echo1 0 Posted July 23, 2009 How can AMD be "as competitive" Very simple. They made chips that were faster than Intel's and were cheaper. They, Intel, did kick your interests, the consumers interest, to be able to sell at higher prises independent whether AMD cpus are better or not. Of course, anyone with half an ounce of technical knowledge bought the AMD chips anyway. If you buy your PC from Dell or HP, your "interests are getting kicked" either way, irrespective of whether you have an Intel or AMD CPU. What was the point of that post? My head is sore from reading it... :(
Sharpethunder 10 Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) i used to buy AMD for a long time but since intel lunched the 7i i have switched because core for core intel are alot better the System i have now Processor: 7i 965 ex edition watercooled to 5ghz, 12gb of ddr3 ram at 2000mhz, 2x 295 geforce in sli my mobo is P6T Deluxe V2 30ich NEC TFT plus 1 ocz vertex 120gb ssd and 1tb samsung spinpoint F1 System type: Windows Vista 64 bit SP2 This sweet machine set me back £3500 My old system i had the old AMD Phenom 9950 BE With 4Gd corsair X2 8800 gts (640mb in each 1) sil 750GB HD Its ok... but my friend has the new Phenom 2 9950 BE and i used his pc and it is no way near as good as the New intel 7i and they are clocked at the same speed i alway bought Amd for years its alway was by far the best chip until Intel lunched the 7i Edited July 23, 2009 by Sharpethunder
echo1 0 Posted July 23, 2009 Yeah, but you have to pay an arm and a leg for them. Some of the Phenom IIs give you most of the performance for much less. That said, Intel has been axing the prices for all it's chips so it's more ambigious now.
Sharpethunder 10 Posted July 23, 2009 Yeah Value wise AMD was winning hands down for a while but now you can pick up an Intel chip for about £10-£35 more that AMD one which will give you more preformance chip for chip over an amd one

Sharpethunder 10 Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) you should put you old one in The GMA 31 is an onboard graphics output device, on board graphics has historically been much slower and less feature packed than their alternative PCI-E or AGP brothers. with support for Shader Model 3 and DirectX 9.0c. Mainly though it's positioned as an output device for media PCs, and integrates features like hardware de-interlacing for video." This basically says that Intel made this device as a means to display graphics and cope with low end graphical demands but nothing much more beyond this. i found a review lol in other words do what i told To do lol Can you afford a new Graphic card?? Yeti 10 Posted July 23, 2009 I got a question about video cards.... I havent seen any list of approved or video cards that dont work. I got a Nvidia Quadro FX 360M. Arma I works on my computer but I dont know if Arma II will. I dont want to waste $50 on a game that doesnt work. Thanks
Barely-injured 0 Posted July 23, 2009 my main gripe with the ai is their accuracy with vehicle mounted weapons I think vehicle mounted weapons are themselves very accurate weapons. Yesterday in mp i mounted a vehicle's m240 and I could not believe the ease with which i was able to hit moving targets even as far as 1000m + and sometimes from the first burst ( the vehicle was not moving obviously ). I have a similar card in my laptop, and it has trouble running ArmA I, I wouldnt even bother trying ArmA 2 on it. ---------- Post added at 10:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:52 PM ---------- lol :DI know how to install a card :p but i mean since i have a onboard card aswell should i do anything special or just put in my old gfx card in it The integrated one is built into the motherboard so it can't be removed. You merely put in your 9600GT and the computer will use that. Sometimes you have to disable the integrated one in the BIOS so that it doesnt use up your computers RAM, your motherboard's manual should have details on that. That said, it is not an essential step.
