with problems. I guess single units, weapons addons etc. would work in AO, but sound mods and mods like SLX changing core gameplay would have to be adjusted. Also, units dependent on content of ArmA2 would have to be adjusted to include the content/have some "CAA2" project.
