The first sound is a bottle-rocket with a really crappy explosion at the end.

Try this link out Praetor: Mortars being shot at troops

you could probably record the second mortar that lands in that video. Would make a good sound file if you crank the volume up and edit it some.

When you live through enough mortar attacks, it becomes old hat. It has nothing to do with being "moronic," it has everyything to do with knowing that even if it hits whatever fortified location you might have you're still screwed anyways.

What would you do? Catch em? tounge2.gif

Yes noticed the cola, did you also notice they were packing their stuff to report at the gate?

I believe to hear over the radio all units get the order to report at the gate. (or at least some unit has)

That "smoke on mountain" was attackers?

I think the US forces fired back at the attackers, possibly located at that mountain.

Not to mention the fact that one place is as good as the next one in a mortar\arty attack. you never know where it's gonna fall, and it's a right b***h if it falls on you after you tried to dodge the last few that missed.

Though getting away from the IED (gas tank) they're sitting on would be my first idea.

I recall seeing newsreel film of the fighting in Oosterbeek

(Arnhem) in 1944. The scene shows a group of German POWs

being held in the tennis court of a hotel that the British Paras

were using as their HQ. The hotel grounds get stonked by

Jerry mortars and all the German POWs in the makeshift

stockade dive for the deck...all except one guy who

just continues to stand there unconcernedly.

I have a question. Do incomming M203 40MM grenade rounds make a similar sound when your on the reciving end? Or any of the tube launched rifle mounted grenade launchers?

I know morters tend to be at least 60MM or greater and maybe 40MM is to small to make that noise but I was just curious thanks.

Here is some very clean artillery sounds you can use, not exactly what you're looking for but I decided to post it anyway. Fast forward to 02:23.
