beton 2 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) Hi... i have made some little progress on my Hürtgenwald map. Even if it´s still in Beta i think about releasing it tonight together with the required objects. Since i regard some parts of the map as playable but not finished i´d like to hear comments and suggestions. The roadnetwork works for Ai at most places but there will be more roads and paths added in the future. The vegetation is not finished everywhere since i have to make and add some winterplants. There are no military objects on the map for now since i have to test and redo many of my bunkers and so on. The groundtextures and clutter also will be adjusted in the future. I´m a bit sorry that there are no ww2 Units released yet...but im not able to provide them:( To play the map you need to download my Bet_addons 1.2 which will be updated with every new version of the map. Update: - missing roads included in my addonspack - roads on the map are changed and should work now If you don´t like playing on betamaps don´t download it... to all the others have fun... Downloadlink : Bet Hürtgenwald beta 1.3 and needed Addons: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1549967#post1549967 Mirrors are of course appreciated some impressions: Edited January 29, 2010 by Beton update

oldbear 390 Posted December 10, 2009 The German "ü" is doing all the problems. Try to DL the addon from a German site, they know how to handle that thing  Imutep link is working !
stephsen 79 Posted December 10, 2009 i havo no weed on the green areas...and many errors p3d files failed etc. and the performance are very bad ...but this map have potential :o no surrender ;)
oldbear 390 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) Map is hosted on Armed Assault.info but : Archive name have been modified to be hosted on our .ftp, for special char set such as "ü" are rejected Edit 2 hrs later : Back from a long run in T34 ;) on Hürtgenwald beta 1.1. I still enjoy the map, all the items for a great Hürtgenwald battle map are here and well rendered, the combat site is great, I like the narrow roads on hill sides, the woods, the large wastes on the flat highlands and the villages. I have get 2 errors during the trip, one at start telling : "Cannot open object ca\roads\asf10 75.p3d" One other, a bit later near Simonskall : "Cannot load texture ca\plants\data\blank_non.paa" What was a bit surprising is the variation of light and brightness on the map between pitch black to near white in some wooden area, I have seen that on some areas the _Sat is black, don't clearly understand why. Herbal Influence 10 Posted December 11, 2009 Absolutely nice island! I like the rough winter atmosphere with a bit snow .. very realistic!
beton 2 Posted December 11, 2009 Well... it seems i have messed up my Vanilla Arma during all this Modding and therefore overseen the problem with missing roads . Until the next update you may use the roads.pbo from Arma1(if you have it) as an addon. This should make the island playable for now. I´m working on some new roads and add them with the next update, as well as some more wintervegetation. have fun.. ---------- Post added at 01:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:09 PM ---------- i havo no weed on the green areas...and many errors p3d files failed etc. and the performance are very bad ...but this map have potential :o no surrender ;) Anybody else with the same problem? oldbear 390 Posted December 11, 2009 Man, you have done well, for there are so much things you must deal with in making a map ... It's difficult to be God :) [Mod mapmaker on]Hope you can share your knowledge about Winter vegetation[Mod mapmaker off]
beton 2 Posted December 11, 2009 Well, Inside the Bet_trees.pbo there are models called Bet_picea_snow. U can try them on your maps if you want, just unpbo, they should work without config. This would give me some information, if the repaint is working or if i have to make more changes to make things useable for everyone...

oldbear 390 Posted December 13, 2009 Ned and updated mirror on Armed Asssault.info Link to mirror : Hürtgenwald (v 1.2 Beta) Back from a T34 ride on the map Report : - not any 88mm seen during the trip ! - has made all the run [not so smooth] on asph. roads ... - at start got a message error : "cannot load texture p:\beton\bet_roads\data\betskala2_detail.paa" my start point was at 01-09 SW corner near a misplaced bridge. - got the same "cannot load texture ca\plants\data\blank_non.paa" I have already got in 1st test and it was near the same place near Simonskall on the road to Mestrenger Muehle. I have seen the 1st error is related to missing texture on side of the road on the stone bridge, but I wonder what mean the 2nd one. - get out a bit shaken from the ride due to the roads ripples ... a "smooth road" side effect ? But never mind, you have done a nice map .... keep up the good work !
