Generic landing craft

can you drive with the boat when you got a truck on it? i cant, it dosent stay on the boat its just falling of confused_o.gif

nice job man!! really like your model, it is much better then i expected (knowing how hard it is to model something from the scratch). i think you did an excellent start!!

btw how to transport stuff is nothing the addonmaker should worry about. the model has everything it needs to get it going, rest is mission maker work. lucky i know one. tounge2.gif

i made a quick example how it can be done, there are million more ways to get it handled, im sure. infantry and amphibious tank. i managed to get landed as driver of the m113, so try this aswell in editor after you watched the show as civilian.

right click and save as otherwise it get opened as textfile somehow

The mission link doesn't work.  I tried right-clicking on it as selecting "save target as" also. sad_o.gif

Pity it never wants to beach itself when disgorging troops like the other boats, and the radar makes it a bit weird for d-day missions

edit: pity the troops don't even get out

well these would probably be the wrong types of landing craft to use for troops in a D-Day mission. Most of the troop landing crafts on D-Day were the smaller Higgins type boat.

As for the troops not getting out, all you gotta do is script a trigger to open the door. For the commands you however have to De-pbo the addon to look inside at the scripts for the door animation script. If I have the time (working on my mod's stuff), I'll see if I can do that and make a short demo mission for it that I can post here.

EDIT- Crap...this model is binarized....arrrrrg! Ok... to the maker of this addon, can you post the scripts for opening and closing the door please? That would really help out us mission makers. Also an unbinarized version would help out new addon makers who might want to examine it to see how to make boats with animated parts and gun systems.

He gave the animations for the script, however I can't actually seem to make my guys get out of the boat, be it by command, waypoint, and ever triggering the get out /eject action

Grinman, I used a " Get Out" waypoint for the troops & an "Unload" waypoint for the landing craft to get the troops out ( dont forget to include the door animation command in the unload waypoin otherwise the jump off the top of the ramp like lemmings )

I did a little video of the Landing craft in action ( night beach assault type stuff ).

Well now i've discovered it's the vilas ww2 units which don't disgorge

annoying :/

That and the fact that when the doors open but the units are still standing in the cargo they're invulnerable to to everything but the boat blowing up

Nice boats but the AI keeps opening the doors too far from the shore. Is there any way for solving this problem?

Unless you do the landing in beach where the slope is negligible the doors open and you lose all your landing force.

BTW it is possible to load two HMMMWVs in your landing crafts, I have enabled it via scripts and they look very good.

Me, what I'd like to have in my HD would be GNAT's Landing Craft Air Cushioned (LCAC)

cause of the advanced state of the gameengine it isnt possible to land hmmvs. the engine knows that these vehicles are air deployable and refuses a landing via boat.

no serious, i tried, and aslong there is a human driver there isnt a prob at all. the ai of the hmmv and the striker refuses to do it (both vehicles that have issues with bridges as far i know). i can get them to drive in water and explode, but not to drive on land when the craft landed proper. 1st i really thought they have fear of the water, but that is not the prob. 5t truck works, m113 works and abrahms works as far i could test it. the part of beach i tested it on is quite crappy, i will try s different place later that day, maybe i have more luck then.

I have tried with strikers also and most of the time they don unload well.

Either they get stucked inside the cargo zone and cannot get out or the LCU opens the door too far from the shore and when they go out they get destroyed.

Maybe doing the doors a little bit wider?

Hi

i have a good idea for the landing craft if you made 2 vereants of it maby 1 for infantry and 1 for vehicals (maby you could used an attach vehical scriped) but very good Addon

Look at the demo missions that come with the download. If you edit carefully the coordinates that come in the scripts you can load more than one vehicle in the landing craft. You only have to copy the script twice, rename one the copies and edit the coordinates so you move the vehicle more to the bow of the landing craft.
