jasonnoguchi 11 Posted November 13, 2009 Ok, its official... I am officially a modoholic inspired by my buddy gurachn. In fact, the shortcut that I am using to run my modded version is now so long that it has run out of space for any new mods! hahahaha, I have to resort to shortening the name of all the mod folders to fit in now. So, what mods am I running? Here's my mods: Puny Animations : for jump AK_Pack : all models of AKs Compass mod : working compass G36 mod : All G36 models GDT Launcher sight mod : working AT sights at last GL3 : Kick ass AI mod! Really changes the experience! Hifi Novus Aevum sound mod : Kick ass sound mod! Lowplants : much lower bush lag and hidable bush. multicam troopers : my favorite camo NWD Ballistics : Makes bullets fly the way they should NWD Scopefix: Replaces all scopes with realistic markings and wider FOV SCAR pack : My favorite guns Dynamic sound Addon: talkative soldiers at last XEH : To handle some of the mods I am using What mods are you guys running? :) (why am I not using ACE? Somehow all the download mirrors crapped up on me... I read the features and it REALLY kick ass! How I wish some of those features can be seperately available.) ricoadf 0 Posted November 13, 2009 I'm a modaholic, but as in I enjoy modding alot :P lol (altho playing them is fun). And I hate ACE so I like your list :)
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted November 13, 2009 ^... hehehe, thanks! :) I just added the Senchi Sky mod and some mods by Proper today. the Proper C Clutter didn't seem to do anything for me and the Sky mod didn't make as dramatic a difference as I thought it will. hamis 0 Posted November 13, 2009 ECS mod is a must, possibly all RH weapons too.
TRexian 0 Posted November 13, 2009 Hello, my name is TRexian, and I'm a modaholic. :) Of course, my addiction goes beyond just installing this stuff, I'm so deep into it I feel the need to create mods.... :D
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted November 13, 2009 Yeah, ECS is what I am going to check out next to see how it can enhance my experience. And yes, hehehehe going beyond using mods is definitely the route all modaholics take! hahahaha
sparks50 0 Posted November 13, 2009 ACE and the OPX maps are all that I run with. A nice change from the usual 1000 mods necessary in the launcher line I used to have.
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted November 14, 2009 Yes, the ACE documentation did present an array of FANTASTIC realism features not found anywhere like the stamina system, bleeding system, impact system, tripod weapon system... in fact, they made a simulation out of EVERY aspect of the game! This is what BIS should have done right from the start! Just one question... how is the performance impact of running ACE? Any noticable framerate drop due to sooooo many more calculations? gurachn 10 Posted November 14, 2009 Ha ha! I told you Jason. Like crack eh? ECS adds a lot of the stuff from ACE such as bleeding and first aid, and it seems to have the biggest impact on the ai. I also like a bunch of the Truemods stuff, (esp the FOV change) and the proper mods Impossible to go back to vanilla.
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted November 14, 2009 ^... hahahah buddy, its more than crack!!! hahahaha I now have 4 shortcuts for a single game! never done something like this EVER! hahahahaha. I do replay certain missions in vanilla just to see how crappy it used to be and how much improvement was made. :) After a while, you get so used to the new effects and gamestyle that you forget how crappy the vanilla used to be and how big a change you have made,so, playing vanilla from time to time is actually fun! hahahaha With soooo many mods, I am even starting a few profiles just to play the official campaigns on as you can't really continue playing modded campaigns in vanilla mode. i am now checking out ECS since none of the ACE download sites work for me. I am gonna just run ECS by itself (yes, one more shortcut) and then see if anything needs changing. I really love the AI mod by GL3 and how everyone is behaving so differently from the vanilla game that I am reluctant to have it changed for any reasons. :( In fact, the GL3 mod is changing all my official mission outcomes! hahahaha while the enemies would have been stupidly waiting in their camps for me, they are now out hunting for me! awesome! gurachn 10 Posted November 14, 2009 I am using them both, and frankly the ai is terrifying! ACE is no doubt an amaxing compilation, but I just found that it didnt change exactly the things wanted, or in the way I wanted. No matter though, there are enough mods to custom tailor the experience to exactly what you want. It can all get a bit compulsive though, searching for the perfect mix. Be careful you dont end up spending more time tweaking mods than actually playing the game!
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted November 14, 2009 ^... Its already happening...hahahah!
schaefsky 0 Posted November 18, 2009 ... I now have 4 shortcuts for a single game! ... You call yourself a modoholic and have only 4 shortcuts? In my opinion, that is like stating you are an alcoholic because you like to drink half a glass of wine on weekends :p Just kidding, no offense, mate. jasonnoguchi 11 Posted November 19, 2009 hahahaha! No offense taken mate! :) I just got my new rig together and am going all out into the modding community not only as a user now. :) Going to make some faces and camo for starters just for practise and then perhaps in future, I can come up with things that everyone can download! :)
Master gamawa 0 Posted November 19, 2009 In fact, the shortcut that I am using to run my modded version is now so long that it has run out of space for any new mods! Dude. That's pathetic... A real modoholic doesn't modify shortcuts. If you wanna be hard-core like us you gotta use a launcher. Modifying shortcuts = Alcohol Launcher = Crack
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted November 19, 2009 ^.. GOT IT! :) Indeed, its very very hard to measure performance impact of different mods if i have to go in and out of the game all the time! Thanks for the tip!
Gunter Severloh 4051 Posted December 1, 2009 add WARMOD to your modaholic addiction, have you been on Armaholic lately? good place for a modaholic to hang out and get a fresh supply of mods, lol http://www.armaholic.com/index.php
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 1, 2009 Already did! hehehehe Very nice! :) I am now more involved with ArmA2 right now but yes, I do hang out at armaholic too. :)
