Njayjay 10 Posted November 24, 2009 Hi there, I'm trying to use the laser designator but it never shows the red dot. It only showed up one time and that one time I got a successful air strike right on target. I keep clicking fire but nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? Callsign 128 Posted November 24, 2009 its not so much a fire button as an on/off button. go into the editor, and place an A10 above your player, place some enemies and then just look through the laser designator, then target the enemy, then just fire once, then leave it "on", the A10 should attack the laser. maturin 12 Posted November 24, 2009 A recent beta patch removed the visible dot accidentally.
Njayjay 10 Posted November 24, 2009 Which button turns it on or off? It worked fine but just once. I'm not using any beta patches.
Thirdup 0 Posted November 25, 2009 Much love for the laser designator... Don't forget batteries (unless they broke that too). They are also in the standard equipment ammo crate. nO3Fei2VRAA
paajtor 10 Posted November 25, 2009 When you engage the laser-designator on a valid target, you see command-menu on left side...click your use-key (I have it assigned to click-mousewheel), to confirm and call-in strike. Keep laser on target, even if it's moving ;)

PeaceDoctor 10 Posted November 25, 2009 Which button turns it on or off? It worked fine but just once. I'm not using any beta patches. To turn the designator ON and OFF simply click left mouse button (fire command) once to turn it on, then click again once to turn it off.
77scout 10 Posted November 25, 2009 The laser designator only shows the red dot when playing on 'regular' or below. If you play on a higher level like 'expert' there is no red dot. Left click once to turn the designator on and then you have to just trust that it is functioning.

CarlGustaffa 4 Posted November 26, 2009 Note that the "laser dot" (which shouldn't be visible unless NVGs are used, due to being in the IR range) is bugged in the later betas. I'm hoping that means that 1.05 will provide a true on/off indicator as a texture. Turning on weapons crosshairs should also give a ring crosshair when it is on, but naturally won't show up on servers that have crosshairs forced off. JSj 12 Posted December 1, 2009 They REALLY need to separate the stupid crosshair (which should not even be in a realistic game at all) from the indicators for missile lock and laser designator on/off. Turning off the crosshair for firearms should not make it difficult to use other weapons and equipment properly.

What mod is that?
