OddballWDI 0 Posted February 27, 2007 Has anyone killed a tank with the Javelin? When I use it I get the target over a tank, I fire it, it goes up and then comes down on the tank, but usually the first shot doesn't even get the tanks attention. I'll reload and shoot again, then the tank kills me before I can load again. That isn't very realistic since the Javelin can kill any tank in one shot. I'm not even sure my 2nd shot is doing any damage but it does seem to get its attention. Am I using it wrong or is it bugged?
Cam51 0 Posted February 27, 2007 the javlin is kinda tricky, but all you have to do is aim DOWN till the launcher tube is level with the ground, and then fire. *Note, you won't have a diamond around the target sqaure, but don't worry, it will still hit. bravo 6 0 Posted February 27, 2007 yes i believe its buged.. i cant even see the javaling while in 1º person view... and it should destroy the tank after 1st impact. maybe 1.05 fixes that.

-DirTyDeeDs--Ziggy- 0 Posted February 27, 2007 It works fine for me! Right clicking sends the Javelin into a zoom mode, which makes locking onto targets easier. Its a fire and forget weapon, once you have a proper target locked. There is the animation issue with not seeing the tube once its on the shoulder, but that never stopped me from blowing sh*t up! ThePredator 0 Posted February 27, 2007 With some changes to the config, the Javelin works quite well. Not perfect, though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeOzcEEqe7c
Lockheed Martin-ch 0 Posted February 27, 2007 If you want to make the Javelin realistic, you should do this like in this video (Video © by MissilesAndFireControl.com). The missile flies balistically in a more or less 30° direction into the sky to hit the target on the weakest part of every tank - its top. Maybe some scripts can be importet from excisting OFP Javelins...
Jackal326 1181 Posted February 27, 2007 Its my understanding that the Javeline wasn't finished for the final version. As such, there are numerous bugs with it (weird position when holding it, and when it is shouldered etc.). So, I imagine the coding wasn't finished either hence its sporadic effectiveness. -21stSAS- Major 0 Posted April 24, 2007 I really dont see any point in developing the javelin any further. Its a noobs weapon. Anybody who had played joint operations escelation will realise it makes taking out vehicles at extreme range with minimum effort far too easy. I for one like the fact that u have to carefully get yer m163/rpg out and wait round a corner for a vehicle before slowly hobbling out from cover and blowin sh*t away, its realistic and makes blowing up vehicles more fun and more challenging. I think having a javelin would take away some of ArmAs charm. everyone would use em and u wouldnt be able to drive down a road without dying. You've probably already seen the amount of people walkin around with At4's. And correct me if im wrong but doesnt the stinger lock onto vehicles as well? max power 21 Posted April 25, 2007 Major @ April 24 2007,19:55)]Apologies for my ignorance, but where can I find the Javelin? I think the Javelin is only available in BeZerk games mate Naw, it's in the game, you just need to dig for it. The berzerk guys did dig for it, same with the evolution guys, as well as many other mission makers. You can also play withit yourself by using the edittor and putting a string into the unitfield of some unit like was mentioned earlier.
bravo 6 0 Posted April 25, 2007 will this be fixed in next version?
frederf 0 Posted April 25, 2007 The Javelin used to work better in terms of actually getting your hands on it in previous versions. this addWeapon "javelin"; works fine in mission editor preview, try it in a multiplayer game and it breaks. You don't have it on your back. If you give it to an AI in MP he'll have it. If you shoot the AI and take it from him you can have it. You can also pick it up from an ammo box, but you can't start with it in multiplayer. In the Gear screen the launcher slot shows empty even though you have a Javelin on your shoulder. You try to pick up Javelin rockets from a ammo box and they are invisible below the last entry in the ammo list. ======== Javelin shooting is best done without crosshairs if you have a two-man team and the leader is the shooter and he can use the <Commanding Mode> to see if he's got a target designated or not. Then you (not moving) let go of <Commanding Mode> and fire. You do not need a lock diamond to achieve a hit with the Javelin. If you put the aim point (center of screen) barely below the target you will get a TD Box (white, hollow box) and that is good enough to get the missile to track. In fact this makes the missile arch slightly up in the air in its path and will be less likely to hit obstacles in the way. Of course if you put the aim point down you'll start to see the lock diamond fade in. This too will hit assuming you don't shoot it into your feet. ====== Whoever complained about how unfun the Javelin is compared to the AT4... one, wtf is with your whoring of the word "realistic"? Also you can make the game balanced with high power weapons by limiting their number or taking measures against their use (fog, scout screens). I mean unless you're in some CTF server that wants to put down a box of 1,000 Javelins there's no problem with balance.
