Yes. Some of the OFP addons had good ones.

The F18 Hornet had a great 2 stage ejection. If you have a copy of OFP check that out as a reference.

Currently jets eject you even when you're in hangar and you just smash through the hangar roof smile_o.gif BIS should fix that kind of crap before ejection seats are made, don't you think? smile_o.gif

why would one WANT to eject while in a hangar? sounds like its accurate enough...

Inadvertant Ejection : Mogadishu, Somalia 1990

A young Somali boy was poking around a Somali Air Force hangar shortly after the military had abandoned its base at Mogadishu. Chaos was running rampant in the area, as feuding rebel warlords were fighting for control, starvation was prominent and the UN peacekeeping force had not yet arrived. The curious Somali teenager hopped up into the cockpit of one of the abandoned Mig 15s in the hangar and undoubtably proceeded to fulfill his fantasies as an aspiring fighter pilot. Unfortunately, he encountered more realism than he desired when he pulled the ejection handles and immediately found out that the seat was one item in the dysfunctional aircraft that still worked. He proceeded to get the ride of his life as the seat fired, and a few milliseconds later he was airborne and rapidly heading toward the wild blue yonder. Unfortunately, there was a hangar roof between him and the sky, and he never took the opportunity to strap into the seat as he was playing aspiring fighter pilot. As he approached the hangar roof, his body gradually drifted apart from the seat and achieved sufficient lateral separation to avoid coming to a rapid halt as the seat impacted an overhead 12" steel girder support beam, putting a serious deformation in it. Our flying Somali superboy fared only slightly better, as his body was undoubtably bashed and shredded as it punched a hole through the sheet roof and landed on the tarmac outside the hangar.

Ah natural selection at its best.

Yes ejection seats are possible, you can even have the canopy door blast off just before the ejection so its simulated even more.

Shit a brick!

not really familiar with that term, as english is not my native language. what do you mean?

Ejection seats are supposed to be secured with locking pins when the jet is on the ground. There were incidents in the 60s and 70s of ground crew forgetting to remove all of the pins during pre-flight checks with predictably nasty consequences for the unfortunate pilot trying to bail out of his stricken aircraft...

PS. 'Shit a brick' is simply an expression of suprise/disbelief. See also 'Bloody hell!', 'F*ck me!' or 'Jesus H Corbet on a f*cking bicycle!!!!'

that posting by TRUT was EXACTLY the paragraph of what i was going to post, but i didnt cause i figured.... everybody sshould prolly know well, an ejection seat in a hanger is going to punch you through some material. but im glad somebody posted it. like i said.. seems accurate enough in game, unless you live.

metal does not know flesh exists...and if it did..it wouldnt give a fuck anyways.

I'm curious as to why you thought that that was a problem.

me neither thinks it is one...

remember OFP .. you kept in sliding through walls of hangars/buildings and whatnot even in 1.96 and barely someone said a thing against it.

is there any way of you takeing up this task huh.gif would be cool if there was an ejection seat script for ArmA.

There an amazing automatic AI-takeoff script on OFPEC, made by Mandoble. (he's working on a auto-landing script too)

http://www.ofpec.com/index.p....29300.0

Check it out, there are 2 versions.

Version 2.1 includes an ejection script with kind of afterburner effect.

Script 1

Quote[/b] ]

// mando ejection script

// mando_eject.sqf v0.9

// Ejects the crew of a plane

// May 2007 Mandoble

private["_plane", "_pilot", "_ispilot", "_crew", "_i", "_unit"];

_plane = _this select 0;

_pilot = driver _plane;

_pilot sidechat "Plane is severely damaged, ejecting!";

Sleep 1;

_crew = crew _plane;

_ispilot = false;

for [{_i = 0},{_i < (count _crew)},{_i = _i + 1}] do

{

_unit = _crew select _i;

if (_unit == driver _plane) then {_ispilot = true}else{_ispilot=false};

[_unit, _plane, _ispilot]execVM"mando_ejectunit.sqf";

Sleep 0.2;

};

Script 2

Quote[/b] ]

// mando single unit ejection script

// mando_ejectunit.sqf v0.9

// Ejects a single unit

// May 2007 Mandoble

_unit = _this select 0;

_plane = _this select 1;

_ispilot = _this select 2;

_vol = 1.0;

_wei = 1.27;

_zodiac = objNull;

_unit action ["EJECT", _plane];

unassignVehicle _unit;

waitUntil {vehicle _unit != _plane};

vehicle _unit setPos [(getPos vehicle _unit select 0),(getPos vehicle _unit select 1),(getPos vehicle _unit select 2)+4];

vehicle _unit setVelocity [0,0,60];

_smoketrail = "#particlesource" createVehicleLocal getPos vehicle _unit;

_smoketrail setParticleParams ["\ca\data\koulesvetlo","","Billboard",100,0.1,[0,0,0],[0,0,0],0,_wei,_vo

l,0.05,[1,1.5,0.8,0.5],[[1,0.5,0,0.6],[1,1,1,0.5],[1,1,1,0.1]],[0],0,0,"","

",vehicle _unit];

_smoketrail setDropInterval 0.005;

waitUntil {(velocity vehicle _unit select 2) < 10};

deleteVehicle _smoketrail;

if (_ispilot) then

{

_zodiac = "zodiac" createVehicle [0,0,0];

_zodiac setFuel 0;

while {(getPos vehicle _unit select 2) > 2} do

{

_zodiac setPos (vehicle _unit modelToWorld [0,0,-2]);

_zodiac setVectorDir vectorDir vehicle _unit;

_zodiac setVectorUp vectorUp vehicle _unit;;

Sleep 0.001;

};

};

waitUntil {(getPos vehicle _unit select 2) > 0.1};

Sleep 0.5;

_zodiac setVelocity [0,0,0];

Sleep 8;

_zodiac setFuel 1;

Sleep 1;

if (surfaceIsWater (getPos vehicle _unit)) then

{

_zodiac = nearestObject [vehicle _unit, "zodiac"];

if (!isNull _zodiac) then

{

if (_ispilot) then

{

_unit assignAsDriver _zodiac;

}

else

{

_unit assignAsCargo _zodiac;

};

};

};

Here's a sample clip of the demomission to show you the effect:

It would have to be implimented as an addon, which would mean we either need our own models (which he may have, I don't know), or we'd need to modify BIS's models (and we can't do that at the moment).

Techinicly its not my model, infact it has nothing to do with me other than the fact that I helped beta test it a wee bit, found out by accident that if you don't close the canopy that it will break off when the airspeed get so high.

I'd like to help, but I'm still learning basic scripting, that and I'm still trying to figure out how to get vehicles into Armed Assault.

It was similar to the end of that video but no booster, I'd suggest going with that and perhaps a canopy door opening/ejecting script will be made in the future once the proper tools are out.

Well the scripting part should be easy, I was messing around in the editor with possible techniques (and thanks to the new ArmA commands it's so much easier and much more capable). Getting rid of the canopy is easy, there are a few possible methods too. Personally I'd use a hide animation on the aircraft itself and replace it with a seperate object(s). Same with the seat actually. With SQF script and the vectorUp/Dir and modelToWorld commands it'd look pretty flawless too. smile_o.gif
