  1. I though I would bump this up for the newer players who missed out and I found something that i didn't see listed and have not known about until today, most veterans probably know it but its not to obvious on first view as most of the other action menu commands don't stack in this way. But anyway I'm sure most know about if you tell a man to advance he will stay ahead of you by 50m and hold formation in that position, but today i found (in an OFP FAQ at AVON) that if you keep pressing it he keeps adding another 50m on top of that. This same thing works for flank left, flank right and stay back and is seperate for each unit so for example you could have a fire team up front.. then 50-100m back could be another fire team ready to flank.. and then another 300m back could be a APC in support or something .. Also I will add that if you are splitting fire teams, i have always found it best to split into even numbers and odd rather than 1-4 blue, 5-8 red because when they run off they hold there spot in the orginal formation so the 5-8 group is going to have a large gap between them (opposite side tail end charlies) but if you picked 1-3-5-7(All units 2 your right in wedge) and 2-4-6-8(all units to your left in wedge/line) then your teams (or "colours") will remain closer to gether if you are ordering them to move to a position together (for example bounding overwatch).

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

There was a recent (feb), 6 page article in pcpp australia that had abit about it. Here is some pictures of the pages i quickly took, i don't think there is anything new or all that interesting in it, exept maybe that they say mod tools will be available on launch and that the SP campaign will be playable in co-op but that is probably old news(?). http://rapidshare.com/files/195803510/ofp2.zip.html
  4. I was playing baldurs gate recently too, though i was using the baldurs gate 2 engine with the tutu mod. At the moment i'm playing Rainbow 6 and Rogue spear. Â I only have gaming time on the weekends so I print off the 2d planning stages and throughout the week i plan my mission out on paper in detail and run it though come the weekend. Not sure if i will buy Raven shield soon or not. Â I tried the demo but to me, it felt to much like ghost recon: advanced warfighter which i didn't enjoy. Â It still has the 2d planning though, so i will probably end up getting it seen its only $15. I'm trying to get hold of the book also as that sounds pretty good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Six_(novel)

    4, follow 2!

When you split teams into colours and then give them a waypoint, they follow the unit with the highest rank keeping their postion in formation as if the whole group was sent. So the idea is to have you as the leader and your friend as the next highest ranked person in the team. This is what your team will look like in formation                 *1                *2  *3               *4   *5               *6     *7              *8       *9 So if you put 5,6,7,8,9 in team red then they will run around quite a long distance apart. like this                    *5               *6     *7              *8       *9 So the best idea is to have your friends team as 2,4,6,8 ect ect so that they will all stay close together when they stop. In multiplayer all you need to do is give your friend and his team a waypoint anywhere and as long as he does not radio 0,1 (ready) they should keep following him. I still use the above mentioned radio method in missions I have edited because the formations are easy to manage and change. About your question in the other topic relating to position reporting, I think you can do it by using the radio command keys 5,X  or it might be 0,X (with no team mate selected) but I can't remember for sure. If you get stuck with the 3 follow 4 thing from a vehicle, you the leader can press 0,1 once you have left the vehicle and then return them to formation and it should work.

Playing ArmA co-op with only two people

I played quite abit of 2 player co-op also. We usually played with about 2-4 ai in our group (4-6 total). We would then split into two fire teams which both of us humans would lead. We then used tactics like bounding overwatch which i think worked pretty well. Also I would suggest looking at Norrins ai enabled revive script, which makes things abit easier. Usually we only let one medic ai have the ability so it became abit more tactical. Have alook at this mission if you like sniper team ones (2ppl). It really has alot of depth and is a great place to start because it has selectable difficulty and also extra "hints and suggestions" in the briefing if you choose to read them or are stuck. AI Tutorial

Try this thread http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....=walker And I also suggest searching for posts in this section (arma general) for posts by "walker" as they have alot of helpful tips and ideas for working with the ai in arma. (scattered across many topics if i remember correctly)

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion I will give that a try. I have one question about that though.. When I brought the computer the guy made a partition in the drive, will this still be there if we reinstall? I am not certain but I think this could be the issue with the graphics card (don't think it is releated to the directx error). http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t38597.html I think it is abit too old to send back so I will probably get a new one. I found this list about prices in my country for 8800Gt 512mb. Anyone have any suggestions on which is the best, under about ~$330? Or is there even a difference at all? http://www.pricespy.co.nz/pno_11782.html Will keep looking it up anyway, thanks again for the suggestion.

