speeder 0 Posted September 9, 2009 (edited) Sorry, I don't know the expression in English, so I have not been able to use the search option, but I'd really like to see (like in ACE mod) that people standing directly behind a PRG, SMAW, M136 launcher would get hurt. This adds a lot to the gameplay when playing COOP. Edited September 9, 2009 by speeder Title updated to more correct one.
dogz 10 Posted September 9, 2009 Yes IRL you cant stand behind shoulder launched weaps without danger/injury. Backblast or exhaust are terms that can be used.
icebreakr 3159 Posted September 9, 2009 BIS didn't incorporate that (yet), but ACE2 will have it, along with ringing in the ears ;)
speeder 0 Posted September 9, 2009 Ye - But I'd really like it to be in the stock game... It's a bit much to download ACE2 just to get backblast.
icebreakr 3159 Posted September 9, 2009 a) request this feature at http://dev-heaven.net/ for BIS to add it (you have to register). b) wait for mod. c) do it yourself. d) eat a lot of beans.
speeder 0 Posted September 9, 2009 a) This forum is named: "ArmA 2 - SUGGESTIONS Have a suggestion for our Next Generation Game ArmA 2? Have a design idea? Post and discuss it here." So it should suffice to post it here. b) I'm trying to avoid a mod c) I'm no programmer d) I'm out of beans, and don't like them anyway.
icebreakr 3159 Posted September 9, 2009 Yeah I know, its better that BIS hears twice than never. I also agree that its inexcusable that military simulator is missing things that predecessor had it for months or years via mods of community that don't have tools, but make it up with dedication and self-attained knowledge. *thumbs up* for speeder's comment, hopefully you'll be heard. Inkompetent 0 Posted September 9, 2009 See it like that the suggestion forum is for discussing suggestions with other players, and once the discussion has born fruit and the initial suggestion has been polished, then toss it up on the Community Issue Tracker linked above, where BIS can't avoid seeing it ^^
galzohar 31 Posted September 9, 2009 Will ACE2 provide permament hearing damage for firing RPG? :D A guy in my company fired an RPG once without earplugs, needless to say he was rolling on the floor in pain, and had some minor permanent hearing damage... For the rest of our service everyone were laughing at him for being "the idiot that fired an RPG without earplugs".
max power 21 Posted September 9, 2009 Getting killed by the AI's backblast would make me lose my shit.
icebreakr 3159 Posted September 9, 2009 Max Power: AI should yell "clear!", "jasný!" and wait for 2-3 seconds before each AT launch :)
max power 21 Posted September 9, 2009 And then they would get cut down by the tank or whatever it is they are trying to shoot as they wait for the back blast area to clear. It would be a complex behavioural problem to solve!
EDcase 87 Posted September 9, 2009 It should be easy to automatically make the AI shout "CLEAR" when they switch to a launcher.
speeder 0 Posted September 10, 2009 It could be a difficult setting, så that they would only do it on expert... However I'm not sure if that's possible. BTW, I don't want you to get killed every time, but heavely wounded would suffice. And then mayby 1 in 20 times you should die from it.
max power 21 Posted September 10, 2009 It should be easy to automatically make the AI shout "CLEAR" when they switch to a launcher. Well, it owuld have to be something else, because currently 'clear' means that there are no threats in sight.
Deadfast 43 Posted September 10, 2009 Max Power: AI should yell "clear!", "jasný!" and wait for 2-3 seconds before each AT launch :) You ran that through a translator didn't you? :D
trickster1982 10 Posted September 10, 2009 Getting killed by the AI's backblast would make me lose my shit. Agreed, especially as they have a nasty habit of firing AT missiles at lone infantry 20ft away
maturin 12 Posted September 10, 2009 Is the RPG in this game completely overstated? In CoD 4 (awaits outcry) it is, well, a rocket-launched frag grenade. In Arma, when it hits a tank it makes an instantaneous cloud of dust 50 meters in diameter and a fireball.
Nutlink 10 Posted September 11, 2009 Nope. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RB4cMnLd8zw&feature=related
enforcer1975 0 Posted September 11, 2009 ArmA is a do-it-yourself game, it's living thourhg the community. The game isn't finished yet as it is, even if it is playable. They should be thinking about other things than adding new features and whatever.
maturin 12 Posted September 11, 2009 Nope.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RB4cMnLd8zw&feature=related That's much tamer than what you see in Arma, and that's an M136, not an RPG-7. The CoD4 RPG is strangely wimpy, though.
Nutlink 10 Posted September 12, 2009 I don't think it's that much tamer than you see in ArmA 2, but your right, I was thinking M136 and not RPG when looking it up.
maturin 12 Posted September 12, 2009 I don't think it's that much tamer than you see in ArmA 2, but your right, I was thinking M136 and not RPG when looking it up. My remembrance of the smoke may be inflated. I was watching a battle from a helicopter, and at such a height the basic muzzle smoke is exaggerated so that it is as smoky as a flintlock musket. Maybe the RPG blast was extended as well. The smoke covered thrice the width of the road from up there.
