A lack of fps

Recommended Posts

okay its like this

i have

geforce 8600 gt

2 GB ram

and an intel dual core 1.6 ghz(doubled so it should make 3.2)

now my performance ain't realy something when i get into a forest on normal graphics(with 1200 sight view and no anti aliasing)

it doesn' work too smooth when i enter a forest in the highest graphics and i aim from a tree or a big bush position it works very slow and laggy i mean not running bf2 with a geforce 5200 on normal laggy but its not smooth kinda like running ffur in ofp with 15 units fighting together near your position

when i go to a desert i play on the almost highest graphic possible in it works good only when i low my graphics to the lowest possible i can see it works really really smooth

somebody once replied to me in a youtube arma video

he told me that arma doesn't use the 1.6 ghz doubling so it means that in arma i ahve only 1.6 ghz which is less than minimum needed

well if that's the case that sucks

cuz lots of people have dual core if that's the case BIS plz fix it cuz im tired of playing on high beautiful graphic smoothly in deserts i want beautiful forests too i hope that non dual core support can be fixed in a patch or something or if it can't at least make the next game you release supportive for dual core

thank you and have a nice day or night or whatever its out there in the czech republic

Nah.

My bet is on your graphics card, the 8600 GT isnt much of a card im afraid.

Your cpu should be ok, i believe very few games take advantage of multiple cores (cant think of any tbh) so you should rule that out. Start reading some overclocking guides..

steps to improve performance:

1) Use patch 1.09beta.

2) Download and install lowplants 1.1 mod.

3) Use low or very low shadder detail.

Should run better smile_o.gif .

@ Israelieagle

Come back when you know what you are talking about. That system you've got is shit for armed assault. Sorry I mean your Ram is ok, but the rest of your system is pants.

Wrong, it's 1.6GHz per core. And even if ArmA would support dualcore technology the cpu load would be spread over the two cores with 1.6GHz each and not doubled to make it a super highend cpu with 3.2GHz.

No offence but you should understand the basics before you complain about something.

Sorry but while the other components are fine, your current cpu does not meet the minimum requirements to run ArmA which is atleast 2 GHz cpu.

I dont think that helps...

What his system? I already said it doesn't help. nener.gifnener.gif

Even if it used the two cores and doubled it to 3.2.... thats still minimal nowadays, not a performance machine spec

Its not double performance anyways, topic starter is stating that a 4200 dual-core  would run like a 8400mhz?

but cheer up , quick search on your cpu (you didn't state much specs) people are getting upto 3.2 per core with air cooling overclocking

only a 75$ cpu if its not a celeron dual core

Damn, so what PC i have to had to being able to run ArmA?

I have a 3.0ghz single core, Pentium 4, 1Gb of DDR2 (may be 2 in a future), and a gForce 6200

Ok, the graphic card is the bad thing, what one should i buy? I'm would love to have ArmA with all at top, but i can't afford that so at least i want 30 FPS (now i have 15, with luck)

For someone with 2 warning levels you should know better than replying with such an aggressively toned flamebaiting type response, on another day you might very easily get a 3rd warning level for that.

There isn't even a GPU that is bottlenecked by a 3,2GHz C2D, so it is pefromance spec.

hey thanks for the lowpants dude

i bet they would help my performance and second think

i could alwas run on best fps in very low but i can't look at arma in that graphic after i saw call of duty 4 works on the highest graphics there its just discussting looking at a game such as arma looking almost like OFP(no offense about ofp i still love that game)

but i will run it on low the low is much better performance and the graphics are still very beautiful

about the patch no i am alergic to beta versions

wink_o.gif

so i will download it when the full version will come out and does it realy makes performance so much better?

if that is the case then i can't wait for the full version

It works without Queens Gambit. You'll just get an error message whenever you start the game. There is a modified version of lowplants that fixes that though.

As far as graphics settings, try setting shader detail to 'normal' and shadows on 'high' (normal shadow detail will get lower performance in certain cases, it only really benefits older cards that don't support hardware accelerated shadows).

In you graphics card driver settings, turn off transparency anti aliasing.

I also recommend you get a program called rivatuner from guru3d.com. There is a 'render frames ahead' setting in it, setting that to 1 will reduce mouse lag when your FPS isn't very high.

Queens Gambit is just addons and campaigns. More content to play with, some like it and some don't. If you want some good SP campaigns to play then IMO it's worth the money. Of course get ArmA running well on your PC first.

if its intel Core 2 duo, then u could easily overclock the system, to about 2.2-2.5ghz

8600gt is perfectly fine GFX wich would allow atleast low/normal details with AA/shadows off and post processing low.

i don't have an error wait how do you install it i installed and then i took the name of the folder that contains the lowplants and just put it like that

"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" -mod=FDF_Sounds;@spanish;@joh2;@vilas;@m136;@voices;@NWD;@NWD_TankFCS;@RAWR;@ilan;@mod;@sniper;

Quote[/b] ]give me a link to the download i don't know what to look for

Because if you don't already know what to look for, and especially with overclocking, then people probably shouldn't be pointing you in that direction anyway because you'll probably fry somethin.

Plus, even you don't fry somethin, you'll most likely come back here looking for support, which is not the place to find support for overclocking your computer.

Please do not "demand" help from people, you're less likely to get help that way.

1.09 significantly improves performance for the majority of people who use it, if you want performance increases it's much safer to try that than to try overclocking your hardware which runs a significant risk of damaging it.

guru3d.com or whatever the link is

That is the link. Type it in your address bar and you get to the site. Very few sites actually need the 'www' part.

The program is called Rivatuner and the setting to change to 1 is "render frames ahead". Be careful with the other settings, don't change what you don't understand.

You should be able to do the rest yourself.

Overclocking should only be done after you have done research on it, because it can be risky and if you don't know what you are doing you could mess up something badly. Guru3D.com is a good place for info on it. Game forums like this are a bad place to learn overclocking. Don't do it if you really can't afford to break something.

I would really suggest trying the 1.09 patch. If you dont think it made a difference you simply use a different shortcut. You can go back to 1.08 any time you want.

I don't see what you have to loose. And like others said I would definitly try it before doing something that can burn my CPU if not done correctly.

@Israelieagle

Did you say low pants would help your performance? Because i'm not sure they would in this game. Do you fall over alot with low pants?

Can someone tell me where to get these low pants. I would love to see my player running about with low pants on.
