ExtracTioN 0 Posted December 19, 2006 When I use in my Arma shortcut only -maxmem no problems but when I add -nosplash to my shortcut in SP no problems only in MP it loads than crash to desktop. I thought first it can happen but tried a couple of times and everytime with -nosplash a crash can't even play in MP with it after removing -nosplash everything ok. Does anyone else having this problem?
awins1 0 Posted December 19, 2006 I have no problem with -nosplash, but when I added maxmem, I got the crash. Removed maxmem, all was ok.
hoz 0 Posted December 19, 2006 maxmem requires a numeric value. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">-maxmem= Limit memory allocation (in MB)
DrBobcat 0 Posted December 19, 2006 A strange thing keeps happening to me with the -maxmem command line as well. Whenever I go over 1024 in value, the game will eventually crash after about 10-20 minutes of play. However, I have 2048mb (2gb) of RAM? Does the game simply have a maximum value allowed for this command? - dRb
h - 169 Posted December 19, 2006 Yes, I was about to correct my report on another CTD thread, but it seems that if you go over maxmem=1024 the game gets very unstable.. If I set maxmem=1280 (I have 2gb of ram) the game will CTD within 20 seconds up to 2 minutes after starting the campaign or some mission (or preview) with no error message, the ARMA.exe stays active in task manager for ages, the rpt file is not 'filed' correctly, it's like the game fails in the middle of writing the rpt.. Use maxmem=1024 and the game is steady apart from very very very occational crash (if none), or the crashes that alt+tabbing will eventually cause..

Has there been any cofirmation of how much maximum memory ArmA uses if you don't put in the command line at all? I am very, very curious... - dRB
RN Escobar 0 Posted December 19, 2006 i thought i'd read in another thrtead that it was using around 400Mb of ram without using the -maxmem switch in the command line i can't confirm this as i never looked at taskmanager while game was running
Garack 0 Posted December 20, 2006 Why must we add maxmen ? Can BIS fix this ?
Chris Death 0 Posted December 20, 2006 Why must we add maxmen ? Can BIS fix this ? Did somebody say you 'must' add maxmem? It's just if you think your system has more ram to offer than the 400mb, the game is using by default. Do you always yell for a fix if you hear or read something, no matter what it's about? It's a feature, not a bug. :edit - typo ~S~ CD

neildood 0 Posted December 20, 2006 Hi Probably a noob question but where do i implement -maxmen command as i have over 2gigs, is it in the start up command line? Also what does -nosplash mean? Great game, found no real major problems AMD3800+ @2.800 7900GS 256MB 2 gigs of Ram

Edit your ArmA shortcut like that: "x:\....\ArmA\arma.exe" -maxmem=xxx -nosplash -nosplash gets rid of the splashscreens at the start of the game.

And why cant this Game use the memory i have ( 2GB, 1.5 is free). Game crashes when i used maxmem over 900. Is this a feature ?
Chris Death 0 Posted December 20, 2006 hum - then it might be caused because you probably don't have 1.5 free, but something is accessing memory reserved to the game. With 768, which i'm using the game runs smoooooooth aswell. If there's really a bug you can be sure BIS gonna try to fix it anyways. But my point is: there's no need to yell for fixing something, when it's unclear about wether it's a bug or not. ~S~ CD
