Tropical settings?

Hi folks.

Just trying to find out if there are any addons that make the water that pretty light bluish and maybe a bright blue sky as well.

I am running a gf6800 and DXDLL eats my computer alive for some reason.

I've got no ability how to model or script either, but I would love to put together something for a LAN with the effect of DEA/Customs/Coast Guard vs. Cartels etc.

Anyone ever release a PBY Catalina? If so, are they available in civilian colors?

I thought the reflections were supposed to be the best part of DXDLL? And thus the part that makes the water worth looking at? Wasn't there something a while back that made the water and sky and such in the same vein as far cry? I know that's a bit of a stretch but that is the tropical sort of nature I would like to convey

for water try the ofpw ,theres a link to the download in addons complete, its the first post of the al simons fishpack1(not2) thread.

it has 4 textures and you canmake them see through. sky try the vietnam sky pack same thread

I thought the reflections were supposed to be the best part of DXDLL?

They ARE the best part of dxdll.

But with your graphics card(same as mine) and the newer NVidia drivers, reflections drop your fps LIKE HELL.

There is no soloution so far and I'm afraid, there will never be one....

It's about time for Armed Assault release........

Yeah really. don't spose anyone can convince Kegety to adapt it? Do you spose it may just be a few simple lines of code added?

OK, another couople questions... how do I run muiltiple mods at the same time, and are there any islands with palm trees and such? that replaced the normal trees for OFP?

Look for BAS Tonal Island (2004?) or SEB Nam Pack (old, like 2003?) on OFP.info..

As for a Catalina, I've seen one in a picture once by the great Colonel Klink, in WW2 US Navy paintscheme though... and it never got released, though I don't know why... it looked damn good and the picture was presented after there existed floatplanes in OFP so I can't think of a reason for it not to work...

Seconded. The transparent water certainly adds to the tropical feeling, although I have a slight feeling that Mekong water ain't exactly crystal-clear

I have the same gfx card only I have the mobile version, you should search older drivers to use the reflections of dxdll, I only recommend doing this if you only play OFP.

atm i use the 70.78 drivers i've tested a few and these give the best performance. fps drops 3 with reflection on so that is very minimum

I'm not sure, but go to www.ofp.info and in search type McNool's and you'll find it. I think it does have a runway

Sorry for going offtopic, but that video was very impressive. I noticed a gull-grey painted Apache. I wasn't aware they used that scheme, but I love it

Also, was the firing, at foes or was it practice or something else?

Either way, great video, and did you check out McNool's pacific island? I believe one of the islands of the archipelago is an airfield island, not sure if it has ILS though.

P.S. You wouldn't be reading Hammerheads by Dale Brown by any chance? What you're after, sounds exactly like the story.

Thanks for the3 comments on the video. The grey apache belongs to a National Guard unit out of South Carolina. They are the only ones that do it. At first we were thinking they were kinda goofy for doing it. Then we realized that they were genuinely hard to see during the day.

As far as the shooting, some of it was training for a mission where we did some real shooting at the bad guys. But if you were using a camera when you should be guarding the safety of the aircraft and it's crew, you are wrong.  

The times we had to aqctually shoot at the bad guy, nobody had their camera out. We were too focused on the mission.

Incidentally the most irritating thing I heard came from family members and friends in the states telling me to "Keep your head down over there".

Yeah, um... how exactly do you do that in a helicopter?

My focus was actually thinking of the caribbean and the big drug trafficking going on there. I grew up in Miami in the 80's and saw some wacky stuff.

I actually would love to learn how to skin so I can make one of the wonderful blackhawk models floating around into a shiny black and gold "Cokebuster" like US customs uses

Thanks a lot. Would you believe I have all of those except for the go fast boats which just finished downloading? I have so many addons it's ridiculous. So many people make so many great things for this community.

All i am really wanting now is for a decent DXDLL reflective water and I'll get crackin on a few missions of my own.

Is dxdll compatible with FFUR?

Would it be exceedingly tough to add the new series of video cards to a new dxdll?

I'm sure it is, cause dxdll isn't a real modification, it's more some sort of a directx "hack". Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's not the video cards, it's the newer drivers that doesn't work anymore with dxdll.

If you are using the forceware driver version 66.93 (Win2K/XP), the reflections will work with your GF6800.
