What is Bohemia's view on this 1.08 patch?

I think it would be ideal for the developers of the game... given that this is the official forum, to give the community some input as to why they thought patch 1.08 was suitable to release.

I'm sure the majority here don't take any comfort in Bohemia throwing a patch to the community with over 14,000 views and a bucket load of frustrated people: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=64099 and then not hearing one word from the developers with regards to the issues at hand. I understand it's probably very embarrassing- releasing a patch with more problems than before, but it's the right thing to do...

I, and many with me, have had 0 (zero, nill) problems with this patch. As a matter of fact it's fixed several bugs. Sure, I belive that there is still work to be done, optimization not at least, but I also belive BIS is working like maniacs (and doing it well).

The beeing fair part: Lot of sh*t happening for the developers which is out of their control, copy protection which sucks, drivers left and right mucking up and so on...I've got no problem giving BIS hell for bugs still present since 1.00, for features not beeing done right and even changes I don't like at all compared to OFP:R (even though I in my mind realize it's two different products) but c'mon guys, let's be fair...

I hear what you are saying. I do think the drivers have contributed a lot to the problems, I also think from reading the massive thread I quoted that many people are experiencing lockups and reboots from other factors.

Well thare wher crash problums before the patch thay did not Adress this. shood be thare number #1 prority now now that all the other people can play together : i give the patch 8/10 Just becuse bis has been working so dam hard with arma/paches/VBS2 o

but ofp was realy bugy for 6mo or so then most of it got fixed the question thay shood ask them self is players who buy the game again if thay crash all the time are thay going to buy BIs products again.

I agree with Warpy, because of the 7.5 hotfix I feel the problem of the leak still lingers after 20-30 mins of play for me, as I usually crash back to desktop after that timeframe. I'm once again going back to 6.7 where things were much more stable, I don't think it's the new patch in this case for me anyways..

There are the people that constantly demand they want the patch NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and get irate because the devs ARE TAKING SO LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then there is the group, with many of the same people who cry Why did they release this patch if they didn't take the time to release a good patch!!!

Come on people, we can get one or the other. You want a patch twice a week that only fixes 1 issue, and probably not YOUR issue? or do you want to wait a month for a patch that fixes MOST of EVERYONES issues?

ArmA do work hard on this game. It might not be as good as other games when it comes to being pretty much bugless, but have you seen how many people work on ArmA?

I think BIS do a good job on ArmA and it's good to see what they have done.

I see people moaning "when's patch out, hurry up ffs" all over the place and I think it might be rushing BIS to quickly do what they can and release something so everyone has something to play with for a while.

If they just had the time, didn't have the community forcing them to release a new patch then I will think a better job could be done. Quality takes time, all it requires is patience from the community and BIS will do its job...

Funny to complain.I see input from the developers all the time.

Just because they don't comment now , they are busy.

When they have time and you have reasonable questions ,they do answer.

Even one comment is more than I have heard from other developers.I'm excited when I read a message from the devs.

I don't understand exactly your question and I doubt they will answer,looking at the list of fixes your answer is obvious.But they are listening for sure and your answers may be in next patch

By the time ArmA get to say 1.3 or so It will be pretty much bug free, but simple things like the parabug (falling out of your parachute) should of been addressed by now. I can understand peoples frustration for game bugs that with over a gig of patching still hasn't been fixed but like the previous guys have said it takes time and if you want it to be done properly then be patient.

Well, I understand Warpy´s point, because my ArmA does not boot up, and you get the impression that BIS is pushing the ball towards SecuROM, whereas SecuROM tell the community in their E-mails that it is NOT their fault, we need to get rid of any emulation programs (which many of us don`t have).

I have never heard of an official patch that stopped a game from booting up for many people, so this unsettling situation really calls for an answer from the devs. I mean, I am not talking about some minor glitches and annoyances, this Patch effectively screwed my ArmA and I just hate the feeling of being left alone, just becaust the Patch might work for the majority of the ArmA gamers.

I never complained about patches when things are not exactly how I'd like, but in this case we're talking about a patch that let the game unusable for many people. This flame isn't about those textures I don't like or that AI behaving stupid, not, it is about being unable to play. It may be ok for those that play mostly offline, they can just revert to 1.05 and wait for a fix, but for me(and I think for many others), that I only play arma online with my clan, that is NOT a valid option.

I have been gaming for years.I recall Tribes2 which is online only game.Devs release mandatory (checks and installs upon bootup) patch and game and was unplayable for everyone for weeks!

I'm getting alot better fps now, and are able to use SLI.

Only problem is, that Starforce fecked up, and I have to use an image file on the HD to bood the game (or a crack).

Pretty awful that I have to do that, my DVD-RW drive is only 3 months old, and it works in any other game. But oh well, I guess that's the prize of having an unbeatable copyprotection (yea right) - you force legitimate users to use cracks to run the game.

Forceware support doesn't answer my e-mails, so can't really be bothered any more about that. The good news is, that my DVD doesn't get scratched

LOL, I am gaming since the 1980ies when I had a Amiga 500 back then. But playing only OFP and a bit of COD from 2001-2006 surely helped to avoid the bugged games that probably appeared afterwards.

What happened to Tribes 2 in that situation and in the end? Do you see any analogies to the current situation?

The size of this community, i think BIS will be proud of this patch, yes they will be banging heads as about 3/10 have problems such as not being able to start and CTDs, but apart from those people everyone has been pleased. Apart from the people who want it all which will not get them anywhere in life.

BIS Has Done Well and im sure they will agree.

Agree too, but.. the people who can't run after patching to 1.08 should wait until next patch ?

They need an hotfix as quick as possible.. (i don't mind about new bugs or old one.. but at least game launching and running is the min. requirements i think )

What is the point of making a very large map when it cannot substain alot of multiplayer players. Also where is the cti? the game promised by bis. I rest my case.

I really want to like this game, but the patches is like asking the worlds strongest man to double his bar in a week.

Solution, just don't release the game till its fixed.

OK I thought this patch was released this Friday just gone I've being away all week, so I thought that the BIS team would have being chilling out over this weekend thinking that everything was OK.

So like I said where is the criticism in that.

But turns out they have known about the no boot problem all week and still haven't managed to re-release repacked exec file without the secuROM in it as temporary fix to solve issue and then put it up for mere'sly 10mb download, until they can properly re-address the issue on a later date.
