kawilder 0 Posted July 31, 2009 So far I have only downloaded the demo, being a fan of ARMA I was glad to see that you guys were building another version. After downloading the Demo and getting to hear phrases like fu**ing and godda** . I was glad that I had not bought it yet. I want to see if there is a way to turn this off or get rid of it in the full version. I have kids and the last thing I need is a call from the schoolhouse and some teacher saying junior has learned a few new words from the game you play (ARMA2). Maybe there is a addon that can fix this or a mod?
bigduksixx 15 Posted July 31, 2009 There's no way. Arma2 isn't for kids, either. When I was in the army we swore all the time. So this is at least realistic.
dm 9 Posted July 31, 2009 ArmA2 is rated 17+ by the ESRB, quoting "strong language" as one of the reasons for said rating. If you're worried about your kids picking up profanity from a wargame, I think you need to recheck things like ratings and what else you're letting your kids play? kawilder 0 Posted July 31, 2009 I have grown up a bit more since my service years and no longer care to hear that kind of language and will not listen to it on my pc. Thank you for a quick answer I guess I will be setting this one out as will others I am sure. ~S~ kawilder
tophe 69 Posted July 31, 2009 You could always learn to mod a bit and remove those samples... But why don't you play with headphones? I mean you don't let your kids watch the game so why should they hear it?

nyran125 10 Posted July 31, 2009 yeah , sorry i kind of agree. The game itself is pretty light hearted compared to what the guys must really speek about, i meen didnt you see Full Metal jacket?. "awwwww me so horney". !!!! lol. Secondly i would recommend you play this when the kids are in bed.
kevbaz 0 Posted July 31, 2009 Happy to let your kids see you shoot and kill people but not ok with hearing a bit of mild language?

Dreossk 10 Posted July 31, 2009 (edited) - Play games where you murder hundreds of people in the battles - Play games where you drive like criminals and crush people in the streets - Play games where you can cut limbs and mutilate people BUT don't you dare swear in these games and don't forget to beep the cussing in the late shows on TV... icebreakr 3159 Posted July 31, 2009 This is probably how his LAN game with sons looks like: kawilder: Look... we can't have any firing in there *either*, because you are kids. I, uh... I want you to use gear option and drop magazines... everybody. kid #1: Is he fuckin' crazy? kawilder: oh my... go wash your dirty mouth! kid #2: What the hell are we supposed to use now man? Harsh language? kawilder: thats it, go back to cages!
[asa]oden 0 Posted July 31, 2009 I too would like to filter this language out, and small checkbox in settings would be nice. No, killing people and bad language does not equal eachothers - bad language only show you're a little less educated.

Don't be stupid. I know plenty of highly educated people who swear like, well, troopers. I'm amazed that the kinds of people interested in this sort of simulation can also be so sensitive about a little swearing. It's pathetic.
Sulu 10 Posted July 31, 2009 A swear word means nothing. It is just a word. To get upset over a word is pretty silly when it is said in a game and not directed at you.
Mudkip 0 Posted July 31, 2009 I too wish for this option, that way I can play with speakers instead of headphones.
Bravo0246 0 Posted July 31, 2009 (edited) Wow, the communities reaction to his question were a bit unnecessary. A simple NO would of sufficed. If you stick to mp you should be able to play it without the swearing, though it depends on the people on the server. Joining a Squad/Clan etc can make things easier. Sulu 10 Posted July 31, 2009 Probably because the community thinks it is odd that someone values swearing to be worse than killing
Mudkip 0 Posted July 31, 2009 Probably because the community thinks it is odd that someone values swearing to be worse than killing Except... The killing isn't real whereas the swearing is...
TechnoTerrorist303 10 Posted July 31, 2009 Your kids will be swearing out of your earshot from the age of 10 (or under) whatever you do and that's life I'm afraid. I'm intrigued, do you watch films or TV? Do you refuse to watch anything with swearing in on the grounds that you've "grown up"?
Planck 1 Posted July 31, 2009 Didn't see a single suggestion in the opening post so this is off-topic in this board. As the 'question' has been more or less answered anyway, I think it is time to close it. Planck
