O2 installation

Recommended Posts

I installed it just as it sayed in http://ofp.gamepark.cz/_hosted/brsseb/tutorials/start/start.htm

But it wont! I cant get the Z drive thing working. I dont see it but i did what it said. I click on O2 and it brings the thing up correctly butnot the bulldozer. So then i click on the bulldozer and it covers the hole screen with an image of an ocean.

Maybe if you guys show me that Z drive trick more detailedly or can you show me anouthe way to install it?

look in options when you enter O2.

Beside where it says External viewer,

You should have a line like this:

Z:\buldozer.exe -dx -window -noland

And beside where it says DLL folder,

You should have:

Z:\

Never had to use any "trick" to get O2 to work.

You got the Flashpoint.cfg file in the same directory?

O2_setup_1.jpg

F is a real drive

that virtual drive causes more problems then actually needed...

besides that you need to dumb your addon folders in the actual root folder anyway...

so.. its quite .. dumb(?) anyway..

Have you checked in options?

One of the reasons people can't get Buldozer

workin, is because O2 doesn't know where

it is.You have to tell it where Buldozer.exe

is.Then tell it where the dll is.

Look at my earlier post to see what I mean.

Oh,and one more thing.

What version of the game do you have?

pre v1.85,You may have to have the cd

in the drive,to get Buldozer workin.

But I'm open to correction on that.

You need to run the .bat first before you can use the viewer (and after every reboot).

Sorry, not sure Mad ..... because I use a true drive and not a virtual drive, I don't know how it should be setup for Z.

Have u re-tried installing on your normal drive?

The person who initially came up with the whole "subst" z-drive thingy should really explain why we should do it and what is gained by doing it. As I see it, it is not needed to do to get O2L or Buldozer to work.

Unless someone can point out exactly how and when those programs fail if the subst-thing is not done.

Good point Baddo.

I've just had mine set up with the subst command

for so long, I've never tried it any other way.

When you think about it you shouldn't need to.

In fact I've just verified that,in

case anyone cares to know.

O2 and Buldozer now comfortably

work in their original location,

without the subst Bat file.

Ie;

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">

External viewer C:\O2\Buldozer.exe -dx -noland -window

Dll Folder C:\O2

That's a hell of a lot neater.

Thanks Baddo. wink_o.gif

LOL .... whats the hell this "subst bat file" ? !

First time I've heard of it and I've been running O2 for years ..... thats what you get when you don't pay attention to the original install instructions!

Subst is an old DOS command.

When put into a bat file,it substitutes the specified

folder with a fake drive letter.

Which "fools" windows into thinking it has another

drive.

I,like many people, followed the tutorials Brsseb

wrote on the subject. So,wrongly assumed it was

the only way to go.No slight intended on Brsseb

though.I regard his tutorials as an excellent starting

point for anyone interested in Modelling with O2.

But,whatever works.Right?
