JTD Tracker Dog

Recommended Posts

Nice addon! Quick question, maybe as a separate dog but would it be possible to create one which "smells" (sees as in you're doing now) Explosives. More specifically mines and satchel charges i suppose. Would add in alot more real world uses to the addon such as convoy security operations!

Much obliged, Rai.

Yeah, the sniffing out of IEDs and other contraband is planned. Don't know what form this will take yet, but it's one of the things we want to do.

I'm sorry for coming across as a tad dense, but how are you getting the dog to follow the unit? I've been trying with all sorts of ArmA 2 scripting commands and getting limited success.

It's a new config dog :)

Strictly speaking, the dog does not follow, but it will "come" to the handler when called. Otherwise, it's leashed to the handler directly.

Unlikely.

We/DMarkwick have gone a bit stray (pardon the pun) on this one, with other endeavors - both within ArmA, and IRL.

I think we can release what there is, which is functional even if it's not exactly simple drag & drop :) I'll see about finishing up a readme and make it more clear about the simplest way to implement it. It's not too complicated really, an init line in the handler unit, another init line in something else (unit/logic unit) to initialise scents, and possibly specifically naming a HMMVW to allow dog vehicle transport.

*cough*

(What about the thing with the script delay causing serious stutters and losing the latter-dropped guffs?)

(And... what about the thing with that picture of you and Mrs. Fido?)

:D

(And, parenthetically, now that we know how to make modules, should we look at implementing it that way?)

(And, moreover, what's up with finishing stuff? That's something new....)

:D

(Topic bumped elsewhere for your convenience, Dee-Em.)

That's apparent on my low-end system, and then only after half an hour or so. Might have better performance on more average & up machines.

(And... what about the thing with that picture of you and Mrs. Fido?)

That was an unfortunate angle. I had dropped a snack in my lap and she was, you know, sniffing for it. *cof*

By "we" you of course mean you ;D

(And, moreover, what's up with finishing stuff? That's something new....)

Hmm yeah. Might have to call it an alpha beta pre release release.

Hey - get out of our private channel! :D

No - the private communications aren't nearly this coherent....

Is this how all behind the scenes development communication goes? :p

Heh, normally this would happen "somewhere else", but because I'm having some domestic wobble at the moment, we communicate wherever we see each other at that time :D

However, things should get back on track presently, I just need to be more efficient with my free time :)
