Archamedes 10 Posted October 3, 2009 As title suggests I updated to patch 1.04 and there is no crosshair refrence in the game except when you bring up the optics, i prefer to use the crosshairs than looking down the sights and its made killing enemy much harder now. I have the UK release of arma not the steam version which the patch warns about
TimRiceSE 10 Posted October 3, 2009 are you by any chance playing on veteran or higher difficulty?
Archamedes 10 Posted October 3, 2009 no its on recruit as standard, i have looked around in the options and settings and there doesn't even seem to be a crosshair option
Planck 1 Posted October 3, 2009 If you select the difficulty that you want to play at then press the edit button you will get a list of various settings you can change, scroll down the list till you find the weapon crosshair option and check it is enabled. Master gamawa 0 Posted October 7, 2009 I know you will not give a shit but I will say it and may god himself be my judge. Don't use the default floating magical super accurate crosshair to shoot. It's not "ethical" and you deprive your self from the most important aspect of Arma 2. The CHALLENGE! Use the Minimal crosshair mod (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=7388) instead, that gives you a wider and less accurate crosshair. The minimal crosshair can only be trusted in very short ranges which is very realistic. Try it. Please! It will improve your skills and your gaming experience. It will make you a better person too. :) I am serious. Try it. Like... now.
dmarkwick 261 Posted October 7, 2009 The particular SLX file that does that is called SLX_ModWeapons_NoCrosshairs.pbo. Just remove that one file and you'll get your crosshairs back. ---------- Post added at 04:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:04 PM ---------- I know you will not give a shit but I will say it and may god himself be my judge.Don't use the default floating magical super accurate crosshair to shoot. While the above is an admirable suggestion, I will make one observation: The weapon when not in ironsight mode is still shouldered. It's not firing from the hip as a lot of people have suggested. As such, it's fairly accurate. Maybe not *quite* as accurate as the default crosshair, but it's certainly not firing-from-the-hip magic aim ;)
Master gamawa 0 Posted October 7, 2009 Yeah you can actually see that when seeing the player in 3rd person. The model doesn't hold the gun or waist height and the model stance doesn't change from crosshair mode to ironsight mode . A good soldier (in a combat situation) always has the weapon held up and points at the direction he is looking at. Which is perfectly simulated with the use of a wider crosshair. When the soldier is about to shoot he always brings ironsights or scopes up. Unless he is carrying a machine gun and suddenly the enemy jumps in front of him and he panics and lets a few rounds fly to the enemy's general direction. Then again I am the kind of player that presses R (lower weapon) when not in immediate danger because it's normal. That's what people do you know... :)
