canis lupus 20 Posted December 30, 2006 As some of you might have seen at the ofp.info forum I am working on the novalization of operation flashpoint resistance, I decided to post a topic here as well because I have some problems entering the ofp.info site. I already got a lot of comments about what people think about the idea of a novel so skip those please. what I need is some help once in a while when I get stuck, my first problem, I have some trouble with the cutscenes in my ofp, does Victor die in the end or how is that? and would it be alright to change Guba from colonel to general, I don't think a colonel usualy has that much power? and before you ask, I have also planned a novel about arma, as well as cold war crisis and red hammer. 5133p39 16 Posted December 30, 2006 When i was playing the Resistance campaign, my Victor died at the end, on the airport where he destroyed the bombing plane which was about to be used to wipe out some cities. Victor died surrounded by enemies in the desert, not far from the airport, with a steep rocky hill behind him - there was no where to run.
canis lupus 20 Posted December 30, 2006 thanks, I will be carefull writing that part, it needs to sound really good, a real hero's death
Garcia 0 Posted December 30, 2006 You never see him die, but you see tanks aiming at him and then opening fire...
chipper 0 Posted December 30, 2006 He supposed to be a Col because the resistance campaign takes place BEFORE the Cold War Crisis one, where he was a Gen.
canis lupus 20 Posted December 30, 2006 I could of course make it up to the reader to decide wether they think he lives or dies. and chipper you are right he is supposed to be a colonel, I juts have to make up a little story on how he was promoted and why for the next novel, wich im not sure what will be, armed assualt or cold war crisis. Garcia 0 Posted December 30, 2006 Don't see any problem in making him a General in resistance, as it's possible that the guy don't get promoted between Res and CWC...
canis lupus 20 Posted December 30, 2006 I will take some time deciding, but I got another problem, do we ever get to know the real reason why Guba invades Nogova in the first place?

blackdog~ 0 Posted December 31, 2006 It was a joke. Not a very funny one either imo as bannage is serious bidness.
canis lupus 20 Posted December 31, 2006 Jw I don't quite get your message, I don't realy see what part of this topic is against the rules
j w 0 Posted December 31, 2006 The comment was not meant towards you nor your topic, but merely Sanctuarys post that he linked, and I also refered to another post he made before. So, nothing wrong with your topic Quote[/b] ]It was a joke. Not a very funny one either imo as bannage is serious bidness. Indeed, but now they've gotten overserious, they give a frikkin' WL if you post an 100kb+ image. Over-moderated when it comes to images. ---------------- Anyways, on topic: Hope you can finish the novel, would be nice to have a historized OFP Resistance, and maybe you can publish it with the permission of BIS. But, regarding ArmA-novel: I've heard many say that Armed Assaults campaign is short, very boring, and not so developed when it comes to characters, so I would put my energy on the OFP novels instead. Maybe not Red Hammer, it's supposadly a 'bad campaign', but I don't know, not played it, just the early missions. Anyways, good luck with whatever you will do and finish! canis lupus 20 Posted December 31, 2006 alright then. well havn't played the arma campaign that much yet, but the resistance novel is edited in many ways, to get the story a little longer only keeping the most important scenes, so it's not important if amra has a short campaign, just a little story you guy's can recognize when reading it, but its all in the future, I guess that the first novel is finished in about a year, so there is enough time to think about it. about BIS and copyright, I don't think it will be a problem, I have no intensions of earning on the novel, not the first one anyway, I only wan't to get a novel on the streets, so as long as my name is on it, I don't care if BIS takes all the money, but let's just see what they say when its done. canis lupus 20 Posted January 5, 2007 Nice... I asked a question in the ofp.info forum but never got an answer so I will try asking here, as I have said I added some scenes to the novel that are not in the game, in one of those a priest gets killed, could that give me any trouble, I don't need your personal opinions but if it could give me some real trouble, the novel should be released in many country's and most of them are much more religious than Denmark, where I am from. XeLSiS 0 Posted January 20, 2007 Late but better then never... Since its a Fiction based novel, as long as you dont write a scene where its a very unholy and violating act against the priest because of his religious following, you should be fine. Bad Examples: The part in the movie "Elizabeth Part 2" (Movie Documentary) shows Elizabeths Sister Queen of Scott's or whatever being beheaded for betrayel, but then the Sister is axed twice instead of once, also her rights werent spoken to here. That is a very unholy execution in a holy time. The part in "Tears of the Sun" where Nigerian Rebel Troops execute a christian priest and missionarys for being Christian. Saddam Husseins invasion of Kuwait in 1991 (lol)
canis lupus 20 Posted January 21, 2007 thanks i think I'm in the clear then, the priest is only executed because he is helping the resistance, there is no mention of any religion at all, I might mention religion later but that will be in the sense that the soldiers are praying. A little update: the novel just reached 34783 words

canis lupus 20 Posted January 23, 2007 heh... nice flag, always nice to see fellow contrymen, and of course its nice to see Danes take an interest in the novel, since you proberly will be the first to read it.
R0adki11 3949 Posted January 23, 2007 whats the status on the Novel ?
canis lupus 20 Posted January 24, 2007 well as far as writing it, it will proberly take me about a year to finish it all up, right now its up to 45 finished pages. but the trich is to get it published, first of all I have to make some sort of deal with BIS about it, I used to talk to placebo about it but now I have to start all over with them, but I don't think that will be much of a problem, the problem is that danish publishers can be quite sceptical it could take me a while to convince them that it would be a good idea to publish the novel. canis lupus 20 Posted March 24, 2007 A little update, the novel is so far that I'm beginning to get all the loose ends together and I stumbled into some problems there is some questions that cant find the answers to in the cutscenes 1. what does Victor do on Nogova? 2. who is Susan and whats her relation to Victor? 3. do we ever learn who the tasmanian devil is? 4. what war was Victor in before he moved to Nogova? if there is no answers to these questions, please write some suggestions of what I could write.
