Gux 0 Posted April 7, 2007 TexView or PAATool seem to work fine for creating textures... FYI, proper smdi maps aren't possible with the current tools.
MehMan 0 Posted April 7, 2007 I want to know one thing...Is the new "Oxygen" (or whatever it's named) a sort of "Objectiv" like the one you can have with VBS1? Can you make macros for the engine, is there a real time viewer like the VBS1 one? Could be so, seeing how you have bulldozer controls that can be setup in ArmA. VXR 9 Posted April 7, 2007 I do hope the viewer of Ozon runs without having Armed Assault installed. I am not very much at home so I do have to work on models etc. at other places where Arma isnt installed and can't be installed.

I am not very much at home so I do have to work on models etc. at other places where Arma isnt installed and can't be installed. O2 is able to run without having ofp installed (if you are referring to O2). It just needs the reg key.
vektorboson 8 Posted April 7, 2007 Well, seems that few people seen this: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/GateBuilder It seems promising though it's Alpha status.
Törni 0 Posted April 7, 2007 Sorry that I don't know exactly what tools are you expecting? - There is a free 3D editor available - You can import 3ds into editor - pbo/unpbo tools are available too - configs can be created and edited with notepad - sound tools are also available If you are expecting "point and click miracle tools" I think you are going to be disappointed. granQ 293 Posted April 7, 2007 excellent quality addons we played with in OFP are just a few tweaks away from an import. now when i calmed down. Yes we can use O2 lite, texview (okey its crap, better with some 3rd party tools for that) and few others. Its just the island tools we "need" really. People should stop whining about tools really and work with O2 lite. Not like the new tools will change anything so you just select thru a menu, "import low quality photo from google to high quality model"..

paragraphic l 2 Posted April 7, 2007 just a few questions: People say only islands and units are not yet possible? But units is also allready said to be possible? So are animations also possible allready? And are plants and trees also allready do-able without "Linda" the vegetation tool? and as last: is this list complete? http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Community_Tools
Delirium 0 Posted April 8, 2007 All I ask is a good exporter to any of the most popular extentions (OBJ, 3DS, etc). I don't want to jugde the BIS or community conceived tools, just to remind you that there are better out there. To paraphrase, a good surgeon can operate with knife and fork but he'll be more efficient with scalpel.
Törni 0 Posted April 8, 2007 Just look my previos post above. You can import 3ds into editor. So that should make it compatible with all common 3D software.
Delirium 0 Posted April 8, 2007 Just look my previos post above. You can import 3ds into editor. So that should make it compatible with all common 3D software. I know, cause I've done that but with lousy result. Texture tends to swim off its UV space. I also have to redo all the hard/soft edges again. I was thinking of sth better. VXR 9 Posted April 8, 2007 Maybe 3dMax etc wont be needed once the new o2 is out, we do not know yet what to expect from the tool. I can tell you.. I learned modelling in o2 and it is very easy once you can work with the program.
MehMan 0 Posted April 8, 2007 Depends on how you can make normal maps... Unless O2 has something like meshsmooth, normal maps will take a long time to make.
VXR 9 Posted April 8, 2007 Depends on how you can make normal maps... Unless O2 has something like meshsmooth or the like, normal maps will take a long time to make. I ment the new o2.. And yes, it does need new functions to create the normal maps. But I ment creating just models with the old o2 is easy when you put some time in it.
tpM 478 Posted April 8, 2007 AFAIK the current Oxigen can't handle models over 10000 polygons.
Jackal326 1181 Posted April 8, 2007 O2 itself can, but you'll have issues getting Buldozer to render them.

I learned modelling in o2 and it is very easy once you can work with the program. here we go again. It is easier to develop an exporter to sth like O2 than write the whole modeling app, even if it's only cosmetics or face lift. Is it really so selfish of me to ask for it since there are other modeling tools that are market proven?
Gux 0 Posted April 8, 2007 Is it really so selfish of me to ask for it since there are other modeling tools that are market proven? No, I think most people want an exporter. I just want a good workflow and tools that do the job. Right now it's a pain if you work in max or other apps.
BraTTy 0 Posted April 8, 2007 AFAIK the current Oxigen can't handle models over 10000 polygons. Its limit is 32k poly or vertex
granQ 293 Posted April 8, 2007 cant the beta testers just post some screens on the new tools. Like on the menus and stuff so we know what to expect, remember the first screens on o2.. yummy =)

Jackal326 1181 Posted April 8, 2007 They probably all signed Non-Disclosure Agreements like when the original O2 came out to those select few (I know I had to). How far this covers is anyones guess - i.e. does it just cover the software itself, or does it go as far as even posting screenshots of the applications in action.
