The worst problem of all problems.

Recommended Posts

I cannot believe how glitchy this game is... I was really looking forward to it too. Ok, heres the situation. When i am playing my game. I can be in the main menu, the mission, the editor... ANYWHERE... my game RANDOMLY makes some kind of graphical error. That gives my screen random little images all over. From what i have noticed... the images are of things displayed in the game. Such as camo, trees, grass, the water... ANYTHING. Even the main menu does weird things. This happens everytime i try to play. And when ever it happens... it makes my game freeze up... and my nvidia driver crashes... it gives me a message telling me that nvidia just crashed after i minimize ArmA2. My computer specs... Nvidia 9800GTX+ SLI, Dual Core processor, Windows XP, 4 Gigs of memory, 2 Hard drives of enough space to fill up with 10 or 11 more games. I should be fine with system specs. NOW, i took some pictures of the annoying crashes... which took about 30 or 40 times to be able to save an image befor my computer screwed me over. And here they are...

(The first image is a quick photo of the ltitle images that pop up, however it is different everytime... this one seems to be of a tree, and the layout of my characters camo shirt, pants, and hat. WEIRD.)

(This one is my previous image from the game getting wacky at the main menu... got to love bugs)

that could easily be a problem with your graphics drivers/card. Have you updated your DX9 to the latest redistribute? have you tried a different Forceware driver? Have you checked the temps on your card to make sure it's not overheating?

I'm pretty sure this isn't a game issue and is something with your hardware/software/config

Everything should be fine... i just got my graphics card 3 weeks ago... it should all be up to date... and i even reinstalled everything you told me about. And im not sure if there is another Forceware for the NVidia 9800GTX+.

First thing to try: disable SLI and see if that resolve it.

Replace your ram with something decent, had this exact problem, and only new ram sorted it out.

Graphics card is overheating. Since I got ArmA2 I've been hearing a noise that I've NEVER heard my PC make before, the overheat alarm. Turns out it was on the temp probe I placed on the graphics card, so now I run ArmA2 with the PC side off and a floor fan blowing directly into it. Which works :)

I had this exact same problem and it scared me, i realized though that it only happened when i overclocked my video card, while i was tryin to tweak my settings, to get the game running at decent frames, once i turned the overclocking off though everything is fine, are you overclocking your card? if not then ya it might be a ram problem. either way, let us know if you find a solution.

the 1st pic same happened to me tonight when I 'underclocked' my GPU (trying everything)

seems a few of us are having probs on 8 and 9 series cards.

driver 182.50 seems most reliable. I get no BSOD's now and the game crashes less (seems to only crash to desktop when I am in aircraft now - which is still a worry)

I've even been able to turn some settings back up on this driver :)
