Throwing Rocks!

Yes. I made them for the Operation Flashpoint Northern

Ireland mod, but that mod died before anything got released.

I have no immediate plans to release any of the anti-riot

equipment.

Modelling a full riot properly in ArmA needs extensive scripting

and animation work (batons, CS gas, rubber bullets, shields

etc) but I've already bitten off more than I can chew with

the ArmA projects I'm currently doing. Similarly, a 1970s

British urban counterinsurgency mod is an enormous

undertaking as vanilla ArmA doesn't support that type of

warfare at all and virtually everything needs rescripted. No

way I'm attempting that on my own.

The SLR, however, will be released as part of my ArmA

SPEARHEAD project (1950s-1980s British Army and RM).

What if you could animate punches, and melee combat. I would love to see hundreds of civilians fighting dozens of riot police in melee combat.

Bas addons i think Tonel island came with rock throwing Civs was pretty funny i think they even talked biggrin_o.gif

Well, I think you can punch already. Don't the ArmA zombie

addons punch?

The ability to whack yobbos with a big stick would also be necessary  smile_o.gif

No the zombies dont punch, they use a speeded up version of the grenade throw animation...i think

No the zombies dont punch, they use a speeded up version of the grenade throw animation...i think

IIRC all 3 zombie addons (yomies, CZM and Karrilion's zombies) use the default trow handgrenade animation.

You could use zombie scripts for the riot police (and change the hitting animation) but i guess they would be a bit too agressive for 'police', and detecting when they should charge is kinda hard to write, but it should be possible i guess.

I would love a mission that was similar to the way project reality handles civs its a really good system.

Opfor use civ as spotters bluefor can arrest civs but if they kill them they loose points.

lol....this thread has totally gone from throwing rocks in Afghanistan, to a major Riot mod for LA.... but whatever, it would be just as great if Civilians can throw rocks....

so, back to the possibility of throwing rocks... is anybody up for helping?

Because ill just be honest, im a major nooby when it comes to modelling, texturing, and whatever else it needs. I have never done any of it in my life.

P.S. I am trying to find tutorials on texturing with O2.

But still, if anybody is up for it, PLEASE, PLEASE, let me know!

So far I think I have a

1. Moddeller

what i still need is a

1. Texturer

2. COnfig...or whatever it needs lol.

3. Sound

I usually equip rebel "civs" with a pistol that they successfully hide in SAFE mode... i wish that could work with players, too...

Cant you just rescale the default ArmA rocks and reconfig the grenades so they dont have any 'area damage'?

yah, thats what i was thinking.

But, i just have no idea how to do any of that,

and I would like the civis to throw

rocks

bricks

bottles

and stuff...

it would just make it more of an expierience u know?...

and if sombody is willing to help out, we should make it so that the rocks dont disapear once they hit the ground, they stay!

and yah, thanks for all your time guys!

If we get this done it will be AWESOME!

Well a good first step would be to make some "rocks, bricks,

bottles and stuff" objects in Oxygen. Then you'll need to do a

bit of detective work to find out how the hand grenade model

can be swapped for your new objects and where the hand

grenade config is.

Okay....im sorry to bring the dissapointing news guys, and i dont mean to sound negetive.... but im hopeless lol...

ive been trying and trying, and im going no where. school is getting in the wayof things..and this is not kool! confused_o.gif

im not going to give up just yet, but just ahead of time....this is hopeless....
