BLSmith2112 0 Posted September 10, 2007 Doesn't help at all when you provide absolutely no information for anyone to use in order to help you.... Ram amounts, video card.... drivers..... etc
oChaos.DNJ 0 Posted September 10, 2007 ^ Not sure when he put his info in, but its in his sig isnt it? ----------------------------------- Known issue, no current absolute fix. Some have better results with different drivers, some have good results with the -maxmem parameter. But nothing has fixed it for me.
76 0 Posted September 10, 2007 Still the same message, I'm bored of this error !!!!! Lower your settings, and you won't get this error half as much
Flasher444 0 Posted September 10, 2007 Lower my settings with 2 8800 GTX bought especially for this game to be as realistic as possible, damned no, I can't, and by the way this game does not support SLI, I can't believe it, and I saw that Bohemias is working on ARMA 2 !! But ARMA 1 is even not bug free with some really big bugs left ...
sickboy 13 Posted September 10, 2007 Yes, a part of bohemia is working on ArmA2, erghhh.. im sure you can read how game development works at bohemia in numerious threads, im not gonna bother. Lower ur settings until a better fix is available. Or try the -maxmem=256 or -maxmem=512 parameter behind arma.exe in ur shortcut, I can play a whole day on Very High settings like that. Btw, in the future you might wanna check the game's hardware compatibility list or bug/troubleshooting list before you buy specific hardware for a game... ArmA in particular is not really SLI / 8800 Friendly (yet)
Garack 0 Posted September 16, 2007 Why maxmem ? thats depends only the ddr-ram..i heard this bug ist nvidia 8800 only ??
sickboy 13 Posted September 16, 2007 Why maxmem ? thats depends only the ddr-ram..i heardthis bug ist nvidia 8800 only ?? If it has to do with what I think it does... 8800 has large amount of vram. Large amount of vram means large amount of virtual memory needs to be addressed for it, this together with the memory the game needs to address for itself already seems to be leading to this error. As 32-bit apps can only address 2GB of virtual memory without large address space. Under XP this leads to a maxmem setting of 512, at least gets it stable for me. Under Vista this leads to a maxmem setting of 256. This is probably because of the bug in Vista where also the videocard driver addresses virtual memory for the vram. Which means when non DX10/non Vista-ready games are ran, there is twice virtual memory addressed for vram (once by the game and once by the driver). However, Latest NV Drivers + Hotfixes for Vista (that need to be downloaded seperately and are not available at windows update afaik), resolve these issues. Also, I heard memory management (amongst other things) on 8800 cards is different from others, this can also be one of the reasons for either the error itself or other issues only seen on 8800 cards. jdhaines 0 Posted October 18, 2007 When I saw that error I immediately thought "Bad Ram." Â I'm realizing now that there are other sources of this error, but in checking my ram I found that 1 of my 2 1GB sticks had lots of errors on it. Â Anyone with this type of memory related error should probably check their ram, if you haven't in awhile. Â Just an idea. Â Even if my problem continues, at least I'll know it isn't the ram now. Â Anyone with this type of memory related error should probably check their ram, if you haven't in awhile. Â Just an idea. Â Even if my problem continues, at least I'll know it isn't the ram now. Don't forget boys and girls that errors in your ram doesn't necessarily mean bad ram. Ram errors can come from poor auto settings according to the SPD of the ram, and how the motherboard detects the SPD, overclock pushed too far for the ram, not enough voltage to the ram, too much voltage to the ram etc. etc. etc. I don't think this is a hardware issue. ALL my computer configs with three sets of hardware, stock or overclocked produced this error. Most of the time this happens to me is when I've just zoomed in, or zoomed out. I don't think this is a user config issue - this is BIS. For a while I was running completely solid - then - not solid. Didn't change anything, just booted up one day and it kept crashing. Then it was fine - it's so inconsistent it must be related to the game itself. Hmm, the only thing that really changes with my use are the scripts, and the locations in Sahrani, Ramadi and newly aquired Sakakah Al Jawf...

bigdog632 0 Posted October 19, 2007 buying 2 8800's for arma is nothing but a waste of money agreed for now but there are other games that take advantage of them...until they fix or at least reduce the problem with arma
