mrcash2009 0 Posted June 13, 2008 Thats it Nicholas strike while the irons hot, keep the momentum up. You can burn out after you distribute the final files Nice to see the speed on grass / running the maps at once issues ironed out. I had a blast with the densest map and in some ways the Frame rate loss isn't all that awful (for me at least). All missions that I have created on the map work fine no matter which one I switch about. And remember once you have recovered from burn out, get google maps searching the UK/Scotland/Ireland for a new one
Nicholas Bell 0 Posted June 13, 2008 It's great to know that people are actually using and enjoying the map. How did your escort mission proceed, IceBreaker? BTW, I'm curious as to which version of the maps folks are using in MP? Quote[/b] ]Thats it Nicholas strike while the irons hot, keep the momentum up. gsleighter 0 Posted June 14, 2008 @Nicholas, I've pretty much given up on my Arizona terrain, but if you want to do something along the lines of high desert, I could get photos of an area around where I live. Google Earth for Fort Huachuca, if you want to take a look, the USAF uses the airbase here for training pilots for Afghanistan, the terrain is similar in many ways. To the southeast, almost to bisbee, is a canyon called Mule Pass, it would pass for an Afghan map very easily, and there's VERY high resolution imagery and 30m DEMs readily available. Just a thought, but like you said, you're probably busy anyway. -Gabe-

(another area of Germany) lol I knew I wasn't the only one, but I never imagined the line would be so long I could offer low res videos as well. But I can't travel back in time so the 80's design would be hard research I'm eager to see your next map, whatever terrain it will be and whenever the release will be. Nicholas Bell 0 Posted June 27, 2008 Version 1.0 available at the bottom of the first post here: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....1240365 Not sure if I can ever consider this map truly done, but I know I am "done". Of course if there are any significant problems (like a tree in the middle of a road) I will correct them

cjuraman 0 Posted June 27, 2008 I get the same problem with the newest HV version, no ground textures, but I thought the previous versions were very well done, keep up the good work!
Asch 0 Posted June 27, 2008 i love this map! now i'm waiting for p85.
NSX 8 Posted June 28, 2008 The same here - no ground textures problem for XHV version.
Nicholas Bell 0 Posted June 28, 2008 Sorry about the lack of satellite image - not sure what the problem is. I just downloaded the HV map from all the locations except MIDH which would not give me a ticket, and the primary download at Armaholic which didn't work (secondary was fine). All HV PBO's worked fine for me. Maybe a corrupted download? The file properties should read: 93.0 MB (97,591,130 bytes) Modified: Today, June 27, 2008, 11:11:28 AM Not sure what else it could be - you may want to D/L again from a different source. Cant load it either and I have the right file size. Get message "Cannot load material file ca\Schmalfelden\data\layers\p_000-000_100_102_n_109.rvmat" 1's could be I's. got it to work when I loaded the small version up. The textures came back for all maps.
NSX 8 Posted June 28, 2008 I also put my name under gunterlund's message about missing rvamt file. Downloaded XHV version twice - from armaholic and from arma.info and had the same result. Regards, Andrei.
dob 0 Posted June 28, 2008 i don't know if that could help but i'v put normal island in same mod folder whith XHV map and now i'v ground textures
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted June 28, 2008 Yeah, it seems the ground materials and textures are still dependent upon the original Schmalfelden version.
amateur 0 Posted June 28, 2008 I got the same problem with HV version. Maybe some testing before upload will be good, man?
Nicholas Bell 0 Posted June 28, 2008 I guess the temporary solution (apart from using the v.94 version) then is to install all three PBOs until I figure out what the problem is. All directory references in the rvmat's appear to be correct. I'm working on it.
Nicholas Bell 0 Posted June 28, 2008 Could someone check these files out by themselves (no other versions of Schmalfelden installed) and report back? Heavy Vegetation: http://mihd.net/6svnbzq http://www.sendspace.com/file/ab22cj Extra Heavy Vegetation http://www.sendspace.com/file/8ndtlw http://mihd.net/rioypu9 Hopefully this fixes the satellite image - it does for me. But then I had that wrong too! Thanks!

Nicholas Bell 0 Posted June 29, 2008 Thanks! Not a very elegant way to finish this project. Fixed HV and XHV versions also posted on first message here: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....13;st=
mrcash2009 0 Posted June 29, 2008 Great Work Nicholas ... many hours spent on what has to be the most original map for Arma out to date. Great about the speed issues fixed and now being able to load all maps in at once. Have to say that this map is probably (apart from Rhamadi for speed) is the most used for ambushes and stealth missions and tanks. Its funny that with all the new specs, large scale map abilities, graphics advances, the smaller real world map aproach always works out the best  You deserve a nice long-to-mainly-short-term rest before you start on the next UK countryside map that you have promised me to be done within the next 2 months, for me to beta test long term, and update until version 1.0 is out, for me to test again