Hello, Was wondering if anyone could please help me with a GPU problem i'm stuck on. It is a 7900GT 256mb.  When it play arma I get some wierd light/shadow thing that follows me round everywhere.  It shows up at night, on cloudy days ect ect.  I was told wierd things happened with it in other games in which it had odd pixel stretching which went from one side of the screen to the other.  I have the latest Nvidia drivers installed. This is the Dxdiag from it, which picked up some errors.. anyone know what any of it means and what I should do? <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 5/22/2008, 15:13:16    Machine name: ATHLON64X2  Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp.080413-2111)      Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: System manufacturer    System Model: System Product Name        BIOS: Phoenix - Award BIOS v6.00PG      Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz       Memory: 2048MB RAM      Page File: 323MB used, 3616MB available     Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS   DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found   DxDiag Version: 5.03.0001.0904 32bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------  DirectX Files Tab: No problems found.    Display Tab 1: Problems were found in the system registry.  Details are available in the saved text file. I have tried updating the direct X but an error like this comes up.. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">A cabinet file cannot be trusted... Reading up on that , I found it was a common problem and tried all the suggestions but nothing worked.  Reading the dxlogs the file dxupdate.cab seemed to be corrupt but deleting/replacing it didn't seem to work as it just seemed to revert back to the corrupt one. I ended up getting hold of the redist version from march 2008 which installed fine (full package, not an updater program).  I have since removed directx and then run the installer again but the same error shows up in the logs. Any ideas welcome as i'm out of them.

    Coop campaign!

I agree, This would be a great feature imo. To make it easier, it would be great if BIS could add the pre-briefing cut scenes and the ones for outro win/lose to MP so that it would be easier all round for them to have SP/MP Â campaigns. Also that way you don't need to waste a param for skipping the intro as people (or the server) can just press ESC then wait for the others at the briefing. Also while i'm at it, would be great if they could add subfolders to the MP missions section like in SP so it is much easier to sort them (and obviously for campaigns).

    OFP:res cutscene order?

Sorry about the confusing title, just couldn't fit what I wanted in. Anyway, I am playing the resistance campaign through for the first time.  The problem comes in the fact that I am playing in co-op MP with afew friends. Now as you probably know the intro/outro win bit are ignored in MP, so what I'm hoping to do is use the cheat to unlock them in SP and watch them, then play the mission in co-op. Here comes the problem, when I use the cheat shift + - + campaign, it does not order them in a manner which I can follow. The cut scenes which don't have a mission to play with them,  have an x infront of them like this x01FaceToFace.Noe Now could anyone please help me with putting those cutscenes in the correct spots through out the campaign.. Here are the names of the Missions I have to work with. note: Through opening the mission.sqm I checked which ones contained an intro/outro before the briefing which we will need to watch, I marked these with an I at the end. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> First few I got sorted as I started playing them awhile ago. -03b-Second service // I worked out 03a was if you betrayed the res -04-AmmoLow-I -05-Scrap -06-Field exercise -07-First strike -08-Hostages-I -09-Information -10a-occupation// Not sure which ones goes here, I guess its a choice one makes.. a or b? -10b-occupation -11-counter attack -12-contraban -13-Reckoning -14-fireworks-I -15-thehills -16-chaseforrabbits -17-offensive-I -18-Firefight-I So if anyone has the time, I would really appreciate if you could add the cutscenes named below into the correct spots if possible.  This is so that we know which cut scenes to watch before we start on each mission ... <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> as before I have the first few sorted. The Airborne Invasion of North Sahrani

Very well written, had me on my seat. Â I wonder how the other squads fared in the end. I look forward to reading more in the future, should you get the time to write them up.
