Fenix16 0 Posted June 30, 2009 I've gone through the process of reinstalling dx 9 twice now with no changes. It still tries to access memory that doesn't exist resulting in the crash.

StefX 0 Posted October 12, 2009 I had the same issue, I had to downclock my cpu of 200MHZ and since it is working fine. (now Q9550 @3.2GHZ) Before downcloking I've tried all other solutions, vcore, memv, fsbV ect... All my test for stability were fine OCCT and other games. Its funny you are all OC... jw custom 56 Posted October 12, 2009 Yes overclocking and not updated grahic drivers often leads to CTD's!
Gus 10 Posted October 12, 2009 I am getting the same d3d9.dll crash as well- so are the three other people I play with. This started after the latest patch. I tried a reinstall of the latest DX9 several times with no success. I noticed in my event viewer under "system" that it was showing that windows "file protection" was not allowing overwrites on the reinstalls. I then attemped DX reinstall in "safe mode" which I believe was successful. The crashes still occur. I did a system search for the d3d9.dll and found three places which included the newest version in the dx9 download in the game folder (Steam version). I copied the newest version and then deleted (after back-up) the two others found in "WINDOWS/system32" and the "WINDOWS/system32/dllcache" - this has cut down on the frequency of the CTD but has not eliminated it. NONE of these four comps are overclocked and all are XP Pro (mine SP2). I believe two are Steam games and two are CD. This issue has lost two of these players- it needs to be looked at. The d3d9.dll is supposed to be in the "WINDOWS\system32" folder, not in the game folder! What are your computer specs(just yours)? If you got a i7 Core CPU have you tried turning of HT? Do you have a nvidia graphic card, if so are you using latest drivers?
-=seany=- 5 Posted October 12, 2009 I had the same ctd until I switched in game video memory setting from "Very High" to "Default"
Gus 10 Posted October 12, 2009 Hi Custom. What you say is correct, however, in the Steam version of the game there is a DX folder in Arma 2 folder. A cab file contains the d3d9.dll file. It was simply mentioned because I described the process I undertook. I could have gotten the dll from a dowloaded update of dx9 on desktop but I didn't. I have an nvidia 8800 gtx and have used the 185 as well as the most recent driver. Specs: e8600 @3.33 previous to latest patch was @4815 Rampage mb 2 gigs ddr2 I've not had any issues with the game prior to this latest patch. Seany-will try the "default" stting. Thanks guys

Alienfreak 0 Posted October 14, 2009 I also lowered my VRAM settings from the 896 Possible to 800 and 1.2GB page file as VRAM only... no effect. Ill try removing the d3d9.dll, too, when I'm at home.
jw custom 56 Posted October 15, 2009 I had the same ctd until I switched in game video memory setting from "Very High" to "Default" I think this setting is very depending on how much vram you got, i got a gtx 285 with 1gb and when i have "video memory" on default i get CTD's all the time, but when i set it on "high" i get rid of the CTD's! Alienfreak 0 Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) localVRAM=1049821057;nonlocalVRAM=527433727; GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=4; Your VRAM looks ok. But probably you should lower it a bit for safety. Try 996147200 Also your nonlocal VRAM is just at 502 MB... thats a bit low! I would say AT LEAST put in the 996147200 there, too. Also 1000 MaxFramesAhead? Why that? That will make your game feel only really goofy... Besides... what is FramesAheadDetected for? P.S. I would always recommend increasing the rendering instead of AA. AA uses some CPU power, too, if I'm not mistaken. And the CPU will be the bottleneck for most systems... At least for a 200% rendering was MUCH better than even 4x AA. Not counting in those really UGLY auras models sometimes have with AA... Plus you can bump your HDR Precision, too, if you want ;) Edited October 15, 2009 by Alienfreak

steveio 10 Posted October 15, 2009 Im having crash problems also since I updated to the latest nvidia drivers. Before I was getting crashes every hour or so. I have diabled HT but that does nothing. Getting really pissed off with this. I wish Bohemia would sort out these problems..I find them a very arrogant company and cant believe that they dont resolve these issues as a matter of priority rather than all the game balance issues. Get the thing working properly first then sort out the smaller issues...its rediculous !
