Yeh but its not intended to - its very much more of an action game where you need quicker reflexes than with ArmA2. I think the TrackIR would not suit Bad Company 2.

No, unlike FT, the vast majority of the processing is done my the TIR hardware itself.

Hi,

When I play my own missions, everything is fine. I have tried a couple of missions/scenarios that I downloaded and I soon get very sluggish response from my TrackIR5. I have to then quit out of the game...

Any thoughts?

Does this occur with standard missions?

Just with downloaded missions or campaigns.

I hope someone can help me. When I go to move around with my mouse, the view/gun whips around like mad (when in fps mode). I'd read somewhere on this forum that TrackIR is supposed to only move your head (and leaning), not affect anything else - but right now for me that's not the case.

Also, I can't left click to place anything in the editor. I'm really new to this so I'm sure it's some kind of setup thing. Thanks.

Hmmm, odd that it only occurs with add-on missions.....

Tried running both the TrackIR, and gaming application as an admin (right click on the exe for each, and select run as admin)?

Looked at updating the video card drivers (ver 197.45)?

Any other applications running in the background?

It is odd. Once it completely stopped working. When I play my own missions that I make in the editor, nothing ever goes wrong. I'll try running the apps as administrator. I don't run anything in particular in the background. I use gamebooster to stop most non-essential services (maybe that's it). I do have a logitech G15 keyboard that has a few little things running (clock, and a CPU/RAM monitor).

While its nice I have a Track IR 4 and see no need to fork out a lot of money on this especially with the economy the way it is.The 4 does exactly what I need and well enough.:)

Since the latest Track IR version 5 software came out I think he is using the default setting. I've not found a need to change it either, which is testament to the work of the people writing and beta testing it imho.

These are several options under ArmA2. So far it looks like each game uses the exact same profile, or am I not reading it correctly?

You can make your own profile and then left click the "default" name to change it. If you change any settings in default and press save you will be prompted to save it as another name.

I also got a Track IR5 for not to long ago and I really enjoy it.

Its expensive, but I like the plug and play feature.

I only have a few issues.

A) A bug. Sometimes TrackIR5.exe seems to stack in task manager. You go in and you see its like 4 or 5 .exe files which all have to be shutdown manually even if the program was shut down before.

B) Precision, (F7) to slow or speed up movement, toggle isnt enough to compensate between the settings you like in the cockpit and the settings you would like as a soldier. It would be great to have a key that could toggle between "settings" 1 and 2 in the same profile just for games which has the duality like Arma 2 (cockpit and soldier).

Every now and then I get a sort of "twitch" where my view snaps back to what appears to be center for just a split second and then it resumes normally. It's almost not worth mentioning but I was just wondering whether anyone else experiences this.,.........

What software version are you using? Had this with TIR4 and TIR5 in arma II using version 4. Finally bit the bullet, and cracked it by moving to version 5 software (might still be in beta). Was a little effort to create new profiles, but works soo much better now.

I had this problem a while. I tried everything, with more or less success. It worked then it didn't. You may be lucky and it doesn't happen at all or you have to either restart the software or windows to get an effect.

Right now i have a fresh OS and even upgraded to the Gen 5 software and had this problem twice so far. What helped in my case is to switch to desktop and play a bit with the light settings.

I suspect it has something to do with the USB. But i don't know why the problem is there and the other moment it's gone without even doing anything.

There is no 100% setting that works for everyone if ArmA is involved. I didn't have this popping to center problem in other games with TrackIR.

I've been a beta tester for TrackIR since TIR2 and can tell you its quite likely one of a couple things. Depending on the angle of the camera and reflectors (including the active LED clip) sometimes two of the dots can get close enough to look like one dot to the software which can be hard to figure out sometimes, and cause some of the conditions you describe.

Other things are necklaces catching outside light at certain times during the day/year or other reflections like from a smartphone lying on the desk, etc.

Best to go into the software with the camera display showing the dots and do a full range of motion test to see if this happens and you can make sensitivity adjustments or move the offending object from there.

Also, failing that it's essential that you have your TIR plugged into one of the main USB ports on your computer and not one of those splitters, especially unpowered ones, as it's possible to get delayed serial transactions with other devices, or be starved for power draw.

Go into "Controls" > "Controller" > Select "TrackIR" > "Customize" > "Default" and it should map it so it leans.

Does TIR5 work with arma2oa.exe yet? I could only get it to work by renaming to arma2.exe so TIR5 would recognize that the proper game was playing.
