icewindo 29 Posted July 8, 2009 Answer is none of them. People are just discussing things but they're just hiding that they have no real idea.Since no real important politican said anything against "killergames" I don't think that they'll change the law. I wouldn't call an interior minister (actually all of them) unimportant :p . The Bundestag may decide on wether to follow their propositions or not, but the voice of 16 interior ministers still holds some power . http://www.chip.de/news/Innenminister-Killerspiel-Verbot-beschlossen_36791376.html
Takko 10 Posted July 8, 2009 Germans are quick when it comes to whining and yelling. Why dont you just vote some other party whenthe elections are coming
-martin- 10 Posted July 8, 2009 Well I'll try to explain this to you clearly, the reason that the politicians are saying that their going to ban killer games is just to make it seem that they are doing something thus increasing popularity of their party amongst older people who know jackshit about video games and this its right to ban them. As for the guy who went on a rampage nobody really knows why he did it and what was going on trough his mind at that time, maybe he had some kind of family problems when he was little or he was secretly in love with someone. Also this new capitalist way of life, drugs, crime and kids not spending enough time with their families stuff is contributing to these kind of things, I never heard that in Czechoslovakia anyone went on a killing rampage in school. Weapons should be absolutely illegal to own and anyone who owns them should be put in jail for a long time so that others would come to their senses.
Mc Speedfreak 10 Posted July 8, 2009 http://www.gamepolitics.com/2009/01/21/researcher-no-link-between-violent-games-amp-school-shootings interesting read i think
Commando84 0 Posted July 8, 2009 Lol I wouldn't be suprised if they would do that... I mean almost all the old school politician parties in Sweden voted yes to scan all internet traffic that passes through swedish borders... to be able to wiretap criminals and terrorists, yeah right..its total BS cause they gonna just sell the intel to anyone that wanna buy it. vshadow 0 Posted July 9, 2009 Ah reminds me of the “video nasties†problem which was supposedly causing a mental decline on children in the UK in the 1980s. Ended up in a big mess where the police didn’t know what was illegal and what was legal, and different videos were allowed in different towns, very confusing. This ended with the setting up of the BBFC to sort out the big mess and return everything to order, and start the age restrictions on all/most media material in the UK. I’m a media student so have studied this stuff, it seems to be the fads where older generations do not understand/ scared of, stuff the younger generation are using/ doing, and example of someone form my example was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Whitehouse (also dealt with TV censorship before this) Then it was videos, and the strange fascination with “gory†horror films, now it’s the same with games being too graphic/ gory, and gangster rap, which I slightly agree with as I go in to a violent rage when I here it as I can’t stand the stuff ;) And don’t get me started on court cases where they blame a film or game for a young offenders actions (even if they never seen/ played it), which seems to be used as a get out of jail free card almost. I wish good luck to you all and hope for the sake of you all someone talks some sense in to them or a good work around is put in place which allows people to still be able to use the games but also protects “the people at riskâ€. p.s. sorry if this offends anyone just my opinion that’s all :o

[GLT] Legislator 66 Posted July 10, 2009 Check this out ... all playing "killergames" before 1990? :D Politicians can forbid everything they want but they won't be able to stop such crimes.
-martin- 10 Posted July 10, 2009 And these Western Europeans were laughing at communism and now their trying to ban video games, ban sex while you’re at it as well and make a tax for berating air. Then they can give us special chips to see what we eat and where we go and say that it will protect us against terrorism that that government actually plans it self. :(
Alpha-Kilo 36 Posted July 10, 2009 The thing that makes the discussion of video games so irrational in my eyes is the fact that the politicians are using similar strategies and arguments against child pornography and games. This is unfair. Has anybody ever heard media reports of a catholic priest who plays violent computer games?
