no use for a name 0 Posted October 10, 2009 (edited) agreed. I hate how sometimes they bounce 20 feet, then sometimes they stick right where they hit. makes it really hard to judge where they're going to land found an open ticket at the community tracker: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/show/3513 Vote!! Flash Thunder 10 Posted October 10, 2009 and stop bouncing like rubber-balls for that matter. -K They need to stop bouncing anyways they dont weigh .5kg's those damn things are heavy! Throwing them in Arma II is almost impossible. :(
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted October 11, 2009 So totally and completly utterly agree. We don't have a method of throw, and we have no indication whatsoever on where it is going to land. Some hardcore fans might argue that it is a matter of training, but I've thrown my share of grenades since OFP days, and not a single one has landed where I was "aiming". We need some kind of indication that goes beyond the normal "crosshair", and also more ways to throw it. As ugly as a circle on the ground would be, I'd rather have this than hitting nothing (or everything wrong) with it. I've thrown grenades in real life. Unfortunately (well.......) I never saw the explosion, but I have a strong feeling it wouldn't be safe if they bounced as they do in Arma.
nkenny 1057 Posted October 11, 2009 How about *gasp* adopting a mechanic from practically all other first person shooters: The longer you 'hold' the fire button, the further the grenade flies. Bingo: Skill-based trainable grenade throwing. -K

Murklor 10 Posted October 11, 2009 If they make it so the longer we hold down the button, the higher the grenade bounces, we could have basketball matches instead of wars. Good for a change. Sidenote: The argument is pretty moot anyway since few - if any - carry grenades. Everyone stack up SMAW rounds and DMR mags, since in BIS world 1 WTFOMG SMAW round == a paltry 2 bouncy-bouncy grenades.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted October 16, 2009 Bingo: Skill-based trainable grenade throwing. There is no skill required to toss a grenade. My first and last ever real grenade thrown hit its target without aim. The only requirement was to not drop it in the booth though :D Try tossing a stone through a doorway 10m away, it's not that hard. Try the same in Arma (at a fixed strenght even). At least I find it hard to draw a mental picture on where it will end up.
Jex =TE= 0 Posted October 17, 2009 Grenade throwing in arma has always been god awful. Raven Shield has had the best system for me and most realistic. You could guess very accurately where to aim to get the grenade where you wanted it (say though a window) but you weren't always spot on (it's good to miss sometimes). It also had under and over arm throw and arced beautifully. It didn't have a "hold button for more power", you just aimed higher to go further. Totally simple system that doesn't need any more complications and totally fluid for the fast pace of combat.
