GD Mast 0 Posted February 17, 2007 Great update! Â I've always liked OFrP mods. Â Finally downloaded with the slow speed but was worth the wait. Is there a way to fix the ACOG reticule on the Famas? Â It still has the target outline on it. Â Might need an update on that reticule. GD Mast
miles teg 1 Posted February 17, 2007 Thanks Franze. Good job moderating. Overall, I haven't found any serious bugs so far. I'm really enjoying the Super Etenard although it's a shame that their isn't an aircraft carrier to launch them. I look forward to eventually perhaps seeing some historic French aircraft as well like the Mirage III, IV, and V aircraft. Overall however, OFrP is one of my favorite mods with some of the best overal quality ranking up there with the FDF and CSLA mods. OH... and by the way I'm American and I'm ex-military so please ignore the idiot flaming earlier. I salute my French brothers in arms and hope for a more peaceful world. GD Mast 0 Posted February 20, 2007 I'll ask again, Is there a way to fix the ACOG reticule on the Famas? Â It still has the target outline on it. Â There should be no target outline. Â Is this an easy fix? GD Mast
Chris Young 3 Posted February 20, 2007 Excuse me for my poor English, but what do you call "target outline" ? Maybe a screenshot can help.
GD Mast 0 Posted February 22, 2007 Sure can...here's a website that a pic of the ACOG reticule. Â Go to the AR optics page on the left and at the bottom of that page, you'll see the pic. Military Morons Hope this helps. GD Mast
Chris Young 3 Posted February 22, 2007 Ok, I guess you speak about this sight : EDIT : Images removed But according to the website, it is the reticle for the ACOG sight here (left on the photograph) : And it seems quite different from the ACOG sight that is in the OFrP pack. Our sight looks rather like the one on this page : http://www.nightvisionsales.com/product....228 And you can see on the picture at the bottom that the reticle features a target outline. I'm not a specialist so if you can assure me that the version used by the French Army do not features this target outline, I'll see if it is possible to fix it. However, it probably won't be for OFP. This was our final release, next step will be on ArmA. Regards, Chris. EDIT : Another interesting link : http://www.4scopes.com/acog.htm But all these sights do have the target outline. Guest Ti0n3r Posted February 22, 2007 Chris Young, one has to enter a password in order to view the pics from http://www.militarymorons.com. Can't see them.
Chris Young 3 Posted February 22, 2007 The login and password are given in a small message in the box : both are "mm".
GD Mast 0 Posted February 22, 2007 Yes...that is the reticule for the ACOG. Â There's no human outline (target) on the reticule like in the other website. Â Thanks for your answer Chris. Â Bummer... GD Mast P.S.- The reason why Military Morons makes you use a password was because too many people were hotlinking to the pictures. Â Â That's why I posted the website. Chris Young 3 Posted February 23, 2007 Ok, I removed the image hotlinks.
Blackbuck 9 Posted February 23, 2007 That target that is there is what it would look like at 100M. So there should not be one.

Chris Young 3 Posted February 23, 2007 That target that is there is what it would look like at 100M. So there should not be one. Yes, but are you sure that it is not in the reticle to help the estimation of the range ?
BlackScorpion 0 Posted February 23, 2007 How about checking the producer, Trijicon Inc.? Seems that atleast most, if not all, models they're making today are equipped with the silhouette ring.
GD Mast 0 Posted February 23, 2007 There is no silhouette ring/target. Â Like helping_hand said, it's there to show people, and give range estimation. Â At 100m, the target should fill the sight (from shoulder width) to the thick horizontal black bars. I didn't want to post the Trijicon website because they also show the silhoutte. Â That's why I used Military Morons website. Â They were the only ones that I could find quickly that show'd what the sight looks like (actual image). Â What makes it more confusing is the ACOG sight for the USMC. Â Completely different reticule because Marines can/and do engage targets out to 800m. Â Â There's a mod that has the ACOG reticule done correctly but cannot think which one it is. Â Might be Hyakushiki's, Laser's or Wipman's, not sure. Chris Young 3 Posted February 23, 2007 Yes, you seem to bee right, I have been looking for good photos of the optics for several days, I couldn't find any, but I just found this one : http://images.google.fr/imgres?....rl=http And there is no target outline. I transmit it to the team. Thanks for your remark, GD Mast.
GD Mast 0 Posted February 24, 2007 Excellent! Â That second picture is perfect and clear. Â GD Mast
Chris Young 3 Posted February 24, 2007 The scope modeled by OFrP is the TA31A, more similar to the first one (TA31F), except that we have a red triangle instead of a chevron. EDIT : In fact the one modeled by OFrP is a TA11D, similar to the TA31A except that the magnification is 3.5x instead of 4x I've made the modification on my addon, but it needs a little knowledge in editing. If you also want to do so : * unpack OFrP_Armes.pbo * with ODOL explorer, convert optika_acog1.p3d to MLOD * open the p3d file and remove the silhouette and the crosshair (it neither is on the photo) * save and repack the addon
Alvim-R 0 Posted February 24, 2007 I've been testing this add-on for some time and was quite impressed with the overall quality, but I came across what appears to be some odd behaviour concerning the Milan weapons system. Is this missile really supposed to be manually guided in-game (instead of locking onto the target like a TOW)? Thanks a lot in advance! -- Rúben Alvim
BlackScorpion 0 Posted February 24, 2007 Well... TOW is actually wire-guided in r/l, too, just like MILAN. You referring to BIS TOW here? (which I actually recall being a guided one...?) Even their Carl Gustav launcher is lockable, and that thing is a recoilless rifle.
Alvim-R 0 Posted February 26, 2007 Yes, I had the BIS TOW in mind. Thanks for the heads-up on the real-life Milan being wire-guided! The only guidance-related procedure I could carry out when using the Frenchpoint Milan was steering it after launch, which seemed unusual for this kind of weapon. But if this is indeed close to real behaviour, I have no complaints at all about it. -- Rúben Alvim
