Modern Warfare 2

Its worth it. Get it. The SP is very well done, fun and indeed at times exhilarating a tpw said. MP is also very fun and dynamic with larger maps and new types of play. Meanwhile all looks gorgeous without having a super computer.

But I wonder why people who don't like CoD type games to begin with are posting in this thread? Its like saying: "Hey I don't drink or like wine, but my opinion on the subject should still somehow matter and a wine tasting cannot go on without me ruining everyone's day".

Because it is valuable to the would-be consumer to get as much realistic feedback as possible before deciding to buy it. A thread full of "It's Awesome! Rox A$$!" doesn't really tell me much except that some people like it.

Since this is a mil-sim based forum, it is more than valuable on getting feedback from people who generally look for the same things in games. Of course some will like it, some won't, but I look for buzz words like "excessive spawning" and that lets me know in a major way that I probably won't like this game.

Yup, simply put (and beyond the stupid button mashing, idiotic story and unrealistic damage) the respawning is what really kills MW2 for me.

I concede that MW had it as well but it seems to be on steroids in the current incarnation. Enemies just appear and, more often than not, in places you could have sworn you just cleared.

Just played it on my flatmates PS3, and... I liked it, it does what it trys to achieve. He of course couldn't stop saying how cool it feels and how its like REAL war, you should see him on BF2, :j: .

So some people blame all the hate on the "fact" that we're expecting a mil-sim here? Rubbish.

COD1 and 2 were good games for the time, giving something fresh and I enjoyed them very much. Now it's just gone downhill. 100$NZ for 6 hours or so of entertainment that basically involves the same repetitive crap as MW1? No thanks.

Shoot several enemies, hide to heal, repeat.

Is it just me or the way the levels were in the first two COD games made them more fun and interesting? They just didn't feel as ridiculous as they do in MW. Maybe because the action was broken up a bit more and they were based on reality.

I admit the spec-ops mode sounds fun. If you have a good friend to play that through with then it could be worthwhile. But the SP just isn't worth it and it wasn't in MW1 either.

As much as I think MW1 is way better than MW2, neither of them come close to the first two (CODs 1 & 2). The levels were way more "coherent" as was the story.

It's the same "hollywoodesque" nonsense that ruined R6 (I don't mind GRAW so much, there is still some fun to be had there, especially coop). I've been playing Raven Shield alot lately and Vegas is a COMPLETE joke in comparison.

There is a different approach to mainstream games now and I find it kind of insulting. I want to plan my assaults etc. I don't want to run around a casino with an M4, shooting slot machines, while tripping out to the psychedelic lights. I know that's your average 14 year old Xbox 360 owners wet dream but it sure as HELL isn't mine.

Finally, Im not one of those "If it's not a milsim it's no good" people, I enjoy a wide variety of games (Dragon Age and Race on) as examples at present. A shoddy, uninspired campaign that lasts 2 hours with an unmoddable and broken MP component does not constitute a $60.00 price tag. They are charging $60.00 on the strength of the franchise name and this is the weakest offering yet.

I have no doubt the next one will be worse. These devs have really cottoned on to the premise that "if you build it, they will come". I find it so amusing that some people find MW2 realistic. These people really do live in a different world

So I'm not the only one. I was wondering why I remembered them fondly while the newer ones just didn't have the same effect...

Mainstream games just get dumber and dumber. Even though they can have an age restriction of 18 they are designed with ADD children in mind.

Although the first two COD games didn't have much realism, they weren't so ridiculous either.

The first COD was so much fun to play through, it's still the best in the series.

Well there's still some good games on the way. Hope isn't lost yet :)

World At War is pretty good. I have only played it on 360 though so maybe not the PC version. I do remember COD1 being pretty good. Nothing compared to OFP but good.

Good story and it was compelling to play. You wanted to see what happened next.

With MW2, I just wanted to get it finished so I could delete it. The story is so stupid as I mentioned before.

No doubt many of the dullards think the story is just as "realistic" as the

gameplay. /sarcasm off

As you say, we still get a few good games a year so we'll just have to make them count :)

Yah, that's not really sound logic. Millions of people buy Britney's records, that doesn't make it good music.

So sorry to disappoint :o

No logic in yours mate, because you are comparing music to games, which is not correct, how about comparing games with cars too? because most people by the cheap cars, and not many drive the luxury ones, does that mean the luxury ones are shit? No, this comparison with music isnt right, because COD is way ahead of other games, the closest one to it is GTA, and is still considered behind

How? Not in scale, not in graphics, and not in gameplay (Which is the same as in the old versions with some new stuff ducktaped on).

Im not making a comparison. I'm simply stating a fact : selling well != quality.

And you are comparing GTA to COD?

Whatever

And who is doing all this "considering". You? Because that WOULD be funny :p

Says who? What bullshit.

Whether a game is good or not is opinion. No matter how much you come here to preach how awesome it is you're not going to make a person like it.

The first COD was awesome. Now it's just rehashed big-budget crap made to milk the name.

That's subjective in the first place and I never made any of these idiotic comparisons or referred to other users as "n00bs" which basically lost you whatever small amount of credibility you had.

How hard is it to design a massive map with some trees and sand? lets see if BI can design a full city with full graphics, other than a replicate buildings and and roads that look exactly the same

Me, because with music, you get people buying millions of albums for different artists, e.g Michael Jakson, briteny, 2pac, etc

but with games, how many do you get buying over 10m copies for a game? very rear apart from the most successful ones, in this case COD series
