Tex -USMC- 0 Posted March 24, 2002 I saw a big improvement, most notably in smoothing out scrolling on the map screen, and generally overall increasing performance. Also, I may be imagining things... but everything looks a little prettier
ralphwiggum 6 Posted March 24, 2002 yup..just got it and my PC seems to be on caffeine!! this is a great patch...my graphics seem to be way better than what it used to be!
advocatexxx 0 Posted March 24, 2002 My nVidia Refresh Rate Fix for Windows 2000 doens't work with this new patch though. Damn it ! Â All my other video games are gonna run at a shitty 60Hz, even though my monitor goes up to 120. Â Good thing Flashpoint lets you choose the refresh rate. I'm surprised Windows operating systems don't let you select your own refresh rate. Â Why does it always go back to the default 60Hz ? Â I mean who can stand that ? Everyone I know gets headaches and feels dizzy after just a few minutes. Windows display settings should have a checkbox that will always use the highest supported refresh rate, even if the resolution is changed by another application (such as a game). This is a badly needed feature, has been for years. Instead they bother implementing useless Gamma correction, position, etc. Crap no one cares for. You can position your monitor directly from its controls, and every other program out there nowadays lets you customize the Gamma, so why don't they stop spending their time on this s*hit and give us what we need. Damn Microsoft. Damn them all to hell.

advocatexxx 0 Posted March 24, 2002 Thanks dude, I'm getting terribly slow download rates though. Not sure if I can trust another language version either. Don't want my display settings to be in French. Besides this display thing is itchy. Once I did something and ended up formatting my drive. Not even safe mode would work. I'll wait till they come out with a refresh rate fix for the English version.
advocatexxx 0 Posted March 24, 2002 one more thing I forgot to mention. After installing these new drivers and rebooting, my OS detects and installs a new device called "Nvidia Dualview", and in my device manager it's listed under Display Adapters. So now, in addition to my GeForce 2 Ultra, i have another one listed Nvidia Dualview. And this one has an exclamation mark next to it saying "Device could not be started". When I go to my display properties it claims I'm currently running on Nvidia Dualview. Does anyone know how to fix this problem ? Thanks.

Actually I stopped playing OFP, but when I installed The driver and tried it out on OFP, it gave me the inspiration to play alot more lol. So yes the new driver is definatly worth downloading and installing. System Specs: Pentium 1.5 Ghz nVidia GeForce2 MX 400 256 RDRAM

SpaceAlex 0 Posted March 24, 2002 I have this new Nvidia driver installed and my OFP works fine. I have GF3. Preformance is the same, OFP looks a little better.
DodgeME 0 Posted March 24, 2002 Haven't installed em yet. Maybe they have increased the LOD bias.
Satchel 0 Posted March 24, 2002 I D/L them but i´m hesitating about using the drivers, as with the beginning of 23.11 NVIDIA virtually delivered crappy drivers. For more than half a year NVIDIA has not been able to solve the refresh rate problem under Win2k/WinXP, so users either need to manually fool around with the .inf file or use 3rd party tools to fix it- it´s a laugh if you ask me, really. All drivers since 23.11 doesn´t support negative LOD and other features via tweaking tools because of a WHQL "conform" (=screwed) registry entries and a bug in the drivers themselves, this is bad, because it´s the single most important feature to improve texture sharpness, especially in OFP. Currently i´m using 21.85, where negative LOD settings and all other tweaks incl. refresh rate fix work flawlessly.
N.o.R.S.u 0 Posted March 24, 2002 My OFP freezes & crashes with this patch, I managed to play a bit and yes the graphics were better but then it crashed again. A little help would be great. My system specs: 1.3 Ghz AMD Athlon nVidia Geforce 2 GTS 64MB 256MB ram
Mister Frag 0 Posted March 25, 2002 OK, this is really weird: with the V23.11 drivers, everything works fine. With the 28.32s, OFP will crash to the desktop if I finish any SP mission successfully. If I fail the mission instead, the game doesn't crash. Ditto with MP games, no crash, regardless of outcome.

RedRogue 0 Posted March 25, 2002 Creative 3D Annilator MX2 Latest Nvidia drivers = Insta reset under any Direct3D app. Creative Latest Drivers (Actually Nvdia's 2.7.50 Driver or the like) = Crappy arse graphics with lights showing thru all textures and a grid of black lines across the screen. And they say this driver is fully compatible with Win2K lol. And Older Creative driver nolonger available because the ignorant company of Creative doesn't archive their drivers, but thank god Win2K does all drivers that have been installed = fun carefree gaming. hbk 0 Posted March 25, 2002 As if anyone hadn't noticed, the GF4 are now on sales. So NVDA needed an new official release for their drivers as the previous ones (23.11) do NOT support GF4. I guess they made the release in a hurry, that would explain various problems (do not work fine on my GF3) Wait for an update, it should be coming soon. I recommend sticking to 23.11 for anyone using GF3 and below.
DodgeME 0 Posted March 25, 2002 The entire Det Driver that Nvidia adopter is plain bad. I mean when you support card from TNT2-GF4 the drivers are bound to be tweaked for one card and make the performance for another card reduce. As from the time of GF3 the Nvidia has been tweaking it's drivers for them making GF and GF2 cards slower. Although some drivers boosted performance in all cards some were crap for some and good for others. Now Nvidia will be tweaking for GF4 and the thing will go on and on. When R8500 came out Nvidia's drivers were based on speed to they changes the settings to make games run faster. Note 27.** drivers. Now though that they are safe with the GF4 cards they tune em for graphical detail since R8500 is said to have better image quality than the GF3-4 cards. They should make drivers for each card. That would make the drivers better as far as image quality and performance for each card.
jawk2 1 Posted March 25, 2002 just wondering then what are the "tuned by Nvicrap" driver for a Hercules geforceII GTS32MB? i really dont see any differences throught the last patch (note i stayed at 23.11 when i see the flame in the foras)
