Arksa 10 Posted June 28, 2009 I see this all the time. A car blows up, catches on fire, then does an explosion and sound like every 30 seconds. It's weird and sometimes annoying because it can kill...

sv5000 127 Posted June 28, 2009 Maybe also find some better cover other then an burning car/tank ? Secondary explosions are a very nice touch.

Thats why firemen always stand nearby car accidents with a fire extinguisher, because car wrecks can catch fire and burning cars fuel tanks can explode. Major Eyeswater 0 Posted June 28, 2009 Its most probably the simulation of the ammunition exploding afterwards.
Mordan 10 Posted June 28, 2009 For over half an hour? I've seen them "Cooking" this long so far. No big deal for me I don't don't use them for cover. Just seems like a bug when they burn so long.
Maki 0 Posted June 28, 2009 For over half an hour? I've seen them "Cooking" this long so far. No big deal for me I don't don't use them for cover. Just seems like a bug when they burn so long. I've never seen anything burn for half an hour. The ammo exploding is a very nice touch, I love it. First time I thought the enemy were shooting at me lol :D Was looking around trying to find them! WW2 tanks burned for 3 days, there is a video of a Panther getting shot and saying it burned for 3 days.

Dogtags 0 Posted June 29, 2009 Ive had BMPs blow up every 20 seconds for 40 minutes. Yeah I have seen this. I agree with secondary explsions for ammo etc but this happens on every vehicle type and happens every single time. The other thing in warfare which maybe there for a reason is if I shoot an AI guy in a recovery truck but shoot nothing else on the truck the truck eventually just explodes. This may be there to stop too many vehicles being present at any one time. Anyway the burning/exploding wreck thing that happens over and over is too much. Beagle 684 Posted June 29, 2009 They do stop doing this over time, this is obviously a feature, not a bug. Burnings vehicles obviously are a bad choice as cover.
raynor 0 Posted June 29, 2009 What's the Problem??? Thats why firemen always stand nearby car accidents with a fire extinguisher, because car wrecks can catch fire and burning cars fuel tanks can explode. Unless the all the fuel in the tank vaporizes it will not blow up. They are standing there as a reflash watch to ensure the damn thing doesn't catch on fire again. Nazul 10 Posted June 29, 2009 Different sounds are needing for burning vehicles, its the same as sound as other explosions. That annoys me, i keep thinking im under attack when im not. Varying sounds !! Bring it! Walker thats a scary vid, im rethinking my tank commander career now.
Maddmatt 1 Posted June 29, 2009 Unless the all the fuel in the tank vaporizes it will not blow up. They are standing there as a reflash watch to ensure the damn thing doesn't catch on fire again. The fuel can explode. There is plenty of Youtube footage of similar explosions from burning cars. Seen it with my own eyes when a truck crashed too.
Dogtags 0 Posted June 29, 2009 I prefer the way ACE did it in ARMA1. The vehicle may when hit explode or it may just be a wreck, if it explodes then it may randomly have a massive 1 minute long explosion when the ammo goes up and pieces flying into the air. There may also be random secondary explosions but nothing is a given, that is there is not always an explosion this makes for a better atmosphere in the game IMO. At the moment all vehicles explode and then continue to explode over and over, at least in warfare they do until a salvage truck drives past a burning wreck. I know BIS can't fix everything or be everything to everyone and they do rely on the modding community a lot in the end but at least BIS should provide the basics and that is functionality to mod and atmosphere and I think they are pretty close on both fronts, just AI, explosions, flickering textures and caveman wheels on vehicles at a distance through binocs or a scope, yes they are square. Schro 10 Posted June 29, 2009 (edited) Because you touch yourself at night. I think that might have been the reason. I stopped it last night, played arma 2 today, and the tanks and other blown up vehicles blew up once...and that was it. Excellent. Thanks for the tip 1h8u! Now I only touch myself in the daytime. :bounce3: Edited June 29, 2009 by Schro
